Lock if there's a topic on this or if it's already stated.

We have protagonists such as Tommy, CJ and Vic who use the money they earn to fund their criminal operations, and eventually they become leaders of criminal organizations. On the other hand, we have protagonists like Claude and Niko, who are simply hired guns who have no interest in doing criminal business. So, a simple question: do you think Albert Da Silva will become a leader of a criminal organization or remain a hired gun for the rest of the game?

First of all, we don't know if that's the name of the protag.

Second, I honestly prefer to keep being a hired gun.

Crime bosses don't get as dirty or involved in the day to day adventures of their criminal enterprises. Hired guns are in on the action, and have more freedom to do as they please. I'd rather be a hired gun, sort of a mercinary, where i could just do whatever i want. I wouldn't want all the responsibility of a crime boss, where you are forced to defend your interests. As a crime boss, you would experience more of a forced gameplay situation. I hate having to drop whatever i'm doing to go running somewhere to defend my personal interests, whether it be property or a business. That's fine for a Godfather type of game, but GTA has always been more about a loner type.

Hired gun. Mob bosses sit in they're Mansions, take phone calls and smoke cigars. They rarely get they're hands dirty, steal cars, kill people, so the game just wouldn't make sense. Think about it.

TOTALLY agreed with that, that's exactly why I wouldn't like multiple protags.

On topic, hired gun is much better, every GTA starts from the bottom of the business, and I wouldn't like that to change.

Then I guess you've never played Vice City or Scarface the World is yours.

I want to feel that I own the city by games end, so crime boss.

None of them.

I want to be a freelance criminal that can gather up an armed crew or gang whenever I want to, or feel like it. At the same time, I want to be able to have my own personal criminal and legitimate empire of wealth and assets.

That is more what I'd like.

In VC, Tommy is not the boss right from the start, and even when he becomes a boss, he still has to do pretty much work 'cause of Lance's lazy ass.

We don't but it's the only name we have so far so I like it better than just "protag" biggrin.gif

So you want to start with n, othing, drive all around the city without any real knowledge of what's going on, do some shootouts, finish the game and then have nothing to do but drive around?

Whatever floats your boat.

I always liked being a hired gun, makes me feel important IMO and like a bad ass. In Vice City it felt like I just got everything out of nowhere and felt like I finished the game once I took over Diaz's mansion.

You could have used Ned Luke too. And frankly at this point we should just use John Doe as the protags name, since we don't know who it is yet. More balanced that way.

first off, you don't know what games I've played or haven't played so don't try to dig my history like you know me

I've played VC and I know you start out at the bottom and work your way to the top. I like that sense of progression. I just don't want to play manager throughout the game. Even in SA it got frustrating when you had to fight off rival gangs in those territories.

I want to be a stand alone character that has enough money in the end to whatever he wants rather than a mobster that's tied into a million responsibilities and sleeps with a gun under his pillow. I don't want to be part of any mob for that matter. kinda takes the fun out of it. all I remember from VC at end was running around collecting money... booOOOooring

this is just like the many freelance or crime lord polls that have come before this poll

And again I choose Freelance / lone wolf / Hired Gun, why you ask? because you control your own destiny and you dont have to worry about the crime empire you're running, As a lone wolf your top priority should always be to take care of yourself first and others later

As a freelance you work for all and share no allegiance with any one group, you can favor one over the other like Niiko and the Jamaicans (lil jacob and Badman) or the McReary crime family he still worked for just about anyone that paid good money tho

And Basically A hired gun is a product of a Freelance / lone wolf lifestyle plus who doesnt want to be an assassin?

So again my choice will always be Freelance / Lone wolf / Hired Gun

The ideal would be a hired gun who works his way up to crime boss. Or crime boss who loses everything & has to become a hired gun again. Or multiple protagonists. Or not.

I think you guys are missing the point. I think he means like Tommy that you still do the work but you also own the places.

Then he needed to point who do we want the protag to be from the beginning, or to be at the ending.

If you really felt that way playing Vice City then you never played it properly. How the f**k could you have felt like you got everything out of nowhere ?? You had earn a lot of money to buy the businesses and properties in VC, doing all of that would have taken a good while to do (unless you used to cheats, which you probably did). On top of that you had to complete missions for your businesses to start generating income in VC. Getting Diaz's mansion was far from being the be-all-and-end-all, you still had to complete a big mission for that to start earning an income as Vercetti's Estate.

Man you talk some rubbish.

Everyone has different opinions, you should respect them, just like I should respect your opinion in the reply, as you should respect this reply... Damn my head is going to blow suicidal.gif

So that means I should not express my own opinions on someone else's opinion ? I can respect someone else's opinion if I feel it fit to do so. But if I totally disagree with someone else's opinion, I will be free to express this - why don't you equally respect someone's freedom of expression ? Ah, there is one for you sarcasm.gif

Why does one guy in a thread always have to act like he's some kind of official peacemaker/mediator/counsellor/teacher/guru/wise man ?? Damn....
