macca82
Not sure if it's something people would like, but I personally think having cars with automatic and manual shifts would give more variety and choice and different styles of driving within GTA V. I also think it'll add another layer to the choices of driving style for the user.

sclodyon
I don't really understand how this could be incorporated; how are you going to change gear in a manual?
ClareXoBearrx3R9
Manual and Automatic gear shifting should be included as options. Automatic by default, perhaps and then manual can be set in an options menu.
GrandMaster Smith
You can actually switch to manual transmission in a way in IV. When you're accelerating, once you start getting high enough RPM's you release the gas (right trigger) then begin accelerating again and you shift up. Also it puts the car into neutral when you barely push in on the gas, and will roll back if you're on a hill for example. I really like how they implemented this into IV, it's so subtle I doubt anyone really even noticed it was there lol

Agreed how could this happen shooting guns while changing gears while controlling your car lolll if they can find a way to make that work it's fine but i think there is more that should be added before that

That 5% are the ones that actually know how to drive. The others know how to point and click. I love the feel of deciding everything a car does in real life and in games. Automatic takes away to much of the fun. I'm a part of the 5% that drive a stick.
Baron-Samedi
Can you imagine online preparing to drive away as fast as possible from the next spawn of the guy you just killed and the cars stalls and you get your head blown off while restarting the engine now that would SUCK hahaha

rixsta
I think expecting people to run with a clutch in game is a bit stupid, It should just be simple push button for up, push different button for down. I think once you start factoring clutches (although it would be as easy and holding the brake and releasing it as you accelerate) would be a bit different to implement. Personally im all for manual being added, Knowing that you can easily just drop a gear and flat out rev it to try get a bit of extra speed would be very useful. There was nothing more painful than in IV slowly to take a corner with a bit of slide but it was still in high gear and just bogged and stopped, the addition of manual would allow you to down gear mid corner so you can power out. Also; I am part of the 5% in Australia with a manual - Hate driving lazy cars.
Dome Piece
Semi-auto should be an option. Clutch and a control pad just do not work. Personally, I would love the option. In GTAIV it was like pulling off in second gear all the time. Also, cars would always run out of power during a slide. If they just make it optional, I dont see how anyone can have any problems. GrandMaster Smith
I personally think it'd be pretty easy to implement The left bumper would be the clutch, and you use the d-pad to shift up and down. You couldn't shift if you didn't push in the clutch, so they can double assign the up and down buttons on the d-pad for when the left bumper's not being pushed. They could also put a little box next to the minimap to indicate what gear you're in. I think it would be really cool and would add alot more realism to the driving. It'd also be fun driving at 70 mph then slamming it into first watching your engine blow up and seeing sh*t drop out from the bottom of your car lol. It would also allow you to do legitimate peel outs too. It's a high hope but I don't see any issue with it whatsoever as long as it's optional, kinda like freeaim vs autoaim. Guest
I don't think it's really that fun driving with manual transmission. I mean of all the games you played which do have it, did you use manual? As far as I remember I've only used manual on GT5... But on GT5 I get way too focused to use manual lol. I want manual in GTA V and then I will use it straight from the start to get used to it and make it a natural habit of driving in that game (I'm not too good with manual on GT5 but I can get by) Along with that we're gonna need a proper driving HUD, speedometers, tachometers, everything. And those who use manual should have faster cars than those who use automatic (they should be applied at modification stores) and most of the older cars should be manual and alot of the newer family cars should be automatic. super cars should also be manual. Outplug
Some cars there should have it based on maybe something you've toggled in settings, and there could be a breed of cars made specifically with manual, that may have some slight differences over their automatic / manual if-set-in menu counterpart, other than the fact that they're stuck in manual. Adding full manual to GTAV will happen. #FACT

JOKA22
As much as I like the purist completely manual/cockpit view settings on racing games, I don't think a fully fledged manual gear system would work with gta. Yes it sounds fun in theory, and depending on how they would implement it it might work, but I seriously doubt they'd be any practical way. Todays consoles simply don't have enough buttons, and I think it's best that it's left that way. You'd lose the fluidity between the combat controls and driving. (there's innovation and there's breaking what already works and doesn't need fixing)
