Anyways, Dec. 2012 isn't completely out the winder yet, so there's still hope. But I think Oct. 2012 is becoming more and more likely as we move forward in time. I hope not, though

You mean October 2013, right? Won't happen. It'll be sooner. I even guarantee it. tounge.gif Rockstar had never released a trailer nearly 2 years before the release of a game.

Says the gay who said Rockstar doesn't follow patterns.

second trailer the same date as the first?

No, Rockstar don't follow patterns so I think not. I would say that we get the second trailer in September. I could be wrong.

lol.gif

Don't mind him. He has a habit of copying what other people say (as called out by a handful of members and Adriaan), saying things one way and then afterwards when confronted backpedaling, denying the entire thing, or making up some excuse. Stating his opinion as if it has some real weight behind it and he's a financial/marketing/stock/R* expert. The sad part is, he's spread the same stuff over and over again in so many topics that some people seem to believe him. So far he has never been right about anything. He's the poster version of "2405".

This is what happens when you have no real knowledge. You make contradicting opinions over and over again.

OT: Meh. I don't think a November date is possible if we get nothing big in September. I think if there is a 2012 release (slim chance now) it will be in very late-early December. It will most likely be a 2013 release. Because despite what CJBB has been unknowingly saying, even a beast game like GTA will need minimum 3 months marketing (or said at some point, he changes his opinion so many times when it's obvious he'll be wrong that I've lost track) to reach out to people outside this forum. Stores need time to gather pre-orders. R* said "this is the big one" so I truly believe they will market the hell out of this game as soon as they start to talk. And I feel like that could be this month, so hang on everyone. We've just a bit more to go! We've held on this long. smile.gif

I think we should make bets. I say if GTA V won't be released this fiscal year then TakeTwo will decrease their expectations. You'll bet against me, okay? Do we have a bet? wink.gif tounge.gif

Against? No. Disagree yes. Are we talking about decreasing there expectations in November? If so then sure I'll bet this. cookie.gif It's chocolate chip so if your right you get a cookie. tounge2.gif

Still doesn't prove anything but it'll at least make your assumptions hold more water.

Pointless anyway as I'm sure if your wrong in anyway you'll make up some crap to try and make it out you was right all the time.

GTA V comes out in May 2013 - "It was delayed *insert orange wall of text here* so I was right.

GTA V comes out before March 31st 2013 - " Told you * Insert orange wall of text here* so I was right

GTA comes out ........

Yeah you get the point. You are getting like Michael Pachter. mercie_blink.gif

Anything I say is just a opinion. Not fact and I don't pretend otherwise as I don't work for R* so have zero knowledge what there plan is just like you and everyone else. dontgetit.gif

How is that proof it's not coming out in 2012?

Exactly.

It's also kinda fishy that it just ends at November 29th.

Why is there no December?

Fall isn't in December lol

@Masterfocker I see it now sorry, I still respect your opinion though bro

@Nun We'll find out when they release their winter calendar bro

In some countries it is... -__-

In the United States it isn't... -_-

Rockstar said it themselves if you have a problem with it

R* Q30 minutes ago

@The-Dark-Night December (as well as January & February) will be part of the next Winter calendar.

Yes it is dimwit. It's fall until the 21st in the US.

To people saying they can't release a game in the remaining 4 months of 2012: This generation is all about viral marketing.

When GTA screenshots/info is released, it's trending on Twitter, lots of videos are uploaded on Youtube, and Facebook is ablaze. Just for a screenshot. Now imagine a release date wow.gif

As long as R* announces the release date this month, and gives people 2-3 months for pre-orders, it can be released in 2012.

Right now, it's 50/50

Oh, and this calendar is evidence to nothing. Do you really think they'd announce a GTA 5 window in a calendar, instead of saying it themselves?

Haha, no.

Not 50/50.

If you think logically for one second, not with your heart but your brain, you know that GTA V isn't going to be released this year. If it was it could be the death of Rockstar; games like Call of Duty: Black Ops II have way more attention despite being announced later.

