DLCs paying homage to popular movie genres

Although I rather like the idea of a zombie based DLC for GTA V, I think there are other more interesting cinematic genres that deserve the GTA treatment

1/ A DLC paying homage to the ever popular 'Alien Invasion' genre

Alien Invasion movies are an ever popular cinematic staple. With so many classic pop culture moments and 50 odd years of popular cinema to mock, subvert, satirise and pay homage too Rockstar couldnt find a more ripe western pop culture watermelon to smash into little GTAV Dlc pieces. Panic on the streets and saucers in the sky, the city, the people, civilisation unravelling as little green men in space ships attack the city. From movies like War of the worlds, signs, independance day, cloverfeild, mars attacks..etc to the classic american ufo folklore and conspiracies ala area 51 and roswell...etc An Alien Invasion DLC would offer richer pickings than another zombie themed Dlcs for both the single player story and multiplayer game modes......

2/A DLC paying homage to the ever popular 'Superhero/comic book' genre

Over the past few years superhero movies have become one of the biggest cogs in Hollywoods blockbuster machine and would make an interesting genre for Rockstar to pay homage too. Players could become a hero or vilain, stopping/committing crime, creating a costume, choosing a power, fighting criminal + villains/ the law/ heroes ..etc. With films and comics such as Sin City, Judge Dredd, x men, batman, unbreakable, super, chronicle ..etc to satirise, Rockstar could make a very interesting dlc....

I may go into more detail on both these ideas later on. Any ideas for theses two possible dlcs or another cinematically themed dlc are welcome......

Saints Row kinda done this. It fits that kind of 'wackiness'.

I don't like the idea of superheroes, but I like the idea of the alien Invasion, it could be like Battle Los Angeles..

I don't like the wackiness of all of that,it's exactly what Saints Row The Third did.

Rockstar should pay homage to classic L.A movies like Menace II Society,Heat,Speed,To Live And Die In L.A,Die Hard,Point Break,Reservoir Dogs.

I also would absolutely LOVE if they had a Night At The Roxbury style scene at a nightclub in a cutscene, and two guys that look like Steve Butabi and Doug Butabi are trying to get in.

I agree. Surely we'll get to blow up the roof of a sky scraper, like Nakatomi Plaza in Die Hard.

Biggest question... why would they need DLC to do extra stuff? They can't just include it into the game to unlock after you beat the game?

Just... please... no!

It will ruin the whole GTA feeling to the serie overall. Even all the good memories of GTA from the past will be struggling to pop up correctly.

This tradition is completely lame, or at leased those spin-off zombie dlc's are for games without continous storyline(s) like GTA. Luckily, it won't happen. R* ain't fools.

Am I the only one who doesn't like aliens, monsters, zombies, these kind of things? I prefer to deal with criminals, not with those weird creatures!

JoeJoeMcTwist

for idea 1: it would be cool to spot an alien in the game if it were something really rare like the big foot myth in san andreas

idea 2: you just described DC Universe Online - you should try it -it's free to play

I don't think those ideas have to be wacky. People are so quick to cry "Saints Row!", but Saints Row is supposed to be goofy. It's not like R* would let Volition develop DLC for them.

I trust R*, so I really don't give a f*ck what they make for DLC. I'm guessing it will be something strange, because it's probably more fun for them to develop weird sh*t for their serious world. Nobody is paying them to make episodes, so why shouldn't they have fun since DLC is extra anyways?

I'd love to see an alien apocalypse dlc!

Sorry, but it sounds like a load of bullsh*t to me. I'm not interested in seeing aliens and superheroes in GTA. It is just as bad ass suggesting that other stupid zombie idea that keeps rearing its ugly head every now and then on this site.

Like someone on here earlier said, any DLC for GTA V and GTA in general should stick to themes that are actually to do with GTA like what we saw in EFLC.

This.

As part of the whole storyline(s) in the GTA serie. If it's a spin-off-dlc, then a storyline of some human character that fits with any of the GTA universes is the best. Alien invation in GTA? Thats ridiculous.

EDIT: Refering to your title of this topic, inspirations from great movies, crime-like movies, I'm up for. Just like it has been inspired before by Scarface, Miami Vice and so on.

Please no.

I'd rather have a stoner The Hangover/Pineapple Express dlc. Where a stoner gets mixed up with some hardcore drug dealers.

Agreed, if there is DLC that is most probable. This isn't SR guys, don't ask for DLCs like this, should be fairly obvious it isn't gonna happen..

I would only go for extensions of the GTA culture and concept, no supernatural or science fiction, if it's going to be called GTAV DLC. The movies you mention are the general idea I would like.

On the other hand, Rockstar has created some fantastic HD virtual worlds and I can see why people would like to play out their favorite movie role in these worlds. More power to them - just don't call it GTA. In one of the many zombie threads on this forum, I suggested that they could create a (non-GTA) DLC stand-alone game in the HD Los Santos world, based on Omega Man / I Am Legend, which is a more plausible scenario than raising the undead.

And here's another idea for reuse of all of the Rockstar HD virtual world design - use Liberty City, Los Santos, LA Noire 1940's LA, RDR and Sao Paulo -- Rockstar can make a standalone game based loosely on Slaughterhouse Five, where the protag is "unstuck in time" and bounces around among different worlds and different time frames for whatever reason - I forget what the point of that movie was, other than being a vehicle for some Vonnegut cynicism. But it would enable Rockstar to cash in on these designs one more time, and a great chance for redux, for all the fans to visit their favorite places again in a new context.

Noo I dont like aliens & def not superheroes. Im not for a zombie dlc in GTA either, not like undead nightmare ( even though it was completely fine with me on RDR).

BUT, I think a zombie cheat unlock would be alright, not big or anything, it just spawns zombies randomly that attacks & turns fleeing people like in undead nightmare, strictly freeroam & maybe online mode, it starts to sound fun then..

Definitely no kind of storymode dlc though! seriously. I would totally take Episodes from Los Santos before any of that crap.

Definitely wanna see an alien invasion DLC. And I guess lot of the people here started with IV; the GTA series is sooooo serious, you guise. That time CJ was beating people up with dildos? Serious business.

Algonquin Assassin

I'd like a homage paid to Training Day. I know a lot of people don't like the idea of being a cop, but the type of story Training Day was I think something similar would work in GTA.

Imagine being a rookie cop and your partner (just like Alonzo) is in debt to some kind of mafia or cartel and the further you go to try and be a good cop he drags you in LS' criminal underworld.

Even though GTA essential shows it anyway I think it would be interesting to see it from the eyes of a cop trying to do the right thing, but gets forced to go against everything he believes in. I could imagine it starting out like LA Noire, but the deeper it goes his partner starts dragging him into the ghetto and basicalky controls him like a puppet.
