W3BB13
Okay, I think I get it now. So this is basically a small version of MGS. So are we getting a full or larger one later on? Have you ever played MGS2 and/or MGS3? In MGS2 when you first start the game you have to play through the "Tanker Chapter", which is basically a prologue, or an introduction, to MGS2. When you first start playing MGS3 you have to play through the "Virtuous Mission", which is basically a prologue to MGS3. Ground Zeroes serves as the prologue to The Phantom Pain, so it was never expected to be very long. That's why they're selling the game for only $30: because it's not a full game. It's kind of like an extended and refined demo to keep us busy while we're waiting for The Phantom Pain. The Phantom Pain is the full game, and it probably won't be released until 2015. Daz
They have only stressed that the main storyline will take 2 hours, they didn't say if that is gameplay wise or if it included cutscenes. The 5 side ops, I have no idea how long they could take so hopefully these will be more than just a small task. What I am wanting is some extra replayability, other than the achievements. Secret weapons or cheats to unlock. I also hope the gameplay enables you to really play with the AI and physics. Otherwise it won't last that long and I do try to savour my games as much as I can. I fear it might only be replaying it without being spotted and that will be it. Even with the Deja vu mission, what can you really do with just one map area. If there is a few more areas at least of the same size as the one we have been shown at least that is something but it is kind of a pisstake how much we have seen so far and how small it actually is. Time will tell I guess. But if it is as short as we think, they really should be pricing it differently. And by short I mean once you complete everything 100% including achievements. The Notorious MOB
It's amazing how much of Ground Zeroes story is known to us already due to the various trailers that have been released by Konami. Here's a little video I put together using the various trailer for both Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain showing how I think the game will play out . Bear in mind (as the topic title states) this is just my take on the order on which things happen and I can't wait to find out how wrong or right I was when GZ is released in two weeks time. The whole video is 40 minutes long but I've added links so you can skip the gameplay. Feedback is much appreciated guys. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gMpFgp6bas Edited March 6, 2014 by Money Over Bullshit

Daz
Leaked hmm? Very tempting to spoil myself but I best not. Though it would be nice to know if the game actually IS two hours or not, or if anyone can confirm other areas than just the base we have seen in the videos. If they have been streaming it for 2 days, I guess that beats streaming for 2 hours. I hope it is available as a downloadable at launch. I bought it retail but it would be nice to have that option if it doesn't arrive in time.

Th3MaN1
I'll be honest, I didn't give two sh*ts about the series, until I watched some MGS 5 (Ground Zeroes or Phantom Pain or whatever the f*ck it's name is) gameplay. This sh*t is f*cking awesome. I'm not concerned about Ground Zeroes (or Phantom Pain, man f*ck all this confusion) standing out as a 'tutorial', with it being a 30$ game with 2 hours length. I'd have to say it's a lot better than something like that f*cking Rambo game, being a piece of sh*t 2 hours game and if I remember correctly, it's price was either 40 or 60$. f*ck that. I don't blame Kojima for this choice at all. Though it's kind of a hard decision to spend 30$ on 2 hours of fun. I'm sure the story is interesting, but as I never got into this franchise before in any way, I find it confusing as f*ck. Daz
FullMetal
Play the f*cking old games or read up on it. There are enough 'game news sites' that provide links to decent 'chronological' story read ups of the entire MGS franchise. I never owned consoles in the past and never could play the MGS games myself. Tho played MGS/MGS2 at a friend's place and was instantly hooked. Years went by/never having the possibility to actually follow up on the games/franchise in general. Have a ps3 now for quite some time but only now I finally got around buying the Legacy collection (tho I played MGS almost a year ago, downloaded it off PSN + read the graphic novel which is actually MGS/MGS2. Currently playing MGS2... game is hard as f*ck not to mention still f*cking fresh to play. Awesome as hell. MGS is the sh*t... end of story. Hating on MGS is hating on epicness... Th3MaN1
^Will do. What actually confused me is that I saw scarce footage of the older (PS2) MGS games, and I liked it. But then I saw MGS4 and all I could see were robots and sh*t.
Boxman108
Saw a leaked playthrough of the main mission before it got taken down, and it is apparent that this game really isn't worth more than $15. The guy took less than two hours, and much of that was either cutscenes or sucking at the game and dying repeatedly. I could easily see this taking 5 minutes for anyone decent at the game. For anyone hoping the story makes up for it, well, I'll just say it comes nowhere close to the early parts of MGS2 or 3. Daz

