universetwisters
i can imagine ill get a good deal of hate from this, but does anybody else cringe at the word "swag"? It seems really annoying and imature to me. I feel the same way about bronies, rage faces, etc : just dumb fads for dumb people
Algonquin Assassin
Can't say it's a common word used over here. What's it mean?
Exkabewbikadid
This is my first encounter with such slang and apparently it means "Secretly We Are Gay". Who the hell cares.
Exxon
Seriously though, a guy from my previous class uses it all the time. It just means something like "cool"
Sneakerhead.
To be honest, I don't really have a problem with "swag" as long as people don't use it around me or to much. "Bronies" are what make me rage, I wish that would would just die out already, also ponies are sh*t.
4 Bagger
"Swag" is just another way of letting other people know you're a pr*ck imo. Hence pictures like these:
Greenline
Does it make you mad? Does it make you want to punch a pillow? Does it make you wish you had something more significant to worry about? Don't worry, you just need more swag.

Seddo
Is this mainly an American term because i've never heard anyone use it over here in the context of being 'cool'. The word swag here can be used for stuff, items, gear, as in have you got your swag/get your swag ready.
Tyler
People who incorrectly use colons are worse to be honest.

Watch those videos to get a better understanding on what those stupid words means, that guy is so f*cking funny, i like how mocks people that overuse those "words" Dafuq is a bronie? http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Brony Edited September 7, 2012 by Gtaghost22
Otter
It irks me. So does the term "freebie". Swag is usually cheap obnoxious sh*t, too, like a Darth Maul cutout on a f*cking popsicle stick. ...but I can't see eye to eye with anyone who actually takes offense at it. Language purists are the worst sort of hypocrites this side of the devout.
EscoLehGo
I use swag mainly as a shortened version of swagger, as in Mitt Romney has no swag, he's a stiff creepy Mormon. I also enjoy when rappers Lil B or Riff Raff randomly inserts the word in between one of their nonsensical bars.
Otter
Oh. Is that why I've seen an increase in the "Schwag" spelling? To avoid confusion? I always took it to be an "ERMAGERD!" type of cutesy spelling. Anyhow. Swagger isn't all that bad; it's a throwback for God's sake. The total knees. Ari Gold
as in Mitt Romney has no swag, he's a stiff creepy Mormon. Friend, I really am offended by your insinuation there. Now, I'm not quite up-to-date with the jargon and the lingo of the youth of today, but I'm sure that, from what I can interpret anyway, I have plenty of this 'swag'. Moth
Wait, why do you hate swag? Is it cause you don't have enough swag, and you are jealous of other people's swag? Swag is swag, and the swaggest swag is swaggy. I would offer some of my swag, but a last, swag is non transferable. You must earn your swag, doing swaggy things! What are swaggy things? Who the f*ck knows? No one! Now then, I am offering swag classes for the swagless. 50 swagging dollars for the class. They will teach swag! Swag out. Tyler
My fellow candidate and personal friend Mitt Romney has plenty of swag, guys. Here me out on this one: he has to have swag, how else did he beat that charismatic Rick Santorum? Am I right? Now, we've all made mistakes - republicans and democrats, all - but now is the chance to change all that. You can start that change today by voting for Mitt Romney and getting me into a higher echelon of power so that I can rule I can help you folks down here. Oddsock
I thought there was a Grumpy Old Forumers thread for things like this. And yes, I very much dislike the term "swag" and those who use it. It's foolish.
trip
Who hates pants? Don't worry 'swag' will be replaced with a newer hipper term soon enough. When I think of 'swag' I think of the free stuff handed out at trade shows and whatnot. So, I don't hate swag. EscoLehGo
There's actually a brony here on these forums, I forget his username but he presented his case for being a brony very well. Even so, I still can't accept it, I know we live in an age of tolerance but I just can't find any room for bronies, the sh*t is weird man, it's just f*cking weird for a grown man to be into that show and wear my little pony t-shirts and prance around at brony cons. It's weird and it really bothers me, if I ever have daughters they're forbidden to watch that show as I wouldn't want them having even the slightest connection with those people. UNRATED69
Don't hate on the words, man, they've done nothing wrong. You should be hating on the dipsh*ts who bastardize the words and turn them into something you want to hate.

Mike Tequeli
i can imagine ill get a good deal of hate from this, but does anybody else cringe at the word "swag"? It seems really annoying and imature to me. I feel the same way about bronies, rage faces, etc : just dumb fads for dumb people You hating all those things is a fad in itself. A good way to spot a phony is if something cool becomes popular, then mainstream, then some people start to hate that thing because it is popular, those people are phonies. Most really popular things are sh*t, so the phony rarely gets called out for his awful Justin Bieber insult youtube comment, but every once in a while something that is not inherently bad gets made fun of, thus exposing the phony. Another effect I've yet to think of a name for is when ironic use of words becomes just regular use of words. Pretty much every time I hear someone say swag they aren't being 100% serious, but eventually if you say it enough it becomes a common word. Think of people saying "bro" as a greeting, it usually starts with increasingly ridiculous variations on the word, like "brah" or "brosef", but eventually it just becomes a thing you say. But swag isn't cool anymore, as evidenced by your phony outrage, so nobody will use it much anymore.
Chunkyman
Soon enough "swag" will become obsolete like "bling", only to be replaced by other made up words.
