Can anyone prove the change in their site?

Yeah they changed something at GTA V site today at 5:05 GMT. It's at the bottom of this website http://rockstarinformer.com/

 

But how to see what was that?

if that's right it was around midnight NYC time, who's gonna be working then?

Yeah, but this widget is actually monitoring official GTA V website source code for changes.

Does that "nifty little widget" really work?

Checking the site code for changes is super easy, and therefore I have no reason to think it doesn't work.

 

Besides they once showed the comparison of codes when R* changed something. I just can't find it now.

Hey, i'm wondering if this widget really works. If the last update was August 18th, how about August 24th, when R* released last screens?

The widget most definitely gets the source via a simple http request, calculates the hash for it and compares this hash with the hash from the last check.

If they match --> no change on website.

If they don't match --> change on website

 

Usually most changes happen because of changing IDs/APIs for tracking backends (google webmaster tools and stuff) and changing remote includes.

Why should they compare word by word? Application-wise every String.compareTo() method will use the hash and not iterate through every word and compare them.