Dude, you have no idea how big R* is, do you? You really think R* would get killed releasing in the holiday season? So I guess Halo would get killed too. And every other game that's releasing would get killed too, since it's not as big as CoD. Oh wait, they won't? That's what I thought too!

Now who's the one not using their brain?

You, clearly.

Let us think logically.

Halo 4 isn't going to get 'killed' by releasing this holiday season. It has had the hype and the necessary time in the spotlight. Halo 4 isn't made with the idea of outselling GTA V or COD: BO II, it is made to sell Xbox 360 systems. This is very similar to Playstation exclusives.

This holiday is dominated by stellar games, some of which have had years of hype behind them. COD: BO II, AC III, Resident Evil 6, Far Cry 3. These are just SOME of the games coming out this holiday. Games that people have pre-ordered and decided to purchase, even at this early stage. There is even a new console coming out.

GTA V needs to be a hit for Rockstar. Max Payne 3's sales are resoundingly underwhelming, and Rockstar must now realise that they need GTA V to succeed. They are not invincible, as you seem to imply. They need all the marketing help they can get. Advertisements at big events, such as sporting ones (like Call of Duty), for instance. GTA IV is one of the most expensive video games ever created, and GTA V will surely top that. Expensive games require a big audience, otherwise they will fail.

So, I'm going to ask you to use your brain.

a) Would Rockstar risk underwhelming sales of their biggest franchise by putting it next to series' like Call of Duty, Assassin's Creed and Resident Evil (all of which, so far, have had superior marketing campaigns)?

or

b) Would Rockstar wait until March/May to release the title, within its own space, well away from the holiday season? This would move GTA V away from gaming highlights like a new console launch and into its own bubble. Shortly after May we can expect announcements on the 'true' next-gen consoles, and by this time GTA V would be one of the last big current console generation titles.

It would be great if GTA V came out this year, but there is so much information that contradicts that. It is likely that we will see a second GTA V trailer in the coming months, coupled with a May release date. That way GTA V can steal some spotlight from other titles (just like last year) without risking loosing sales.

Ok, let us think logically, since you overthink to the point of being stupid:

GTA is one of the biggest franchises...ever. It has millions upon millions of loyal fans.

Every GTA to date has released in October, other than GTA 4. Did those GTA's shrivel and die becuase there was too much competition? Nope. They excelled, because it's the holiday season, and they can hold their own. GTA San Andreas is the best selling PS2 game ever

Holiday season=Huge sales for people, including R*.

When R* released those screens, it was trending on Twitter, tons of videos were uploaded, and Facebook was ablaze. I don't see that happening with CoD and Halo 4, and yet you think it will sell underwhelmingly in the holiday season?

They need GTA 5 to succeed? Yes, but do you really think it won't by releasing in the holiday season?

If you do think it won't succeed in the holiday season, you're an idiot, plain and simple.

This is one thing we can agree on. It doesn't matter when GTA V will be out as it can and will plough over anything in it's way. People will still buy other games sure but GTA V will also be on there list so R* won't loose any sales.

If R* was bothered about competition they would have never released there previous games(before GTA IV) in October/November but more to the point GTA V wouldn't see the light of day as games are coming out all the time.

I don't understand these people who think if someone buys COD then they won't buy any other game and R* would have lost a sale. Chances are they would buy both as a example. whatsthat.gif

Rockstar would have said by now if the game was coming out this year. It's really that simple. Why wait? They'd know if it would be done on time at this point, announcing the release date would happen as soon as they were confident they were going to hit that target. If they don't know by now, it's not coming this year.

Sitting on the release date does them no favours. There's no reason to hold it back.

Who would've ever thought we'd agree on something? At least you also aknowledge that it can last in the Holiday season.

I just don't understand some people, like that guy, who says no game can go against CoD mercie_blink.gif

That goes both ways. If it wasn't coming out this year, they would've said so by now.

