I'm sure R* wouldn't want to upstage its other titles by throwing in a trailer right after the last DLC. People might lose focus on MP, and drop the last DLC. Audiophile Posted September 10, 2012 Share Posted September 10, 2012 Exactly. I haven't bought a single DLC for MP3 and I do not plan to. I didn't even redeem the free-one from the in-game store. Multiplayer is almost a ghost-town, there's mostly only try-hards left and the few decent players are hard to find. I think I literally had the same guys over and over again in a match for 2 or 3 games. I feel sorry for the people who do buy the DLC because they'll have a hard time getting on those maps because barely anyone else has them. I think there have been complaints about this on the newswire. You make it sound like they just decided to stop releasing GTA in October. Chinatown Wars was a DS exclusive and there probably is a reason it released in a different month. The original announced release was December for DS, and it did release in October for PSP. And then they stopped doing that. That's what I said. It's funny how you say we shouldn't look at Chinatown Wars because it's different, and then you say we should look at it again when the PSP port released in October. Chinatown Wars was never designed for the PSP, it was designed for the DS with heavy touch controlled game play. It sold poorly on that platform, only 70,000 units in the first month after release. The reasoning for the port and then the Fall release I would assume was to release the game on a platform where traditionally people appreciate a GTA game more, as is evidenced by LCS and VCS - after it didn't really sell on the DS. and the two R* North employee resumes listed October as GTA V's release date. I shouldn't say too much, but trust me when I say they were faked. Anyone can create a linkedin profile and use names gathered from past GTA games' credits. One of them even listed the artist as having studied and worked in America, which is factually incorrect. You'd be surprised how secretive Rockstar is when it comes to stuff like this. People at North don't even get advanced notice of screenshot releases. So when you say "October is a special month" for Rockstar, that's not really true anymore in that for the people who work there now, they don't have any special feeling towards October - with the exception of commemorating past GTA games. So you work for Rockstar now eh? It's not really fair only partially including a quote of mine, taking things out of context, and then making a comment like that. You should read my entire post. Their next conference call should also be on the second week of Nov so they definitely want to release something before then so they can talk about it. As has been said, nothing prevents for Rockstar to make marketing of two games simultaneously. And I doubt that it can cause Rockstar to postpone marketing campaign. 2. -Grand Theft Auto franchise / Vice City Anniversary. It is doubtful that this can also be the main reason for the delay of the start of official marketing campaign. If it's a month or two - maybe. But Rockstar would not delay the start of campaign for a few months because of the anniversaries. So this is also not the main reason 3. -Take Two, schedule and marketing campaigns. It makes sense. 4. -Every GTA (Apart from IV) came out in October. Means nothing, because of reason mentioned in 2 and because there was already a precedent, when the game came out in April. 5. -First trailer was also announced in October. Means nothing. Announcing of the first trailer could be timed to coincide with anniversaries, etc. because if you are planning to announce a trailer, and the game will not be released soon, and you do not care when to do this - in October, November or December, why not to coincide the announcing of the first trailer with anniversaries. But even the trailer itself was released in November When you are trying to do the analysis, you must remember that there are so many details that are preventing you from making a more or less accurate assumption. Since there is a lot of evidence that really have no meaning As for the release date: it's obvious that 2012 is almost totally impossible. Perhaps, second half of the December, but doubtly. Besides, GTA V can make 1 billion in 7-10 days, perhaps even more. So GTA V can cover in March the whole Rockstar's part in Take Two's financial predictions and even without Max Payne 3.
