Do you guys think you should be able to jack fellow players in a free roam lobby? GTA IV they didnt have this feature, if a player wanted your car they would have tkill you for it, I found that annoying cuz then I would lose all the crap I collected all over the map. I hope they add the ability to jack your fellow players in GTA V, If your enough of a sucker to drive up to me with a nice car and honk your horn 1000 times to tell me to get in the car with you then you deserved to be jacked my friend. We've all been victims of lethal jackings for our infernus I think its time to introduce a non lethal approach to jacking a fellow player

Also if you guys do agree, how would they map this on the controller? I was thinking holding down triangle or Y would be good, what do you think?

It would probably make things too complicated, and what happens if someone with no mic (on a console) is honking for you to get in and you accidentally press Y instead of hold it (taxi controls) and jack them? They'd probably shoot you and you'd be pissed. Just leave it alone, if you want the damn car shoot em. Free roam should remain neutral unless otherwise provoked. In this case, I enjoy letting people get in without them jacking me, LOL.

Idk to me shooting someone for there car is a bitch move kinda if your gunna jack them do it the right way like in single player hurt/stun them (ie. bash there head against the steering wheel or give them a low blow) then pull them out of there car and drive off, it would be cool if there were multiple jack animations

Also to give the driver a fair chance there should be like a counter button where if you think you're about to get jacked then press the counter button to stun/hurt the would be jacker get back in the car and drive off basically this would be done so the jackee has some sort of defense against being jacked, its pretty complicated I know and it has a high chance of screwing things up but it would be cool to have something like this if its done correctly there just has to be a balance between the jackers success rate and the jackee's success rate, and like the jacking animations it would be nice if there were different counter animation that are activated according to which ever jack animation is used

Good idea.

Would be annoying to stop and think someone is going to jump in for a ride, but instead they jack your car and there's nothing you can do about it. At least with your idea, you could defend against such a thing and it would deter the jacker. Could just be that you hit triangle in the case of a car jacking. Then either duke it out on the street for the car, or maybe if you hit it at the right moment you just throw him back out and take off without incident.

sometimes the guy behind the wheel is just a bad driver and you want to pull him out of there - in co-op missions for example

I agree that we should be able to jack other player's cars in Free Roam, but it should work like a taxi. (Hold Y/Triangle to get in as a passenger)

Also, we should be able to take Taxi's in MP as well.

Well it'd be fun... But maybe just when you enable friendly fire? Or it wouldn't be so fun... (at least I guess)

MIKON8ERISBACK

Of course. The 12 year old kids on the console version unmoderated servers can camp out and kill people with high power weapons the second they spawn, why can't we at least steal their cars?

Actually, it was possible in GTA IV. I don't remember how and when tho, but I did it a couple of times.

Either, it was when friendly fire was on or if someone takes your car after you exit it, in which case it's pretty useless. But it was possible more or less.

I Shot The Sheriff

Yes, but what if you press the button with the intention to get in the car with the other guy, and not jack the car? maybe maintain the button to get in with him and single press to steal?

The taxi way would be the best fit in my opinion.

Overall, you would see the other player running towards the front door of the vehicle so you should have time to escape it if it happens.

If I was cruising through free roam with a Cheetah and I get my car jacked I personally think it's better than getting it blown to bits by some player.

Yeah where's the 'optional' option like there is for friendly fire and all those sorts in IV? If it had to be one or the other i'd probably say no coz it'd just get so annoying and tedious. dozingoff.gif

like the taxi version, sounds good to me!

but what if u could only steal it when u are at the driver's side, so when u see somebody going to the passengers side u know he wants to ride with u and not steal it.

You should be able to jack another players car, but only from the driver's side of the car, if you try to enter from the passenger side then you enter as a passenger, that way the driver can see your intentions and has a chance to defend himself.

Here's how car jacking worked in IV:

In free mode, it's not possible to pull the driver out. In any deathmatch, you can pull someone out of the driver's seat. Co-op missions were the same deal as free mode.

Hope this helps.

But on topic, I think it should be implemented like taxis. Also, to steal, you have to do it from the drivers side.

Until this thread, I didn't even realize that you can't jack a guy's car in GTA IV multiplayer.

But now that several people have enlightened us, yes, I agree with the above - jack from the driver's side, or else come in like a taxi, so it is obvious that you are going to be a cooperative passenger.