The reason they haven't said anything is because they don't want a delay. You don't want to turn 2012 into 2013 and have disappointed fans. They know the release date, they just don't want delays.

Yep exactly, maybe Rockstar will surprise us and actually announce the releasedate one month before release, sounds crazy i know...but its possible. But at this point anything is possible. I don't think there are any other games there that had this kind of 'strategy' are there?

This proves absolutely nothing. Not sure if you noticed, but there are still a lot of open dates for them to have GTA V events. I don't know why you'd expect them to list that on this calendar since the game's release date hasn't been announced yet. They're not idiots.

But they won't hit their $2 per share promise to the markets unless the release by December, I'm sure of it. See my analysis here:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=522594&hl=

I believe the will need three months of sales AFTER the release to hit the earnings target, which is due by end of March 2013. Pre release orders won't be enough to make it, based on the pattern delivered by IV. So if it is not out in December, Take2 shareholders better be braced for bad news on the next con call.

A pre order counts as a sale though as it's how many units R* ship to make the cash not how many are bought. I guess we will have to wait until the next call to see if anything has changed supposing this assumption indicates a release window. I do agree though. If it's coming out before March 31st then early December would be the time.

When TLAD was released, they didn't stop IV events. Neither did they for TLAD when TBOGT was out.

Rockstar do multiplayer events for their games for a long time to stay in touch with fans and to show they haven't deserted their games. I can see them doing this once V is released for IV, because just suddenly dropping IV once V is out wouldn't look that great and would be pretty callous.

I still believe in a 2012 release.

This!

Thank you for pointing out the thing 2013 people don't seem to understand. I really think R* has a goal they are shooting for and they won't tell us until they're certain they can deliver on that date. When people ask them, "is GTA V releasing this year?". R* says, "we haven't announced a release date yet. Why don't they just take 2012 out of the equation?

They're working to release it this year. It's why we got a trailer last November, 2 screenshots in July, 10 in August, and more information to come this month. 3 of the last 4 GTA games had very similar marketing. They switched things up with IV and the game got delayed. Remember how many times MP3 got delayed? What did R* end up doing? They decided not to give it a release date until they felt confident they could deliver.

Maybe R*'s new strategy is to wait until the last minute to announce the release date.

It wouldn't be callous at all. I mean who would be playing 4 if 5 was out?

In any event it doesn't matter. This information says nothing about a GTA5's release date either way.

I also think it's silly to "believe in a 2012 release". There is no reason to believe it and folks are only setting themselves up for disappointment.

It's the beginning of September. We'll start dropping off by the end of this month, but right now, anything is possible.

for me this calendar doesnt have much of a significance.i dont care when the game will be released because when it will be released,it will be released.but i saw this reply on the fall calendar comments section adn they(R*)said that some of the games not listed in the calendar, can be added later and that gamers will be informed via facebook,twitter,etc.etc. which games will be played online, like MCLA.so here is the response i copy pasted it.Now i know that all of you can see this comment so i was so lazy to make a pic of it:

@makdady12 We might have some playsessions with the game that aren't on the calendar, be sure to follow us on our Twitter, Facebook, Google+ and Steam pages to get the word when we're jumping on in the future...

Did you guys completely skip over this post? This explains it pretty well... They can just add GTA V in after the fact.

There is enough of that on both sides and it's just plain stupid. I hate it and it seriously annoys me to watch people get insulted for their opinions when none of us knows when the game is coming out. Yet you have certain people shouting it in nearly every thread/mention of a release date because they believe their opinion is the correct one and fact.

Yes because I'm sure if GTAV was coming out in November, R* would surely list the multplayer events in their calendar so we all know when to expect GTAV by suicidal.gif

f*ck logic. This forum has none of it.

But incase you are right and R* really would have put GTAV events if it would've been out by then, then I expect their next calendar update to reveal some GTAV muliplayer event dates. I personally believe we'll see GTAV in December.
