Jack0711 Posted September 4, 2012 Share Posted September 4, 2012 This is a long shot but I guess its feasible: Killzone was scheduled to hit PSN as a "PS2 Classic" a few months ago but it was put on indefinite hold, just recently a Killzone Trilogy was spotted on the French Amazon which possibly indicates that Killzone has got the HD treatment and thats why they possibly cancelled the "PS2 Classic" PSN release. Why is this relevant? Well GTA III was scheduled to release as a "PS2 Classic"and its seemingly disappeared... Maybe they have decided to give the III era games the HD treatment? III and Vice City have also been rated by ESRB for PS3. I couldn't immediately say no to that idea but not sure how likely it is. I'm not one to read into "nothing" but I found something a little bit interesting the other day on XBL "bing search" for games marketplace. I was typing out GTA V as I wanted to see if a V section had been added so I could view the screenshots on my tv and have a full screen, anyways the wasn't one however it did bring up on the search "gta Vice city" now there wasn't a section for vice city either but as it came up as a suggested search I'm wondering if it could be released on Xbox live arcade/psn. I'm sure its nothing though. On topic could well be. We got the original reveal round about the same time as III anniversary, and the 10 screenshots we had 2 week ago was apparently 8 years since San Andreas trailer. Maybe iPhone 5 could. Only a handful of phones on the market have the resources to support a 3D game of that size. Just getting GTA3 to work with all those models was a BIG deal for them. Usually,most games have between 20-30 weeks for pre orders and to begin taking pre orders, you need to announce platforms.From October to late march we have 24 weeks.Sounds the right time. Imo along with the release date and second trailer,Rockstar would announce a downloable pack with all III era games for PSN and Xbox live,"GTA III era trilogy pack". That´s free money. This pack should be energized by the positive synergy produced by the 10 year anniversary of Vice city and the 15 year anniversary of Grand Theft Auto franchise in October. So October(or this month,never later than october 31) MUST be the month to know finally when GTA V will be released. If GTA V is planned yet for this FY13 (before march 31) we must to know the release date and platforms before the next take two call,expected by end october or early november. The first GTA came out on MS-DOS and Windows in October 1997. Rockstar must be planning to do something for its most selling game. 110 Million total copies sold. Add to that the 10 year anniversary of Vice City, I don't think Rockstar will do nothing. This is why I've been saying we'll get trailer #2 at the end of October with a release date. Thoughts? I absolutely agree here. If we see trailer 2 this year I'd assume it'll be in October for this very reason. The biggest challenge had to of been writing the wrapper they use and porting (or re-implementing, depends if Rockstar/War Drum would have been able to get an OpenGL version from EA) the gfx engine to OpenGL. Next to that would be sorting out all the bugs with the wrapper and then phone compatibility. If memory was such a strain for them, I don't think they would have included all of the higher poly assets and textures from the Xbox version. They already had to of implemented a number of engine elements from VC in GTA3 Mobile due to it's use of newer assets from the Xbox version, so VC mobile shouldn't take too much time if they are/going to be working on it. They would mainly just need to sort out any game engine bugs that crop up due to the new environment. Memory is most likely a non-issue for them. If they were to port San Andreas, that's where it gets a bit tricky. VC has pretty much the same structure as GTA3 and is running only a sightly updated version of RW compared to VC. SA seen a number of improvements to the engine. With an SA Mobile, they would either have to find an updated RW for OpenGL if it exists, or if not they would have to port over all the changes on top of VC/3 mobile. Once done, they are going to have to have months of sorting out all the bugs with the game engine just as they would have had to do with 3 mobile. Could it be done, yeah it definitively could be done. I honestly don't think they would have too much problem with memory even with SA. Most devices now already have enough of both vram and ram to handle SA, at the very least stripped down a bit. Not to mention by the time they would release such a thing, pretty much all devices in use will likely have double of the power of what we have now. The real question is, is it profitable for Rockstar to pay developers and QA to work on a SA mobile since it would require probably double what ever the amount War Drum got paid for 3 (or if, VC). TL;DR: If a VC mobile does come, you better buy it or else you likely won't ever see a SA mobile port as investment v profit is going to be the deciding factor. They will probably stick all three GTA III era titles up on PSN or release them in a HD collection (wishful thinking). Hopefully we get a second trailer for V then too though. I think November will be GTA V's month though (in terms of the majority of the news on the newswire partaining to it) since Max Payne 3 DLC will be releasing up until the end of October. futo-GT Posted September 5, 2012 Share Posted September 5, 2012 my guess is R* will celebrate the 1997 GTA by putting it into GTA V as a minigame replacing Qub'd 3D, and the 10year anniversary of Vice City, it'll probably be like the 10yr anniversary of GTA III, it'll be released on smart and android type phones.
