That's the beauty of screenshots.. They don't really provide enough context to misrepresent the final game.. I'm pretty sure tennis courts will make it to the game, and NPCs will definitely play tennis, but whether or not we can play too is another question..

 

The screenshot doesn't really tell us anything. It would not be unlikely that we can play though. If you remember they let us play basketball - albeit in a very limited way - in San andreas.

 

Maybe you will be able to play alone against one of those serving machine things that look like a cannon and you just get to return the ball, or maybe you can go so far as to play a full game of tennis online against another person .

 

The screenshot doesn't preclude any of these, but doesn't promise anything either

I was disappointed regarding not being able to climb telephone poles in IV. I remember watching a GTA IV conference, they said Niko would be able to climb telephone poles. Even if they said it in a joking manner at the time they still shouldn't have said it.

Ah, cool. I wonder if they used the remaining code to do add the minigun mod... I've seen it in Vice City Rage, which is running on the GTAIV engine of course.

The minigun he's talking about is from the "weaponinfo.xml" from GTA IV on PC. This minigun line is not deleted so fully there in the file. It's used for the miniguns on the Annihilator. Just wanted to mention it.

Exactly.

 

So whatever we see, we can be fairly certain it will be in game. Sounds like they've learned to not talk about or show potential features, because if they don't make it into the final game, people get pissed.

I guess the final product will differ a lot from the first official trailer. Meaning new things will be added, others will change. Didn't the police cars already get changed? In the trailer they're the old vapid ones from GTA IV, in the latest screens they look very different.

GTA has always had minigames in, I don't think they would show tennis and remove it because of "bad graphics".

 

Also, didn't they say "we won't announce anything that isn't in the game". I know a screenshot isn't exactly confirming it but it's a huge possibility that it's in game.

I think R* were quite specific with these sceenshots. What has been shown so far will more than likely be in the game IMO.

You´re wrong about the minigun Miamivicecity, I´d respect you opinion because there wasn´t a BETA picture with the minigun, but the minigun was featured by Rockstar Games but was cancelled in IV, later on, they used to use the minigun in the Ballad of Gay Tony but in an another way, they put the minigun with the Buzzard. So finally, yes, there was a minigun in the game.

The final insult, after years of GTA previews (seriously ive spent a decade reading and analyzing them) there are a million different things claimed in these bs previews that years later the mods will try to go "huh wha? No one ever said that." Since I was 12 I've been reading GTA websites. I'm in my late 20s.

 

Its off the server now, but there used to be threads dating back to 2002 with that guy Tank making threads saying things like "Swimming is in Vice City, but there will be sharks!"

 

I remember because I saw it with my damn own two eyes. Now, I take all these damn previews and screenshots with an enormous grain of salt.

It's debatable what would be the biggest change but I think a pretty big one was San Andreas trailer 1 showing the Mulholland Safehouse with an interior you could see from the exterior, which is the way interiors work in GTA IV. In the final San Andreas most interiors are not physically inside the safehouse exteriors but instead are closed rooms located somewhere off the map that you teleport to. Considering the short time between trailer 1's release and the game's release that's a pretty big redesign.

All I was saying was I never remember seeing a pic of Niko with the minigun.

 

Maybe it was supposed to be in GTA IV, but my point was very rarely do R* actually publish features in official screenshots only to remove them later on.

 

Yes they get talked about in pre-release articles and perhaps shown in beta pics, but it's rare features shown in official screenshots get removed.

 

Anyway as I said before I largely believe everything shown so far will be in the game in some fashion.

Before I begin for those who are wondering by what 'BETA' means....

 

It is something which actually featured in the game,but was removed from the final version for either limitations ( of platforms ) or unknown reasons.

No. Beta is just an unfinished version of the game.

 

Things that are removed usually aren't due to unknown reasons or (directly) platform limitations. They're usually removed to make room for better features, because they didn't fit in well with the game play, or like the school bus and hot coffee mod, it's sometimes decided that certain features aren't worth the controversy they may create.

 

Also keep in mind that V is currently much more refined than the past games were when screens began to be released.

I don't think so. The minigun "section" is still in some files of GTA IV. I changed some data so I figured out that this minigun is not a stand-alone weapon like the AK-47 and all other weapons but that're the miniguns of the Annihilator. There was never a minigun as a stand-alone weapon because Rockstar took with GTA IV the "realistic way".

 

The things we've seen so far will be all most likely in the final game but some things could be just parts from cutscenes.

I still have confidence that the release version of GTAV will be plenty awesome. If not, a lot of people, and perhaps even the whole game industry, will suffer great disappointment.

I don't exactly understand what you mean, but compare the very first trailer(s) of GTA IV with the final product.

"Thing will be different" and "That special someone". A lot of things, most notably, Niko and Roman look different.

 

Jim the Fitz looks quite different, too, in the first TLAD trailer.

Would be funny if the protagonist (who's eventually the balcony guy) will get made younger/older...

On topic, I just hope that they keep their words. It sucked that minigun wasn't in the final game.

And BETA means a phase in a software development where bugs and glitches are abundant and used to reduce the impact on user e.i: us, prior final release. Or B*tches Enjoying Teens A$$!

First off, sorry for bumping such an old topic.

 

Now looking back at my old topic made by my old account. Many people didn't expect content to be cut because they obviously thought that V would be the most ambitious Rockstar game ever (Back then). Remember this topic was created way back when we only had one trailer and a few screens and any info was like a lifeline. I did warn people not to get themselves hyped well many people did and were severely disappointed by the final version. This is why the 'non-V section pre-release regulars' (Most of them) did not like the game and this is why other gamers on various other sites liked the game because they didn't hype themselves up to such an extent.

 

It was a great wait though, even if some content was cut from the final game. This wait was truly one of the best video game experiences I ever had, from no info to the first few screens to the 2nd trailer, priceless.

 

So what are your thoughts now?
