W3BB13
I feel like I'm one of the only ones who is extremely happy that TPP will be on the PS3. I have no interest in buying a PS4.
Boxman108
No next gen consoles for me either. WiiU maybe for the exclusives but there is really nothing that makes the PS4 or X1 a must buy to me.
Daz
I could have made that Special Edition PS4 myself lol. Also I wish MGSV was Next-Gen exclusive. More polish for the superior versions. I understand PS3/Xbox 360 sales blahblahhh but we may not see another MGS title for who knows how long. I cannot wait for when all games coming to XB1/PS4 will be exclusive to them and not cross-gen. I think the problem we all face is trying to justify moving to next gen consoles. Right now it seems like such a stupid idea, we have so much invested in them in terms of games and friends that why throw it all away when we can still continue to get these games on current gen, even if we have watered down versions. Though I feel these will become worser and worser, not that the next gen versions push too far ahead but the fact that the new game engines wont run as well on old generations and they seem to scale graphics back as a result. Look at Battlefield 4, how did that come off worse than any other Battlefield game? Bad Company 2 even looked better than Battlefield 3 and that looked better than Battlefield 4. It just ain't going to get pretty. I understand what you mean though, I would love the legroom for those games to reach out as far as they possibly can without having to worry about making sure old generations can keep up. I have just ordered GZ on 360, I figure I will get all I can out of it now, then if it ends up looking too terrible, I will get a PS4 and switch over. But I guess there is no rush unless there is something very important on next gen I must have. That only happened with Battlefield as 64 players on console is what I have wanted for 9 years. I hope we get some better in-game footage soon, because at this point this seems like a throwaway game. I also noticed the wording of news articles saying we could also buy this on digital even on 360 on launch, so I wonder if it will be considered an Arcade title or not. It would be nice to download it on day 1 but I plan on downloading it for PS4 when I get one. So it would be nice to own the case for it. £22 at GAME also. Anyone know the deal with the preorder bonus missions? I can't find them on websites, are they just locked into the disc and only show up depending on which version you get? I don't want to have bought the 360 version for nothing.

The bonus missions are console exclusives, not a preorder bonus. So if you buy it on PS3/PS4 version you get the "Deja Vu" mission, and if you buy the Xbox 360/Xbox One version you get the "Raiden" mission. I just don't want to end up without it having preordered from somewhere else. I also wonder what games will do eventually with preorder bonuses, because if games are available on day one for download and it becomes more of a common thing, hopefully awful preorder bonuses will just die out. I would rather just choose the one I want when I download it. I am still waiting for some multiplayer news, the game is out in just over 4 weeks time. I hope there is actual co-op or at least player vs AI in some bot hunt modes. It will probably end up being some sort of create a mission like Hitman Absolution had knowing my luck. esmittystud101
I just think its dumb to have different missions for different consoles. They all should have the same amount. Just saying.

I was worried it wouldn't then a tweet from Kojima in response to the short 2 hour game time he mentioned things like side missions and "multiplayer features" or something along those lines, but I guess you can't be sure what that is or if it was translated poorly. Btw, comparason video here: Other than next gen versions being a little brighter, a tiny bit clearer, and better FPS, it doesn't look actually that bad to be honest. It for sure isn't the scale of assf*ckery that BF4 has. So maybe TPP on current gen won't be too terrible of an idea.

Daz
By "multiplayer features" Kojima may just be talking about leaderboards, but hopefully it's more than that. I couldn't find the wording, I am pretty sure it was in one of the joystiq articles but they may have edited it. But I found this: https://twitter.com/HIDEO_KOJIMA_EN/status/431229095712538624 Sounds like you might be right, but honestly who has ever cared about a leaderboard? Games have always had those, why is this any different? What a waste of time. Sounds like I will defo be done with it 100% in a day. Only 5 side ops too. Time to go hang myself. Boxman108
Yeah, only gonna pick it up on 360 used when it gets real cheap. Can get far more for my money with old RPGs going for $10 or less.
W3BB13
I'm getting it for free so the cost is of no concern to me, and I know it's short but I also know I'll still get several hours out of it. It doesn't have to be very long for me to enjoy it, and fortunately for me the ladies tell me the same thing Creed Bratton
tuareg
Can't wait to play the sh*t out of it on the 360. I'll get a lot out of it so i couldn't care any less how short it is. I've probably payed more for games with less content before so i'm all good. I will buy a ps4 once the phantom pain comes out though. We wont be seeing that until late 2015 if not early 2016 so that's enough time to get the money for a funciotional version of the ps4.

