Adriaan
On a lighter note, it certainly is cool seeing the progress World Trade Center One has made recently. Last time I heard, the steel skeleton was completed and they're now working on sheathing the structure in glass. I think there's still some progress to go to reach the top. They add the glass as it rises. It's actually quite amazing at certain times of the day and from certain viewing angles when the sun is reflecting on the surrounding area. There's just things in life that is so different when you see it in real life than on a tv screen captured by a camera.
Punk-in-Drublic
Yeah, RIP to the few thousand people that died on that day, but lets give our heads a wobble a second and think, there are still masses of people being murdered every single day, 11 years on, when will this madness end? Also, to the people piping up with "f*ck the conspiracy theories", only a f*cking idiot would genuinely believe that the USA is innocent in all of this. ArvutiN7
I was in New York on 9/11. I was 11 years old. My father was supposed to be in a business meeting in the WTC at the time but took a sick day. I was at school for most of the day thinking he was in there. It was a very bad day. holy f*ck, talk about taking a sick day saving your life. Must have been horrible

sivispacem
>sand people in a cave decide to take down some buildings in the US Funded by a multi-millionaire family with ties to the Saudi royal family, and with the state sponsorship of Afghanistan. My guess is that you probably aren't old enough to have had any exposure to the event itself or any academic discussion on the subject. >sand people hijack planes equipped with box cutters Stanley knives were the favourite tools of the Old Firm gangs. A bladed weapon is a bladed weapon. Aircraft have been hijacked by completely unarmed individuals before. >pilots were trained fighters No they weren't. I fear you are confusing history and hyperbole; or just utter nonsense. >sand people navigate through U.S. airspace, the most secure airspace in the world At that time? Don't make me laugh. US domestic flights circa 2001 had about as much internal and external security as your average bus. >no fighter jets intercept them, nothing Because the rules of engagement are quite clear about directly intercepting non-combat aircraft on domestic flights inside a host nation outside a state of declared war. It's only since 9/11 that the rules of engagement have changed to permit intercepts on civilian non-combat aircraft, and that's not just the case in the US. >multiple training exercises months before the attacks, nearly all of them including planes crashing into the world trade center Again, entirely untrue. No-one has ever produced a single piece of evidence that any full-scale training exercise ever took place involving a targeted suicide attack of any kind, let alone an airborne one, against the World Trade Centre. It's an urban myth. >TV shows and movies that released before the day of the attacks have symbolism of the attacks happening, some even including the date 9/11 I'd like to see you demonstrate some of these for me, because I can't think of any examples save for Tom Clancy's "Debt of Honour", which involved an airborne suicide attack on the White House. I've never seen any reference to the date, or to the targets directly. And symbolism in popular culture is not evidence of conspiracy anyway, unless you're a proponent of NWO theory, which is utter dross of the highest order. >sand people were able to literally take down several buildings in one day, in AMERICA, the most secure, protected country in the world A further demonstration of you not having the first clue what you're talking about. America circa 2001 was about the least secure, least protected nation in the world. Ten years after the demise of the last real, tangible threat, it was the complacency of the US intelligence services that stopped 9/11 from being prevented, but there is no evidence- literally none whatsoever- of any conspiracy or inside job. If you do believe in such a plot, perhaps you'd be able to explain to me exactly what this plot entails, exactly what it was designed to achieve, exactly what it achieved and how it was enacted. I bet you can't, though; or at least not without me being able to pick holes in literally every facet of your argument. Yeah, you clearly have no idea what you are talking about. Particularly apt are you references to "sand people"- for one, the majority of Afghanistan is not true desert but mountainous and rocky terrain. Secondly, many of those involved were Mujahideen fighters- experienced in the arts of irregular war-fighting. To dismiss the same group of people as comprising a large component part of the irregular army that defeated the military might of the Soviet Union really is a vindication of the view that you are a bit of an idiot. na89340qv0n34b09q340
I never really understood 9/11, when it happened I was far too young to really understand any of it, and now it just seems like any day when a bunch of people died (that doesn't mean I think the victims are lesser than any other people who died, just that I hold no special significance to them). Of course the effects of 9/11 still seem to get in the way of a lot of things, our privacy on the internet being threatened, the racial profiling of Arabs, and the ridiculous (or at least getting there) airport security really suck, and they're going to be with us for a while. tuff_luv_capo
I was in New York City two weeks ago, and they are not quite finished with the new towers, however I did get to see the memorial walls on the Jersey side and they are quite astonishing. Very very well done. Although the giant piece of steel from the building has no plaque of any kind and the touchscreen information devices are faulty and in need of maintenance, the actual walls are an awesome view from every angle. Iminicus
I visited Ground Zero in October of 2002. Being there in the middle of all the hustle and bustle of New York City was eery. You'd think with all the noise from traffic, construction equipment and the fact it is New York City, Ground Zero would be noisy. It wasn't. I have never somewhere so quiet in the middle of a city, not even Central Park was that quiet. @idiot who thinks it was an inside job: Just who would you say orchestrated 9/11? Was it the Government under Bush Jr? Which would show incredible Government efficiency. Was it the Government under Clinton? Bush Sr? Reagan? Carter? Which Government planned 9/11? Captain VXR
According to Bill Maher, there is one good reason that 9/11 wasn't faked. George Bush would have had prior intelligence of it, and it is impossible to have George Bush and intelligence in the same sentence!

Adriaan
@Iminicus Yeah, if you were there in 2002, that would make sense. I had heard that people moved out of that neighborhood. Whether residential or business. But over the years the neighborhood started to come back and more people started to move in. The surrounding streets have been narrowed, so there's not much traffic as there used to be. But nowadays it's feels quite busy I would say because of the tourists and all the construction going on 24/7. Although, when I was there for the first time in late September of last year, there was one street nearby that was empty. I had walked down in it almost thinking I shouldn't be there when all I saw was an SUV parked there with a couple of guys inside wearing FBI jackets. J-B
Do you hate America or something You got me. I hate America soooooooo much that I use novelty sized US flags as toilet paper. I really have no problem with the sigs and agree with the message they're supposed to carry. I just think that their style is tacky and gives off a "HEY LOOK AT HOW MUCH I CARE" vibe. I was only 6 when I saw the towers go down on TV while in school but I can still remember it very vividly. I can never get that day out of my head this time of the year.
