SCLASS
The MP of GTAIV SAVED the game for me. Frankly , the trials and tribulations of Nico and his cousin did not bother me. I didnt even finish the game. The mission structure of GTA is well and truly BORING, drive there, kill that, follow him . Of course these are the component parts of many true life crimes, its just the linear nature of GTA missions do not lend to completing them in as many ways as you would hope. There is no 'dynamic' element to the mission , juxtaposed against the VERY dynamic and 'never see the same thing twice' animations ( thanks to Euphoria). It is those experiences that make a game special. A MP game is never repeated the same way twice - races, deathmatches - all of em great fun . I never found GTA missions 'FUN' merely a way to see more and more of the city by unlocking different islands / areas. This may well change in V. If Robbery missions are included with a MGS-like awareness of NPCs meaning I have to tip toe around their house - well ! - now your talking. At the end of the day though MP is where its at for me. Who cares about poor AI when you can play against real people ?
Want Butter With That?
People here seem to think that single player is more important. I agree that it WAS when there was nothing else, but times are changing and I spend way more time on multiplayer now and probably will from now on. In saying all that, I love what Rockstar does with the story and it should be the spearhead of their marketing of the game, just it can't possibly have the same replay value as multiplayer. Science. vans123
With so much hacker and single native trainer user, multiplayer far from fun it becomes boring and furstrating
Johan
Most of the time companies add multiplayer for their games for this exact reason OP, I'll admit I played a lot more of MP on IV the past 4 years or so on the 3 consoles than I played SP but that's mostly because after I 100% it on PS3 I didn't have much to do. Starz
I'll be playing more SP at first than MP. Once I do everything in SP I'll move to ranking up on MP
fastetshot
I like the multiplayer in RDR free roaming with my friends and yes I only play MP with friends. I GTA I prefer the single player.
Eternal Moonshine
I honestly don't care about MP
SmC12
GTA is primarily a single-player game. There's so much content that you don't find online. So of course SP is more important to people - that's where your money is going.
jamieleng
I have never played a GTA game online but I've heard it was good for its time. The franchise has always been first & foremost a single player experience, I don't expect that will change. One thing you can be sure of, the multiplayer in this game will have had a lot more time & care spent on it.
Nun0567
They will focus on singleplayer a lot more, as always. But I expect the multiplayer to be better than the previous GTA. It was very fun but limited because of the map.
Johnny Playert
Look, it's very simple. Clearly, they invested A LOT in the multiplayer for IV so there would be a high replay value after you've completed the game. That's probably why there isn't much to do in singleplayer. You'd have MP to keep you busy. GTA IV's MP is a lot of fun, i sure still play it, but i hope V will have a mix of both. Which i think it will have, since they won't have too much trouble developing MP this time around i guess. ccrogers15
Multiplayer is stupid with all the people modding. I play on PS3, and people have mods for 1 hit kills. I was playing and someone blew up everyones cars in one shot with the pistol. Everyone kicked him. His username was: OLDBUMPJ04 Shame shame shame on him... Click it to see his user. Raynos
Gta Iv single player was awesome. If there was a choice I.e half the length of single player plus a bolt on multi player or Just a full story. I'd glady forfeit multiplayer.
Masher8559
I got bored of GTA 4 MP very quickly, SAMP is miles ahead. That said, the primary reason i buy the GTA series is for the single player stories and open world madness. I play other games such as Warband for my MP fix. Lefteris
GTA IV Multiplayer love? Naah. GTA IV's multiplayer is not that fun if you have played VC:MP/SA:MP/IV:MP. These multiplayer 'mods' are the way GTA MP is supposed to be played for me. If only something like that was made by R* ...
LewisMiller
Even though I will be spending way more time on MP the SP is still more important.
SARDYNA108
I'll be playing more SP at first than MP. Once I do everything in SP I'll move to ranking up on MP This MP is a lot of fun but when it comes to games full of hackers or crying kids or another bullsh*t than I think SP is better becouse there you are alone and you can do whatever you want without others trying disturb you
stevechilds
The thing is gta has a lot of potential, multilayer wise.Gta iv didn't quite hit the mark.Samp is a good example of how gta multiplayer wise can succeed.I am just as interested in multiplayer. aaronimpact
I didn't think IV's multplayer was all that good to be honest. The servers were too unstable. It would take me 10 sessions to find a stable one. Then there is the invisible soundless bullets in player versus player. The only thing I did enjoy was races. Red Dead Redemptions multiplayer on the other hand, was perfect.
B Dawg
A MP game is never repeated the same way twice - races, deathmatches - all of em great fun Wrong. The majority of the races in IV are with Supercars, scrapes only, Midday Clear, the same sh*t over and over again unless you host yourself something different and enjoyable and invite friends. TDM: All Colony Island, Assault Rifles with glitchers who can't shoot for sh*t without them. The Events section is the best thing on these forums. MikeMyth
Mods on PS3 cheating ?...news to me ...any proof ? Ask anyone really, just started happening in back June it's not seen as much now (at least not by me). Although when it was happening June through July a lot of people saw it, especially in Cops n' Crooks as well as free roam.
Jimbatron
Both IV SP and MP were awesome in my view. My big wish - they keep Cops 'n Crooks in V. All for One is the most amazing game mode I have ever played. Any platform, and genre.
wwinterj
Personally I find online to be more "boring" then the single player in most if not all games. The only thing I liked in GTA IV online is free roam. Other than that I don't care about it. Each to there own but in my opinion you shouldn't buy a GTA game just for the online. I do agree with the OP though. Most of the single player missions in GTA IV did get old fast. It wasn't boring but I do hope GTA V changes that. MegaCam
multiplayer isn't that important to me. If they did the same sh*t for MP they did for IV i'll be more than happy. I'd rather Rockstar focus to make single player the greatest yet rather than split the difference by lacking what could have been great in single player to make up for MP. So i say f*ck multiplayer let Rockstar make single player f*cking amazing before they blow time on MP.
Simon_V
I Buy/Play Grand Theft Auto for the singleplayer experience, story etc. Only play multiplayer to get the Trophies/Achievements. PS: I Buy/Play every game for Singleplayer Experience... doesn't bother me if there's no Multiplayer in a video game.
