For People with both a Console and a Gaming PC

OK, so I've seen some polls about what version you would buy.

 

The question that interests me most hasn't been asked yet to my knowledge, and it is specifically for people who own both a console and a gaming PC.

 

Assuming you would ultimately buy the PC version for better graphics, how long would you be prepared to wait for a delayed release without buying the console to tide you over, effectively buying the game twice?

 

For me I'd wait about three months for the PC without owning the game. If the delayed release was longer than that, I would probably buy the console version, and then the PC when it came out.

I'm buying it day 1. So if it's not on PC day 1, I'm getting it for PS3, and at some point down the line, I'll get it for PC. I might even trade in one copy for the other, but I'm not waiting. Actually, if it's just a week then that's fine, but anything longer...

I'll do the same thing I did for IV, bought the PS3 version day 1 then when I found out it's coming to PC months after I beat it, I got it close to 5 months after release.. though this time I might just get it right away when it gets a PC release

I don't care how long. I made the mistake of buying IV for PS3 (I have all the other games on PC) and now I'm stuck with not being able to mod it.

 

PC > Console all day long.

Max Payne 3 is not huge as GTA so be prepared to wait 6 months. Rockstar would do anything to make you guys buy the console version then later pay for the PC version.

Well, since I developed an allergic reaction to console ports I have a while back made a decision to not buy any delayed games. If they wanna delay it, I don't wanna buy it. For GTAV I'm prepared to make a 2 week exception, if they delay it any longer then that I'm buying it used from ebay.

In other words, I'm not paying full price for delayed console ports any more.

I already have a console and a gaming PC.

Thus, I'm getting it on both. So the wait is kinda irrelevant for me.

I'll buy it for console first, and then the PC later, naturally. I don't really mind how long the wait will be for the PC version - I'll be playing V on PS3 or Xbox (haven't quite decided yet) in the meantime. Actually, I wouldn't mind a 3 month delay, actually. That way I might be able to finish the storyline, and then start having fun with mods.

 

I have PS2 and PC versions of GTAIII, VC and SA, and Xbox and PC versions of IV and EFLC. I simply have to have the games on release. No exceptions.

Rockstar may be developing the PC version alongside consoles this time but no one can speak for them.

You guys get the best version of the game. You guys can mod add missions cars have fun after beating the game while us console users get months early, but get bored after completing the game. We can't mod the game like you guys modding adds years of enjoyment to the game. If i were a PC user i would wait months knowing i will get the best version. GTA is more known than Max Payne 3 so therefore more pirates and longer waits for PC users.

lol true, I bought it for PC after seeing all the mods for it.

for GTA V, I've already built a new pc. All ready to go, there's a very good chance I'll be able to run GTA V on MAX.

I got mine to play IV.

And if the most ridicilous scenario would happen and V would be "next gen", I'd buy that as well just for GTA.

I'd complain about it, but I would still do it.

 

Luckily, that won't happen. And I stand behind that satement even if I don't have the full 100% certainty of it.

It's surprising how many people are out there that would pirate the game for PC instead of buying it for Xbox/PS3 if the game is released simultaneously. Of course it's only a small percentage of people who do that, but it's still profit, considering that GTA is such a hyped up game that everyone wants instantly.

 

To me I don't exactly care when the PC version comes out. If it's simultaneous I'll buy the PC version (but ONLY if this time around it's actually optimized for PC, GTA IV was seriously horrible), if not then I'll just buy the PS3 version.

 

But because of the above stated reason I doubt it'll come simultaneously. I expect a quarter year between Xbox/PS3 and PC version.

Nah. The Xbox version sells great. GTA IV sales are nearly 10 times higher for the Xbox than for the PC.

Considering PC always sells the least copies (and they are usually cheaper too), they always prefer Consoles over PC nowadays.

I'll wait as long as it takes. I have never bought a GTA on release date till now. So, I don't mind waiting. But I hope it doesn't get delayed more than a month. However, R* posting about IV mods on Newswire, favouriting them on youtube, Nvidia tweeting about GTA V are all pushing my hopes up, not to mention the pretty clean PC version of MP3.

I like your idea man, seems 100% reasonable, a good way of telling R* if they don't give a f*ck, you don't either.

This is such silly logic, Xbox and PS3 versions can be pirated as well, besides which pirates are going to pirate the game anyway.

It is very true that console sales are higher, but they made a proper port for Max Payne 3, actually no, it wasn't even a port it was developed specifically for PC and was released only two weeks later for PC (probably to avoid directly competing with Diablo III).

 

There is no real reason they shouldn't release simultaneously other than either poor organisation/laziness.

Even if sales are lower for PC it is still money, and you should be wary when looking at PC sales of games, VG chartz is where most of the information comes from, and that ONLY counts physical copies because steam won't release digital sales data, so PC sales are probably higher than you think.

That's a true point actually.

Perhaps they will release PC a short time after console a month or two after consoles if they really think that people will buy the game twice.

I don't think the data in this poll is exactly reliable though.
