All the cars in GTA 4 are automatic and I know most cars in America are as well, but what if certain cars were manual. Like cars from Europa or Asia? Maybe it could be an option. You can choose to have all cars on manual if you want, no cars, or certain cars. I'd personally love the option to drive around in a parody of my Toyota and manually control the gears. Whatchu think? theworldfamous Posted September 4, 2012 Share Posted September 4, 2012 for the appropriate cars it's a cool addition, but keep in mind that a lot of time in GTA you're navigating city streets, which means you're constantly shifting up and down and don't get the advantages of a manual gearbox you'd get on the open road, but all of the frustrations. Whatchu think? most asia cars have both auto gears and manual gears even but according to surveys more than 80% of the people here prefer automatic gears. not sure about Europe though. i doubt people would want it anyway. this isnt car simulator most of the time when you are using a car you are either shooting someone or getting away from cops. the gear thing would be a major distraction Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I think having an option to turn manual shifting on or off would be great if R* could do it. That way the hardcore drivers could have more control while people who just want to go pedestrian bowling etc don't have to worry about ever changing gear. IMO to keep it realistic I wouldn't want all cars to suddenly be manual due to the vast majority of drivers in the US preferring automatic transmission. It would be great for me personally if just a few of the higher performance cars allowed you to change gear... What I'd like to see would be to have three options as SomeManForGTA mentioned: All cars automatic, all cars manual, and a mix of both (as explained above). That way everyone wins! AtomicPunk Posted September 4, 2012 Share Posted September 4, 2012 I've said this for a long time. There should be a few manual tranny vehicles in V. The right analog could be the gear shifter , while L2 could be the clutch. Square is brake. I think it would be a lot of fun to drop the clutch at a red light. As an automatic animation the character goes through I think it is a great idea. Adds 'realism'. From a gameplay perspective, though, it adds little to nothing. AtomicPunk Posted September 4, 2012 Share Posted September 4, 2012 @AtomicPunk you actually stop at red lights? thats cute I'm against it, gta's too much of an action game and not a simulator No. But having many rods and other vehicles over the years, I prefer a manual to an automatic and that's one of the reasons why, you know, to stop on occasion and lay a patch of rubber the way it was meant to be done; or grabbing gears as I pass a loaded log-truck, on a skinny mountain wind, then hearing the whine and rumble of the engine as I gear down to make an up and coming curve, -something you obviously know nothing about---based on your "cute" remark.
