Ash_735
Rockstar ported LA Noire and it was f*cked up... Rockstar Leeds did L.A.Noire, Max Payne 3 was done by Vancouver (RIP) and Toronto (who also did GTA IV/EFLC).
Adriaan
Rockstar ported LA Noire and it was f*cked up... dat different engine though. I'm sure RAGE has come a long way to support a broader range of hardware, and they've learned to develop the game in such a way to include many optimization settings as seen in Max Payne 3. fastetshot
@Adriaan I know that LA Noire has a different engine, but I was just saying that even after what happend with GTA IV's bad port, Rockstar Leeds didnt give a f*ck and ported LA Noire just to be on PC. Also Max Payne 3 was announced to be on PC the first time the platforms were announced(not like GTA IV and LA Noire). So that could mean if GTA V will be announced first only on X360 and PS3 and it will be an exclusive for consoles for like 8 months, the PC could be a port and not developed from 0 like Max Payne 3... That would be stupid as hell and I wouldn't forgive them for that.. No sane person would do such a decision and go backwards again with porting GTA V to PC after the console version are released. Just because it's a sort of "tradition" that the any GTA game on PC should be released months later? So nope, I repeat: I am certain that the PC version will be announced at the same time as the console version are being announced. Along with the release date, except for that it could be later (max. one month.. or at least two) PS: R* sometimes comments to mods of IV on their newswire.. and even favorited them from their official youtube channel, just like few days ago with the mod of Back to the Future. sublimelabs
Given the excellent reception of Max Payne 3 on PC, I'm sure Rockstar would want to keep that streak going.
Zee
Hmnn, I'm thinking yes. RDR didnt even get a pc port (LOL!!!!!). Those morons at R* Toronto couldnt code their way out of a paper bag so hopefully they dnt be the ones handling it.

Red Dead is made by San Diego and they never released a game for PC (or their games weren't ported and released on pc). Except for Midnight Club 2. But yes, hopefully it will be the same developers who did MP3 for PC..
fastetshot
@Freezer89 Maybe this time GTA V will be released on PC like Max Payne 3, but let me remind you that Rockstar Games are not going to make this game for free. As we all know on PC almost everyone are downloading their games for free if they dont give a f*ck about MP. Rockstar games always releases their BIG title for consoles first for money, Red Dead Redemption with its 13 million sold copies was never released on PC (I think a good excuse is that the first Red Dead was never released on PC and that they sold enough and they not wanted to lose on a PC port), LA Noire sold like 5 million copies both consoles and PC versions so I think that for La Noire a cheap port for PC was good to make more money, GTA IV had to be released on PC just because almost every GTA was out on PC...but thats just my opinion... Yeah I don't think you understand what I was saying. I was saying that L.A. Noire's proprietary engine by Team Bondi was designed originally to support PlayStation 3, then later Xbox 360. Then Leeds ported it to PC. What I'm saying the differential is with a modern GTA is that it uses RAGE, which have come quite a long way in supporting more varying hardware. Even if they start work on GTAV PC after the console release, technically speaking it should perform better in supporting more hardware after years of work on the engine - whereas back with IV it was sort of ported from RAGE of the early days that was designed with console in mind. As is evidenced by a more recent RAGE game, Max Payne 3, the engine now optimally supports more hardware and drivers. Just look at other engines, like the Unreal Engine - which out of the box is very platform agnostic friendly in that it is developed to support a broad range of PC hardware and driver software, in addition to consoles. But yes, hopefully it will be the same developers who did MP3 for PC.. My theory. I think it's not due to it's being made by Rockstar San Diego but more of this. Red Dead Redemption is a console exclusive as the spiritual prequel, Red Dead Revolver didn't receive enough demand from PC gamers. Due to this, Rockstar decided to develop a console focused RAGE engine and thus it is rather hard for them to port these codes to the PC as it would cost a lot for them, as of what they call "not financially viable". Also, if any of you have heard before, the game was meant to be released for PS2 and XBOX and probably PC too but was upgraded for PS3 and 360 instead. This new version was developed under poor working conditions and had a huge amount of crunch times which caused a lot of controversies for Rockstar Games and San Diego. And for why Rockstar released only Midnight Club 2 for PC, I think it was to test whether to develop next Midnight Club for PC but apparently, the PC sales was not as great as they wanted to be, so then they probably made a decision and say "Maybe PC gamers hate Midnight Club or San Diego product" If anything, it is highly possible for the next Red Dead game to come to PC due to Rockstar Leeds are still looking for extra PC Systems Programmer for their next gen PC games (one could possibly being GTA V PC)
fastetshot
@Adriaan Yes now I know what are you saying... When I first bought GTA IV on X360 , my cousin on PS3 , we both had some problems with the game, for my cousin the game freezed a lot. So not just the PC version had problems using Rage engine with GTA IV... Then RDR and Max Payne 3 demonstrated us how much the engine evolved, so RDR ran smooth and MP3 PC version ran without problems even on a low end system... So I think Rockstar is not going to f*ck up the PC version this time...

AirWolf856
Considering how well MP3 ran on my PC, I have high hopes that R* will do the PC version justice. MP3 has been a great beta test for the next Rage engine on the PC. They've been able to do a lot of multiplayer tests using MP3 which I hope will translate to the GTA V PC version. Just think about it. All the bugs they've seen and fixed in MP3 should follow into GTA V. I'm hoping that when R* releases the PC version of GTA V that we will have a whole lot less bugs to worry about.
cant remember
Considering the past of GTA ports I'd wager on it being pretty bad. GTA3: Was considered a bad port in its day, inconsistent framerates even on (then) powerful computers Vice City: Was actually a good port, essentially identical to the PS2 version with higher res, but it ran well San Andreas: Not a bad port, but they introduced a bunch of extra bugs like ALL cars being dirty and unwashable, how did no one notice this during testing?! Luckily they have a patch that fixes it. GTA4: Runs like crap, installer broken (i mean all characters are chinese during the installation if you don't have a US/UK version of Windows, how did no one notice that, do they even HAVE any tester?). GFWL extremely buggy. Even the updater doesn't work correctly. But again they released some updates to at least try and fix some of it. GTA5: ??? None of their ports were ever flawless (eg. runs consistent and no added bugs that weren't on the console version) so I don't see why they would suddenly start now. EDIT: Except for Vice City, but since it's essentially a slightly updated GTA3 they didn't have much room to make it bad. Ash_735
^ SA runs perfect for me. But from a technical stand point, it's missing some things, such as blurring Rotor Blades, Sun Flares, reflections on vehicles, extra animations on things such as parachutes, etc, not to mention the lack of 16:9 support right out of the box, etc. These things have had to be modded back into the game on the PC version when they should have been working right away.