Zancudo
I think he might be realistic about that release date. And that's why prologue was a fantastic idea - even while being priced at that little too high price - we get to play the first excerpt earlier, and support the developers in terms of improving The Phantom Pain's gameplay. W3BB13
Yeah, I wouldn't be at all surprised if TPP doesn't release until around November 2015 knowing the history of the series. I agree that releasing the prologue early was a great idea, regardless of the price and length. Hopefully it'll contribute to making TPP that much better as you said. esmittystud101
The game only cost $30 now. How long of a game is it? Does it even have MP? Don't get me wrong $30 is nice, but is scares me at the same time.
Daz
I believe the multiplayer Kojima mentioned turns out to be just online leaderboards. Such a disappointment. They said 2 hours, I guess if you rush the story, and apparently there is 5 side ops. But even though these days I try not to finish games too fast, I honestly can't see this game lasting more than a weekend, or so, even including getting all the achievements. I will buy it because how can I not. It is metal gear. But this should have been classed as an Arcade only downloadable title for under $10. TPP is so far away I fear this is only going to accelerate my want for that game rather than plug it up. Edited February 26, 2014 by Daz
esmittystud101
2 hours of gameplay. Wow is all I have to say. I like MGS, but 2 hours of gameplay is a slap in the face and you know how much of it will be cutscenes. If I was an investor in that company I might have to have an emergency meeting regarding what direction the franchise is going. People who are okay with only 2 hours of gameplay are just fooling themselves. Dissapointed
Boxman108
Apparently the extra stuff adds a few more hours but, despite how much I like Peace Walker, story is a main component to the series and 2 hours(and speedruns done in 5 minutes) is not enough to warrant$30. W3BB13
It's funny how so many people really think they'll only get two hours out of this game. Maybe I'm just different from most people since I don't really play many games and I take my time with them, but I have no doubt that I'll get several hours out of this game. Boxman108
Thing is I don't want just several, even if for only half price of a new game. Been playing through both Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy IX recently and only for $10 each I've been able to get more than 10 hours on both of them. I got MGS4 for $5 and got at least 5 hours my first time through. GZ being only a prologue to MGSV should have been revised to have a longer main mission for the lack of any significant story. W3BB13
Were you satisfied with five hours on your first run of MGS4? I ask because MGS4 was a full game worth $60 when it was first released and you only got three more hours out of that than you're expecting to get out of GZ. I know you said you only paid $5 for it, but we know it was $60 when it first came out. I don't know anything about Chrono Cross or Final Fantasy but I would have to assume that both of those games were $60 when they were first released as well, amirite? Whatever they cost, they were full games. There's no reason to expect to get as many hours from a prologue as you get from a full game. No disrespect intended, but it sounds like maybe you were expecting more than you should have from a half priced game (less than half if you buy the digital version for $20). esmittystud101
This is all going on pre release of the game: If you would have told me say Bioshock Infinate was only 2-4 hours of gameplay in a single player only game, before release. I would be dissapointed. (I was dissapointed anyway, no multi player) If you would have told me say Dead Rising 3 was only 2-4 hours of gameplay in mostly a single player game, before release. I would be dissapointed. Can everyone see where I'm going with this? Nothing good comes out of a 2-4 hour gameplay length, pre release review from people. Sounds like to me though it will be around the length of one of my Dead Rising 3 DLC. But I get they are coming out in parts, so to each his own. W3BB13
BioShock Infinite and Dead Rising 3 are both full games worth $60, while Ground Zeroes is no more than a prologue for $30 ($20 for the digital versions). I don't understand why you're comparing a prologue to full games. Isn't it pretty obvious that a game that's half priced and labeled as a prologue isn't going to be as long as a full game? As you said, to each their own, but comparing the length of BioShock Infinite to GZ just doesn't make sense.
esmittystud101
Yeah, I didn't know they were two different types of games. I'm new to the whole prologue games. I have played MGS in the past, but it didn't know they were called prologue games. Can anyone give me more prologue titles so I can get a sense of what they are? edit: I found this on Yahoo answers: Prolouge basically means that GT5 Prolouge is like a early version of GT5. And just because GT5 Prolouge is an early version, it doesn't mean that it's going to have glitches or bugs with the game because it's not a demo. GT5 Prolouge is meant to give you a taste for how the full GT5 game will be. GT5 Prolouge is just a much shorter version of the full game.GT5 Prolouge will have around 40+ cars and several race tracks, but the full GT5 game will have 700+ cars and a whole lot more race tracks. The full GT5 game is scheduled to come out late 2008. GT5 Prolouge is coming out in April. Edited February 26, 2014 by esmittystud101
esmittystud101
Okay, I think I get it now. So this is basically a small version of MGS. So are we getting a full or larger one later on?
Frantz Fuchs
Okay, I think I get it now. So this is basically a small version of MGS. So are we getting a full or larger one later on? It's basically a prequel to The Phantom Pain. Some accident happens at the end of this game, which causes Snake to go in a coma for 7 years(I think), and he wakes up at the start of the new game.
