So...How's GTAF going for you guys?

It's going not bad, the foods ok, they've got a good mixture of British foods as well as the local stuff, still can't beat the fry ups at the local George and Dragon. Mind I'm only on half-board so I've not tried the lunches here, but the breakfast buffet is wonderful and the dinner service is nice. The local beach is nice and tidy and they've got those big umbrellas all lined up and they've got one of those Cabana Bar things you know the ones where it's kind of dug down a bit in the sand.

 

Nightlife is good, went to disco the other night and they had all these eighties classics on like Black Lace and The Human League, it was wonderful, going on a tour of the local area tomorrow the Tour Rep set it up for us, so I must remember to take my camera with me for some snaps.

 

Pool is nice although you've got to get there early as all those Germans and their bloody towels, yeah we get it, don't mention the war, so I've got plenty of sun cream and good book. Rooms are nice and spacious, shower was a little wonkey, but I got the reception staff to get someone to come and have a look at it.

 

Anyways must dash, we've met this wonderful couple from Chorley their going to show us this little local restaurant they discovered the other night.

I was very active from my initial join date in 2005 until about early 2008, before I went to college. Even when I wasn't active I would still read the current events, if you will, of the forums on occasion. I've seen a number of forums since joining GTAForums seven years ago, but none have kept my attention like this one. The moderators, admins and forum led-bys run GTAF so well, especially considering the number of members. The staff keep a tight ship, but they are very lenient, as well, which creates the laid back feeling of the forum. Also, GTAF is easily one of the best looking forums I've seen. Other forums I'm a member of look like they're stock skins from an InvisionFree forum. I love the Christmas forum skin, but I've been using the NYCC skin for years.

 

I don't know why I keep coming back to GTAF, because most of the things that I liked most are gone, like the PGC. I understand why that was deleted, though. I think it's simply the social aspects that continue to bring me back, even after months or years of inactivity. I read the forums more now and only post in topics that interest me, rather than posting for the sake of posting.

This place is good. 'Cept a few people, and a few staff. I think we have pretty good led-bys, especially the GTA V forum guys.

The General Chat community is great, mostly the whole forum, excluding the V section. There are some mature members in there, but most are immature. 12 year olds or not, they can be annoying.

But I think everyone needs GTA V in their hands, and then it'll calm down.

This community is very active compared to other forums, and it's definitely not dead. Larger forums like this are more open, but the problem is that you don't really get to know most people. So many different faces... On some smaller forums, I know everyone, and we're all friends. But it's a cycle of a forum, as time goes on, they will get larger. This isn't for every forum though, some will never really grow like some others. It depends on how much people spread the word of it, site traffic, and the genre or subject of the site.

Kinda sh*tty to be honest. Some people in the GTA V section just have no self control or common sense at all, and the forum leaders egging them on with stock photos of crying babies and the Getalife building in Grand Theft Auto IV is only making the situation worse, meanwhile they verbally warn me if I do the same to someone else.

This forum is just as awesome as it was when I first found it. The only difference is that back then I was fascinated by stuff that doesn't fascinate me now anymore, such as the number of members and posts. As many said, the GTA V forum or how it was back then, the GTA NeXt forum wasn't as invaded by Vnoobs as it is now, but this is expectable.

 

So yeah, this place is lovely.

It's a pattern here. The Vice City noobs hated the San Andreas noobs, then the SA noobs hated the IV noobs and so on.

As with most things, you have to learn to take the good with the bad. I have to say that some of the "Vnoobs", as they're affectionately dubbed, are alright. Some even have common sense, manners and speak English pretty well, even the second-language folks (sometimes better). Although, I think it's fair to say that the majority are the complete opposite of that. Despite numerous efforts to educate them in forum etiquette, they still spam the place with posts like "Oh lawlz! U r soo funniez!".

Hmm, GTAF is going great for me, especially in the V section (It's really quit in there, and there are less trolls, so that's a plus), I am also two post away from my 1000th milestone!

It's really the only forum I visit. Sometimes I feel like smashing my head with a refrigerator door being a GTA V led by, but funnily enough this is the most active I've ever been.

Definitely this.

 

The forum is about an 18+ game, yet seems to be full of little kids, most of which are cry babies.

 

To me the forum is simple, and easy to use, it's quick to load and gives me the chance to talk with fellow GTA players and fans from around the world, it's not too big and it's not too small.

God damn how I miss drama here, it was so much more entertaining than anything else on the internet. Public sh*t talking back and forth, gang wars, this forum used to be so ridiculously hostile and yet that was one of the draws of the community. It was like a wild west, everyone trying to get into the best gang, have the most popular, well respected crew of people at their back. Oh, what I wouldn't give for another member like IMU or Yuck Fou, tearing a sh*tstorm of destruction, butt-hurt, general dickheadedness and drama in their wake. But alas, we're in the Facebook generation, where anything but absolute positivity is condemned and if anyone disagrees with someone or calls someone out on their bullsh*t, positive intent or not, they end up facing a sh*tstorm of PCness.

 

But meh, it's going all right, I suddenly feel the urge to post more, so I suppose it could be better or worse, pending perspective.

'Facebook Generation'? A lot of the people here (including myself) hate FaceBook, so I doubt you can really generalize and say that FaceBook is the reason for all the sugar-coating that's going on. This the best example of some nice flaming, it starts with simple things like nitpicking on Paragraphs and then it goes on to things like calling a starving African baby elephant turd, I bet if someone posted a thread like that today they would've been treated like princes. You should read the whole thing, the flaming gets pretty nice.

 

Anyways, yeah, I love GTAF. It's amazing and I love it here, no place can really beat it when it comes to content quality, community size and activity. Not to mention the atmosphere and interface, which is great. I doubt there are many forums which really have all this 'insider lore' etc. From Deepthroat to Demarest. It's great to be here, and I am hoping to be able to stay here for years to come.

what can I say....? Everyones said everything I wanted to say already.

 

 

I started GTAForums as a lurker day after the IV trailer released in 2007. And I remeber reading all the topics about trailer dissection and general excitement and found it all amazingly and intelligently done. Not to metion I soon found this place to be insanely funny! For the next two weeks I found myself retuning day after day seeing what was new round the forums, reading all the arguments, debates, name calling, noob topics, and general douchebaggery and laughing so loud that nearby family members thought I was going insane. I had joined many forums in the past but this was undoubtedly the first one ever that had me hooked.

 

In fact I made a conscious decision to join the forums when I was away from my PC I thought 'you know what thats a good site I will join it when I get back home.' Any site that made me do that must be a pretty cool place indeed.

 

 

After I joined I was your typical troll/noob my sole purpose was to annoy and piss off as many people as possible just for the kicks and giggles. Good times. Yea anyway Ive grown up alot since then and my trolling days are long since gone. its great to see new people come through and grow also in to respectable users. Im also about helping users now, giving advice to people, and helping the kids. Now I see myself kinda like the friendly guy at train stations pointing people in the right direction to get to their desitination.