I seriously doubt that anyone is going to get their money's worth out of it, no matter how hard they try to stretch the game out - or bullsh*t themselves. Even if you could somehow squeeze five hours out of this game, that still wouldn't be good value for money. I love Metal Gear and I really want to play this but to charge anything over £10 for a game this short is just ridiculous and people shouldn't be buying it. It's just going to encourage other publishers to head even further down the dark path. People seem to agree that it's bullsh*t initially and yet as it draws near, all of a sudden everyone forgets and can't wait to buy it. "Oh, but collectibles!" they say. Gimme a f*cking break. Daz
MGS is the sh*t... end of story. Hating on MGS is hating on epicness... ^ This, I defo recommend anyone who is missing a game (1, 2 or 3) to really catch up with them, they are still amazing for how old they are. Even MGS 2 still holds up being well over 10 years old. Peace Walker is a bit odd, it is not entirely needed to play as most of it is just repetitive gameplay replaying missions and it took a f*cking lifetime to complete 100% and get all the achievements, you could probably just find all the cutscenes and audiologs(pretty much codec quality conversations) on youtube. But then I saw MGS4 and all I could see were robots and sh*t. f*ck that game man. Though I only played it once on someone elses PS3, I got a good runthrough on it and really I wasn't all that happy with the story, it felt like utter stupid fanservice with stupid plots and totally ridiculous stuff in it. I would save that till last as it will only confuse you. The main mission is about 1 or 2 hours long but there's side ops and collectables to be discovered so if you want to get your moneys worth you definitely can. Well, the issue here isn't that the main story is short, or it only takes 2 hours to finish, and even with side ops and collectibles and achievements. What gameplay is there in this game that we can drag out for at least a week or two playing it? I will enjoy it most likely, but this is like demo level scale, it is not even arcade game scale. We at least needed a co-op mechanic or multiplayer or some other areas to mess around with, or some sort of mission editor. Because right now, regardless of if there is 3,4,5 or even 10 ways to complete the mission, how long is that really going to last? Especially to ever replay the game again after having your time with it. It seems kind of like a wasted effort. We need something else to make it last a little longer. I would rather have just watched the cutscenes on youtube, or had this be released as a demo now, for everyone, that way everyone can get excited about it. Because who is even going to buy this other than hardcore fans, even some of those don't want to buy it. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind is going to buy this that isn't fully into metal gear. Th3MaN1
FullMetal
I actually find (in the game itself) MGS2 story to be messier than MGS4's. Might be because I really hate Gayden and because I read the comic which made sense and played MGS4 before the rest (and for some reason he's pretty badass in MGS:Revengeance, so f*ck you Hideo). Also... 14 hours in and still not finished. Holy f*cking sh*t... MGS1 was the same so the rest will also take a long ass time to complete. Hope I can finish it all in time for Ground Zeroes. esmittystud101
So, The big MGS game is coming out in 2015 now? It does say it is 200 times larger than its prologue. http://www.ign.com/articles/2014/03/17/metal-gear-solid-5-the-phantom-pain-may-release-early-2015 Just add it to the list. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - 2015........might as well say Tom Clancy's The Division will too.........just a guess but the trend is getting bigger and larger every week. I see a trend starting now. I wonder why all the delays? Do they know something we don't? Meaning, are things changing on their end? Boxman108
It seems to me the exclusive stuff and release dates this time around are awful. UK gets Peace Walker free, but only through preordering on PSN and only for the PS3 version. Only the US gets the reversable cover for some reason. NZ has to wait an extra week due to some Xbox version f*ck up. Japan pretty much gets tons of cooler stuff. Both the exclusive missions shouldn't be exclusive but I don't doubt they'll wait to sell them as DLC for the other console.
Tracksuit Hitman
I couldn't care less if the game is two hours or not. I've always been a fan of the MGS series and I won't miss the experience of playing another MGS game just because there's rumours of the game having a short storyline. I'm more excited for The Phantom Pain than I am for Ground Zeroes, but that won't stop me from enjoying playing as Snake once more. I couldn't care less about achievements or any of that bullsh*t, although I'll probably try and unlock as many as I can, just to show off and boast about being simply awesome at MGS. I didn't like Peace Walker because it was too much like the sh*tty Portable Ops games. But hey, at least they weren't as bad as MGS ACID on the PSP. God, ACID was such a failure. If I wanted to use cards to play a game I'd get YUGIOH. E: this sounds so cool. Additionally, it's been confirmed that player's actions during Ground Zeroes will carry over onto your Phantom Pain save. For example, characters rescued will be available within The Phantom Pain. Actions performed in the prologue game will also have repercussions at the conclusion of the follow-up. And the way it goes for Xbox is that unless it has the arcade bar across the top and generally doesn't have a disc release it means it is a full retail title, despite what PSN says about it not being full price so it doesn't get a platinum trophy which makes sense. Regardless it isn't a demo, it isn't an arcade title, it is a budget title. I just want my money's worth out of it. Don't get me wrong, none of us would even be in here unless we gave a f*ck about playing it, but that still doesn't change the fact I probably would have rathered just waited and had this compiled onto the start of TPP. There is no need to just sh*t this part of the game out right now unless it is very important we experience it differently. What they should have done is compiled the first mission with this, then made it a multiplayer and co-op based game and focused more on that or aspects from PW for the replay value and to test the multiplayer out before TPP is out. That way we could actually get gameplay from this. Because when you look back, you don't need this to be separate at all. At the very least it should be included into TPP as the entire game. Or that you get TPP cheaper if you bought GZ. I just want more of a complete game not just a taster, that will only make my need for TPP worse. I would rather have just waited and have it all bundled together. Oh well, f*ck it. May as well beat it as fast as possible to avoid spoilers ruining it, because it is the only game series that a spoiler might actually spoil the game for me.
