universetwisters
I'm actually amazed Universetwisters made this thread. Look at his current member photo, people that do those things of Facebook and stuff are usually the people that overuse YOLO and swag. If you knew me on facebook, you'd know I made that as a joke. The rest of my facebook time is spent either talking to friends, hating on the man (swag, yolo, etc.) or trying to get others to realize the greatness of the Edmund Fitzgerald

DEALUX
You have sh*t facebook friends then, you need to stop being so liberal with your accepting or sending of friend requests, sir. There is an option to unsubscribe from people's updates. That's what I do with a lot of my "friends". I would hate to unfriend anyone. Capricornus
I hate that f*cking word man. People are throwing it around and saying it like its new. Jay Z used the word on the Black Album way back in 2003 on a track called "December 4th". Too many trend followers, idiots. SWAG = Sex With Another Guy. AlexGTAGamer
I'll be honest, everytime I hear the word "swag" I think: Stolen goods. Evertime I hear someone say "YOLO" I keep thinking it's just a misspelling or blunder in saying "yo-yo". So... "I've got so much SWAG!" - You've got so much stolen goods? "#YOLO" - Oh, yo-yos are coming back, great! But you misspelled it though.

Johan
I don't hear that word anymore, I used to hear it like 2 years ago but now I have a friend who randomly says it as a joke but it doesn't bother me. I DO hate the people that dress like if they have swag though lol
Chunk
Who's taking all these super gay sepia tone pictures and placing retarded slogans over them? Is it just one guy or is there a team? How do I go about finding and destroying whoever is putting this sh*t out? There's no specific group. It's just something that's all over tumblr etc. Most of it's soppy relationship nonsense that's obviously geared to get retweets or reblogs or whatever. ghost of delete key
Привет,вы можете подробнее ответить? Не балуй... только на английском языке. Swag(g) dangles from the end of a rope. Too close to schwagg, which in my corner of the Milky Way is incredibly bad herb (headache weed). _Rob_
Not a fan of swag, and this whole "YOLO" thing seems to be really counter intuitive most of the time, I mean if you only live once then surely it makes sense to make decisions to preserve ones self? Chunkyman
Whenever somone says "swag", my mind always jumps to the "Dat Ash" meme. I don't know why, but there's just something about that word that reminds me of that goofy pedosmile. For reference, this is "Dat Ash".
caio3771
I don't hate this swag sh*t. First, there is not such thing in my country, second, they don't deserve my hate, they are just stupid and kids I don't care if they got this thing or not, if they think they are cool, let them think that, don't brake their dreams. Max
In my part of London, Swag is used to refer to something sh*t. For example: 'I just dropped my ice cream...Swag.' Has been this way for years, I was mighty perplexed when all you Americans started putting it in songs and saying that he/she/it has 'swag.' Saying it that way makes it sound like a learning difficulty. Edited September 11, 2012 by Max.
Pyrrhic
Funny story actually. Swag was first used in the 1960's by gay rights activists and actually stands for Secretly We Are Gay. People have tended to stop using the word because the real meaning has arisen. Thanks god for that.
The-King
Funny story actually. Swag was first used in the 1960's by gay rights activists and actually stands for Secretly We Are Gay. People have tended to stop using the word because the real meaning has arisen. Thanks god for that. Except, you know, the modern slang 'swag' originates from 'swagger.' swag·ger (swgr)v. swag·gered, swag·ger·ing, swag·gers v.intr. 1. To walk or conduct oneself with an insolent or arrogant air; strut. 2. To brag; boast. v.tr. To browbeat or bully (someone). n. 1. A swaggering movement or gait. 2. Boastful or conceited expression; braggadocio But nah, let's make random sh*t up because it makes us feel good about our lives, then spread it about because god knows way more than half of the internet is a stupid as we are. And of course, just a little bit more because I prefer nails in coffins, else leave the crypt stinking Origin According to the Online Etymogoly Dictionary[1], the word “swag” originated sometime in the 1520s and meant “to move heavily or unsteadily.” It may have been a derivative of the verb “swing”, which originated from the word “sway”[2] around 1300, meaning “to go, glide, move.” In modern context, “swag” may be used as a business lingo for promotional merchandise[4] but its popular online usage has been largely attributed to its root word “swagger,” which Merriam-Webster Dictionary[13] defines as: 1 : to conduct oneself in an arrogant or superciliously pompous manner; especially : to walk with an air of overbearing self-confidence 2 : Boast, brag The earliest documented use of “swagger” can be found in the text of English poet William Shakespeare’s play A Midsummer Night’s Dream[3] written sometime between 1590 and 1596. mikkenugent
Wait, why do you hate swag? Is it cause you don't have enough swag, and you are jealous of other people's swag? Swag is swag, and the swaggest swag is swaggy. I would offer some of my swag, but a last, swag is non transferable. You must earn your swag, doing swaggy things! What are swaggy things? Who the f*ck knows? No one! Now then, I am offering swag classes for the swagless. 50 swagging dollars for the class. They will teach swag! Swag out. sh*t u just gave me brain cancer..... HydraulicWaRiOr
/Thread But yeah, the whole homosexual thing about the word is undoubtedly fake. Swagger has been used since Shakespearean times. It was first abbreviated to "Swag" to label loot for pirates around the 18th/17th century.
