Gun: Assault Rifle? (AK47 [Type 56-II])
user posted image

In GTA IV, (same era) the Assault rifle is the lower tier fully automatic heavy machine gun in game. The gun costs $3500 + $80 for magazines. It does 40 points of damage per round and shoots at 450 rpm. Known customization items are: Silencer and red dot sight.

Gun: Carbine Rifle? (M4 Carbine)

It does 30 points of damage per round and shoots at 450 rpm. Known customization items are: Laser sight. The reason I'm suggesting that the gun the NOOSE officer is holding in that screen is the CR is because in IV, NOOSE officers always carried Carbines in the choppers. Of course, V may be different and that could be a sniper rifle, but as of now I'm almost positive that that's a CR.

Gun: Pistol? (Glock 17 or 19)
user posted image

While I can't see for sure, it looks as though this officer is reaching into his holster to pull out a gun. I'm not positive that he is doing so, but if he is, he's probably reaching for the Glock 17 or 19 (IGN: Pistol). This is the pistol that is carried by LAPD officers. (Fixed by UP9390)

Weapon: Nightstick
user posted image

In III era games, the nightstick was the low tier melee weapon used most commonly by police. It did not reappear in GTA IV, but judging from the trailer, they might be back in V.

From the San Andreas Wiki

The Nightstick is a melee weapon assigned to each cop in the GTA III Era since Grand Theft Auto: Vice City as a standard melee weapon. Although not as powerful as the Baseball Bat, it has an advantage of being a single-handed weapon and thus a quicker running speed. It cannot be purchased from hardware stores or Ammu-Nation, therefore it is only obtainable from killing a cop or finding it at a spawning point. A nightstick is seen in the GTA V trailer when the LSPD are chasing a suspect which leads to the possibility of being a weapon.

Weapon: Golf Club

In III era games, one of the most popular melee weapons was the Golf Club. Again, IV did not feature this weapon, but with the return of actual golf courses (not driving ranges), we might see this weapon back in the spotlight

From the GTA Vice City Wiki:

It has moderate power and long reach, allowing the player to attack several enemies providing they are close together. It can be swung whilst stationary, or running. Interestingly, if the player attacks a person who is lying on the floor or dead, he swings the club as he would for a golf shot. The golf club is a very useful weapon to use on victims on the ground, as it is used very quickly once a person falls down.

Weapon: Tennis Racket?

The tennis racket, as seen in the set of screenshots titled 'Leisure', could possibly be a melee weapon. (As suggested by gta_aus) If so, this would be the first time this weapon would be seen in the series.

Weapon: Hammer?

The hammer, as seen in the '2405' scene in Trailer 1, may come back as a weapon. The last time we saw a hammer as a usable melee weapon was GTA Vice City. (As suggested by ClaudeSpeedRulez)

The baseball bat, as seen in the 'leaked' ads for V, could possibly be a returning weapon (

It was locked for a reason, there is already a huge weapon topic made a long time ago with a whole load of posts made in it! It just went quiet for a while! I tried to find it but I couldn't so I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure I'm not!

That was about weapon mods though and how they should be handled this is trying to be closer to a Database like the Vehicle database topic made right after the trailer.

Laser Pointers appear in GTAV!

Then silencers return, too!?

So many suprises, I wonder what else R* will have for us?

I hope fully they have a punch different variety of pistols, assualt rifles, sniper rifles, rifles, shotguns, melee, and explosives like RDR.

Maybe the golf club should be added to the list of melee weapons, because of the trailer? I mean R* said it was all gameplay, and the golfers were pedestrians, so it would make no sense to kill the pedestrian and not be abl to take the golf club.

On second thought, that wouldn't be too unbelievable, considering in IV peds are often carrying stuff that you cant pick up.

On third thought, the stuff you can't pick up is non-interactive stuff like bags & cell phones. You can pick up burgers/drinks though to throw at people.

IN CONCLUSION, I think that the golf club will be a weapon in IV. Of course wait until further evidence before putting it in the OP though.

Sorry for the double post: Updated the thread to look like the Vehicle Database topic. Messaged mods for a move to the Official subforum. Added a new picture for the nightstick and added a Pistol section.

I miss the hammer from Vice City, I loved the sound it made when it whacked people over. I hope they bring back more melee weapons this time.

Kinda disappointed that only the knife, baseball bat and pool stick were the only melee weapons in GTA IV.

Btw you should add this to the assault rifle list. Possibly an AK-47 without the silencer.

Ah my bad, didn't see that.

No worries! I wish the heli's light wasn't producing so much glare. We probably could see what the guy in the cargo bay is holding if it didn't.

New weapon: The tennis racket?

Beating someone down with one would be pretty funny, better yet: Points for beating someone to a pulp with a toilet plunger or strangling some asshole with a bra. R* can even take it a step forward, making it possible to throw bacon on someone and let the vicious attack dogs out. Now that would be a bold new direction GTA for sure.

The red scope is from the helicopter..

I know, thats why the attachment for the Carbine rifle (that NOOSE officers carry in Heli's) is the laser sight.

If the pistol used by the LSPD is Glock, it will be the Glock 17 or 19, LAPD doesn't used .45 caliber rounds for pistols, also they use Berreta 92FS and a revolver( i don't remember what the model is ) , but im not sure if they will appear as well.

I recall someone saying they showed silencers in some older GTA IV shots/trailers too, but it never made it into the game. Is this true? If so..i just hope that won't be the case for GTA V. I love silencers, it will make for such great new ways to take people down without those pesky cops always getting at you. It's gonna make stealth missions much more fun and simply for messing around and ESPECIALLY if there's flying rats again.

Unless those AK's with the silencers from the bank scene in the V trailer are 'readied' models of the guns, this must mean there's weapon customization in the game. But it's possible that you buy these guns like that. But i kinda doubt it. It would mean you can buy a AK without anything attached, AK with silencer and red dot or both, or just only with silencer or red dot. No way they are gonna do that. Really seems like weapon customization to me and i welcome that feature with open arms!!!!

Well, I've seen 3 different variations of the AK while compiling this thread.

The first being the one with the silencer. The second one has a silencer, as well as what appears to be a red dot sight. The last one is just the base model with no attachments. It looks like customization is highly possible.

How about the Hammer in that "For Sale 2405" scene of the trailer?

Ouch man, if that's going to be a usable weapon, the sound of when it hits people's heads is gonna sound brutal. The melee weapons in IV weren't too special, just the bat and knive, right? We need much more usable items as weapons. If the golf stick and hammer really come back as weapons, that's a very nice start.

I put it up there, I really hope it comes back from Vice City.

Using a hammer as a weapon would be some really brutal sh*t
