initium
Is it possible that we will get some kind of installation disc? Imagine installing GTA V on your xbox 360 or PS3. After that, you insert the gameplay disc. This way the map can be bigger, the graphics more detailed, and the story could be longer than ever before! The same technique with the realistic faces in L.A. Noire can be included as well that way... I see it as possible
WhatThe?
I don't mind if you have to install the game on a HDD, but I don't mind changing discs either, it gives me motivation to get off my bed... I could see a problem with people who have only 4GB, but oh well.
Gtaghost22
Blu-ray (PS3) can hold up to 50 GB which is more enough if you asked me so it isn't needed. And the 360 would just get multiple disks like LA.Noire/Max Payne

They could no longer make games with a mandatory install, had to be optional. Thanks Microsoft.
Shoumaker
Blu-ray (PS3) can hold up to 50 GB which is more enough if you asked me so it isn't needed, this might be done for the 360 though. Agreed, and Im a pc gamer anyways so ill be installing the whole game in my HDD
r0eladn
but I don't mind changing discs either, it gives me motivation to get off my bed... Yeah i also get off my bed once in a while.. Like 4 times a week, rough estimate though. I am all for installation. As you said, allows the game to be bigger.

I got a PS3 last year, but I didn't like it one bit! I thought the controller was uncomfortable, the online Kinda sucked. That's my own opinion though, so no fan wars please! The same technique with the realistic faces in L.A. Noire can be included as well that way... I see it as possible Not possible. First of all, I think at least 90% of PS3 games are installed into HDD. I think I have one game that did not have mandatory installation.. Second, not all xboxes have HDD's and MS does not apporve games that are not playable in all the systems. (like I've said ten times today.. xD) Unless of course, R* has made a very unlikely and ballsy move to ditch xbox, but I don't think that's the case here. Or did you mean that people with HDD's have better and bigger game than those who play from the disk? No.

I could see a problem with people who have only 4GB, but oh well. The 4GB Xbox is capable of jack sh*t. I bought one and I bought Battlefield 3. Long story short, couldn't download the HD textures so I had PS1 graphics. Worst investment of my life.
bluAstrid
Forza 4 had such discs. An install disc with tracks & cars, A play disc with physics engine and everything else.

jamieleng
Microsoft doesn't allow mandatory installs due to the fact they were stupid/tight enough to sell 360's sans hard drive. So no it won't happen.
IX GhOsT X1
Downloading the game to your HDD would make the graphics look some what nicer, but I dont think its possible to expand the map of the game just by downloading it to HDD.

People with a HDD should be able to install a pack to make better textures and reduce loading times.

Johan
Pretty sure you have to install the game on both PS3/360 but 360 will ask for 3 disks minimum IMO lol As for PS3 just put disk in, install, play.
Adriaan
The higher resolution textures is not a space issue, but a ram issue. The consoles just don't have enough to be able to display resolutions any higher than they are in such an open world. I mean, the resolutions were the same on PS3 than what it was on Xbox 360. It's not as simple as you might think. The only difference was that the videos displayed on the in-game tv was of a higher quality.

Sgt. Foley
What you're saying, is that if there was an installation disc for extra content, like Forza Motorsports, would you install it? f*ck YEA! Who wouldn't?
Triple Vacuum Seal
I actually hope the content is downloaded off the disk onto the HDD for Xbox 360 instead of fitting onto one disk because then I wouldn't have to worry about load times. Not much of a gamer outside of the occasional GTA, so space isn't an issue for me at all. GTAV won't even put a dent in my HDD space. *this thread will turn into a console war "shut up, sit down, relax"

r34ld34l
I remember back in day where "HD" textures were already on disc. Soon they will charge for better textures, better camera view,... Just hoping R* doesn't follow this path...

Just because it hasn't been done right yet, doesn't mean it can be done. I personally think that upgrading hardware and forward compatibility are the future of console gaming. Do you really expect Sony and Microsoft to keep making these consoles that turn to sh*t after a few years compared to what the modern technology at that time can do? Kifflom112
nope, console cant run better graphics. You and idiots like you better be trolling. If I'd met someone who said that in real life I'd probably whack them with a crowbar! The consoles haven't even been pushed to their limits, stop thinking you know sh*t about consoles when you don't. OT: No I don't mind installation disks, people really need to get out and get "lives" if they're too lazy and/or whiny to change disks. "HD Textures Packs" are free of charge. i'm a PS3 owner by the way so it isn't an issue for me, and i don't think it bothers X360 owners that much, 4 GB 360 owners will suffer i know but what can we do, really? I blame Micro$oft.

However the chances of ever having to change discs in this day and age for a GTA is looking like zero in all honesty. A one time installation disc solves everything. It's actually a better alternative. Edited August 30, 2012 by canttakemyid "shut up, sit down, relax"

They pretty much stuffed themselves, releasing DVD Xboxes was a mistake but an acceptable one given what was happening back in the.bluray war. But then to release consoles without hdds was just stupid. The consoles haven't even been pushed to their limits, stop thinking you know sh*t about consoles when you don't. Not pushed to the limits? Yeah that explains why most games struggle to run at 30FPS without frame rate drops.
