He obviously knew that Tommy was going to be big in Vice, so he figured he'd hire him to get his dirty work done. When he was done he would get rid of him. How he talks to Tommy basically tries to get him to invest trust in Diaz, but it doesn't work, as Tommy has other plans. Where Diaz says he could have Tommy 'made' basically means he could have made Tommy untouchable by other figureheads in Vice. But Tommy obviously knows different. I mean think about it this way, sonny knew that a gang war with diaz could be costly but the solution came to sonny in the form of tommy being released from jail. so here's what sonny does, when cortez sets up the deal between tommy and the vance brothers sonny pays off gonzalez to tell diaz about the said meeting. And even if it is cocaine, why does it automatically mean that's the very cocaine used in the Vice City deal? And finally, could someone explain to me the logic of botching your own drug deal when significantly more money could be made by continuing the business in Vice City's drug trade? MyDog Posted December 9, 2012 Share Posted December 9, 2012 If Sonny already arranged Tommy's jail sentence to shorten and didn't have him killed in jail, then he found some use in him. There's no point to arrange a drug deal in order to cover up killing one insignificant man, plus Sonny is a mafia boss, he wouldn't even need to provide an excuse if he wanted him dead.
