The Gardener
Has naughty dog ever broke 1 day sales? Or even have a game that has sold 30 million copies? Think that answers your question. Naughty Dog's games aren't intended to sell in of themselves. They are meant to sell the systems (Playstation hardware). GTA V will obviously out sell the Last of Us, if only because it will be on significantly more platforms. I would bet my life insurance, if any Naughty Dog game was released on all the same platforms as GTA 5, it still wouldn't sell half as much. Sunrise Driver
R*. Naughty Dog keeps showing us that TLoU is another boring linear game. I've had enough with surviving in I Am Alive, Disaster Report and Lost.

Posting stuff like this on a forum about GTA is almost trolling. Same as if I went on the last of us forums(if they have any) and post a topic about GTA V. Most of the responses will bash GTA and maybe R* in general.

Ispintechno
The Last of Us looks like an epic game, maybe as good as GTAV? Naughty Dog participates in E3, shows us what it is coming, produced what we can already tell from game footage to be a smooth, amazing looking game. They got my money (or will) for their new title. R* is chaos, a disorganized company that can't meet deadlines and fans or so confused they praise them for psychological marketing, like that would be even a good thing if it where true. I love R* games but think as a company they are bullsh*t. I hope another publisher makes a game some year soon that is very grand theft auto like but better so we don't have to put up with the half decade of bullsh*t every release that is the GTA series now. I'd be rooting for a big publisher like EA or Activision to buy them out change the management structure.

WhiskeyFoxtrot
f*ck Naughty Dog. I remember reading in Jacked: The Story of Grand Theft Auto that the head of Naughty Dog talked massive sh*t about GTAIII before it came out. You mean that book written by a no body who got most of his research off the internet? To be some body, you start out as no body.
WhiskeyFoxtrot
R* and Naughty Dog are like the last companies that actually put effort in all of their games Don't forget bethesda. He said effort, not game breaking bugs and general lack of attitude towards one console whilst sucking the tit of another. I've never came across a bug on the PS3.. Probably because I got it after the patch, but even then I see people whining about it everywhere. You all must be doing something wrong. If you're talking about Skyrim, boy are you one of the lucky ones. I got skyrim the day it came out and played it up until one day I started getting lag spikes, then it grew more frequent, then it became unplayable literally. Load the game, move 2 feet, lag, freeze. After a month+ waiting for a patch, the patch didn't fix it for me. After that I lost interest. I simply 'played' the game just like you, so it's not something I'm doing wrong, it's something on the developers end of things. Rockstar and Naughty Dog do seem like the only two companies left that actually are devoted to taking their time and making the game nice. I'd say Rockstar moreso though, seeing how they make these huge open world games with such detail. That takes a lot of time.

Pancho Green
We don't know an awful lot about this game either. We know the two important characters, alittle bit on what the story is and we have seen cutscene trailers and one gameplay video that is always played the same way. Until last week by the way, they had shown a new route during PAX Prime 2012. Sure it's more than GTA V, but there's still alot to learn about this game and it doesn't have a concrete releasedate either. Bra thats more than gtav, and your saying not a concrete release date? At least we got a release year. Rockstar wont even say the f*cking year or consoles, i just bought a ps3 for this game and if it doesnt come out on ps3 im gonna be real mad. packardcaribien
This thread seems to have gotten a little off topic, so nobody go and flame me for this. In marketing, I like Naughty Dog's way better, showing all the important and basic stuff, and giving a good demonstration of the most unique feature (AI). That's to be expected of any start up series, though. Alan Wake did the same sort of thing, and a few other games did too. R* seems to be relying on reputation, having people make the assumption that the game will be great and groundbreaking in at least a few ways, based off of pedigree and past games rather than a demonstration of it. It's a little elitist, but it's not as if GTA hasn't earned the right to be elitist. It's one of the oldest and most distinguished franchises in gaming, so it's pretty much garanteed to succeed no matter what, and the impact of advertising might be kind of negligable, since everyone knows of it and advertising won't really convince any more people to buy it than are already going to. Thus any releases are really just for the fans to examine, and any droughts are just because they are preoccupied/wanting to spite fans (probably the first one). I can't say I like it, but it's not a bad plan. And as far as 'which one is better', you can't really compare the two. TLOU looks very interesting, and I'd probably buy it if I had a PS3. Maybe if I could go back to 2009, I'd have gotten a PS3 instead, because the only 360 exclusive I've bought is Alan Wake, and there are a few cool PS3 exclusives I liked. But I'd have to take $100 with me in the time machine.
Gtaghost22
Yes. I'm a Rockstar/Naughty Dog fanboy... It's really simple, and i don't have time for debating so excuse me if i sound like a fanboy as both are my favourite developers of all-time. First of all, to all the f*cking mindless ND haters, please go ahead and play Uncharted, if you still hate Naughty Dog then you aren't a gamer, it's that simple. Second, Rockstar IS the best developer in the industry, if that wasn't true you wouldn't have been here begging on your knees every motherf*cking month for GTA V info, i don't give a flying f*ck if thier marketing sucks or any sh*t haters say, thier actuall GAMES are the best this gen (Fact: John Marston's hat has more detail in it than the entire CoD series) nobody gives a f*ck about what you haters think, ok? Rockstar > Naughty Dog. Naughty Dog/Rockstar > Everyone in this thread (including me). GTA > Everything. Uncharted > Eveything (Except GTA). /thread. Edit: Uncharted is the best new franchise this gen and it's not even debatebale so don't try (Red Dead isn't a brand new franchise). Naughty Dog makes sh*t games imo, lol. Can you do better? No. The Last Of Us seems to be just as linear as Uncharted LOL. Same E3 demo played differently.... Assassin's Creed is one of my favourite game franchises of all-time, but i think Uncharted just tops it by a little, i respect your opinion though, i said in my post i'm a Rockstar/Naughty Dog fanboy so i'm kinda biased i know, but i'm a fan for a reason, i love thier games so much, most people seem to agree too. loki18760
I prefer rockstars wait and you will see approach. I don't need to know much to know that R* is going to make GTA 5 the best open world game to date and possibly the best GTA to date. R* constantly tries to outdo themselves with each new game. I respect them for that and i respect them keeping some of the game a secret from fans. I think the I WANNA KNOW mentality is for kids that shouldn't even be allowed to play GTA in the first place. I want to know the release date, and a picture of the protagonist for confirmation. After that unimportant information only. Naughty Dog I respect them as a developer but I don't like them from a marketing stand point. They tend to give out a little too much information and sometimes ruin the 'new' feeling of the game when it is released. I like their games but i don't pay attention to their marketing for just that reason. I wait for the last trailer and watch it and decide whether or not i want to buy them. I kind of agree on that one, they pushed Uncharted 3 out too much to the point where nothing in the games was a surprise because I've already seen it in previews, all of the major story points such as the Plane Crash, the Cruise Ship, London, etc, was already shown off, even the chase at the end was shown off in trailers. I'll always buy a Naughty Dog game because they do make quality games that are fun to play, but their marketing choices for Uncharted 3 were a little overboard, so far though, with The Last of Us, they just keep showing us one section of the game played out differently with a cutscene or two, I hope they don't show anything else beond that, the game already looks interesting, we know how the gameplay will look, we're already interested in the characters and the story, that will do, you have our attention, now just don't spoil the game before it's released! They really do, they look on GTA fanboys as crazy jerks, the outside world are only interested in GTA Modders and what they can do, and usually most of us modders arn't crazy rabid fanboys sitting in the GTA V section screaming about numbers they saw briefly in the trailer as a hidden release date.
