I think we need a new game to play, I hate to say it but MC's done for me. It was fun while it lasted, but all games seem to have an expiration date depending on the person and for most of us, I think MC's past it. That's not to say that we couldn't still play together as a community, but perhaps run a server for a different game. Hell it could even be in the same vein as MC, something like Starbound or Terraria, but our community is held back by MC. Not only due to our technical limitations (cough, FTB, cough) but also due to our inability to want anything changed. As stubborn as we are about not switching over and alienating people, I think we do more harm by keeping things the same and constantly hoping that server will once again have surge of new activity then changing things up, and potentially alienating a few of the older members. I too wish that I could get the part of me that knows MC like the back of my hand out of my head but I can't. We all know that these extended "leaves of absence" are only going to get longer and longer as time goes on until there is no real server left. I for one am happy to have met and played with most of you guys on the server over the last few years, but if you're seriously going to consider telling me that by this time in 2016 the MC server will still be up and running with the same old great community, then you my friend are in denial. By no means am I saying give up on the server immediately, but perhaps if the much anticipated surge in activity never occurs, we should consider potentially changing the game we play together, or at least having an alternative game to play with the same great people. Even though Garys Mod seems fun I don't think it would have that sort of communal vibe that Minecraft or Space Engineers has. I'd be up for it, even though I doubt my laptop could run it. Getting all the best sandstone and birch wood accessories. But no one comes on so my Charisma and Endurance (Kirsty says mods have to deliver) have flatlined. Kirsty Posted October 5, 2014 Author Share Posted October 5, 2014 Seems like Bukkit is officially dead, it's up to Mojang whether they update it to 1.8 or not, so that could be a long time coming. The alternative we used, Spigot, relied on Bukkit for updates so is trying to function but its having to use workarounds so it doesn't get legal action taken against it. For now, people are waiting on a brand new alternative to come along or using old versions. So it seems like we're coming to our end of days... I'm currently downloading a back up of the map, and I'm going to revert back to 1.7.10 and put a new map on (just for a change of scenery for a little bit), and quietly play some survival for a little while if anyone wants to join in... Are you just saying that, or is there some evidence somewhere that Microsoft is sticking their noses into Mojang's work and forcing them to not update?
