Dotseoem
Well. Since so many people shot down my King of the Hill idea (the cartoon) I thought I'd present another idea of inspiration. I was watching the trailer again and I thought about it before but the idea came up again. What if he (the protagonist) is just like the father from Breaking Bad? He moves to "LA" to retire from his "old line of work" and settle down to become a family man. In the trailer he said that he wanted to be a Good guy for once. And make a better life for his family basically. If anyone has ever seen the show "Breaking Bad" then you know what I mean. It's about a high school chemistry teacher who partners up with one of his former students to become a big-time drug dealer. He uses the reason of having cancer and providing for his family as the initial reason for dealing drugs. Maybe the protagonist will be persuaded back into his former life of crime somehow due to similar reasons, like a sickness or something happens to his family. Maybe the game will start out with you actually being the good guy like in the show. I'm just curious as to what he did and why he would want to come out of retirement. Anyway, does anyone else think the show may have inspired GTA V's storyline a little bit? It seems a bit that way from the trailer. An older guy trying to live "The American Dream" through a life of crime.
œaœa
Dude, I love this show and I would love for Rockstar to parody it in some way but I don't see it happening.
Exkabewbikadid
I don't doubt that we'll see some sort of homage to or parody of the show somewhere in the game, but I doubt the protagonist (or at least one of the protagonists) will be based off such a character as Walter White. Walt lived a very meek, quiet life as an over-educated high school teacher with no history of crime until diagnosed with lung cancer. The Ned Luke guy says he wants to be a good guy for once meaning he's lived a life of crime pretty much all his life. Besides, Rockstar isn't going to copy a hit tv series or anything else for that matter. It would be weak on their part as they are well aware. Adriaan
This has been brought up before a few times, including here: http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=503082&st=0 It's nice that you are a fan of Breaking Bad, as are a lot of us. An older guy trying to live "The American Dream" through a life of crime. Yeah that's not really exclusive to the story of Breaking Bad. You can say that about Scarface, as well. The writers of Breaking Bad are big fans of Scarface, and even featured a few actors from that movie in their show. Rockstar are fans of Scarface as well, and made a game with inspirations drawn from it. See how endless this kind of speculation can be?
