customizable
So far...Classic: 1. V2. The Ballad of Gay Tony (took IV to another level)3. The Lost and Damned (the fact that you could free roam around LC from the start without any constraints alone makes this one worth the price of admission)4. IVExcellent:5. San Andreas6. Vice City (timeless game that could never be duplicated)7. Vice City Stories8. Liberty City StoriesGood: III (groundbreaking, but hasn't aged well), Chinatown Wars, 2 and Advance....never played '61, '69 and the first official game. I evaluate by gameplay, mission design and platform (bias). And please let TBoGT be the last game to feature LC.Overall:San Andreas and EfLC are the best in terms of gameplay, but newcomers to the series should start with the more accessible ones (Vice City and V). loki18760
0)GTA1/GTA2/london (series origins can't compare with modern) 1)San Andreas (Set what the series standard should be on Fun) 2)Ballad of Gay Tony (brought the fun into the HD era) 3)Lost and the Damned (what a dark story line should look like) 4)VICE CITY (Best theme of them all most cohesive) 5)GTA-4 (To depressing and a step back for GTA, mafia storyline feels overplayed and dated) 6)GTA-3 (Less and less forfilling but great for the time it released) 7)Chinatown wars (Still better than the "stories") 8)VCS (recycled from VC and not thought out) 9)LCS (recycled map and a play out mafia story)
Irrational
1. Grand Theft Auto III (The game that made me fall in love with the series.) 2. Vice City (Such a masterpiece, the setting and the music, and a protagonist with such ambition and great story is what made Vice CIty such a groundbreaking game, but he will never beat III) 3. Grand Theft Auto 2 (Indeed, a game that sets in the future with my fav protag, it had some cool music and..."innovative" vehicles and weapons) 4. Grand Theft Auto (The game that started it all, it has some memorable music and takes place in 3 different cities, it was enormous and ambitious to it's time of release.) 5. Vice City Stories (It captures some of the feel of the good Vice City, with a lot of replayability value due to it's great gameplay) 6. Liberty City Stories (Decent storyline, but was nowhere near as good as III, a little disappointing for not including helicopters) 7. London 1969 (It had such a classy feel to it, and I'd like to visit London someday) 8. London 1961 (Same as above) 9. Advance (Terrible game, the GameBoyAdvance had much more capacity than that.) 10. San Andreas (Such a pointless and immature storyline, the bichest of protagonists that only whines about his incapabilities, the game just don't do it justice.) Th3MaN1
1 - III (The very first 3D GTA, which made the franchise popular, also best story, missions and gameplay in my opinion) 2 - Vice City (Incredibly fantastic soundtrack + very similar to Scarface) 3 - San Andreas(Very big map, a lot of side missions, a long of gameplay) 4 - I/II(It started the "beast") 4 - IV + Episodes from LC(Missions are good but boring and little creativity put in, but realistic to a length where the game is still enjoyable) 5 - LCS/VCS(A mix between VICE/III and San Andreas make these portables pack a punch) 6 - Advance(Not the best, but still enjoyable from time to time) Haven't really played the rest. Pyrrhic
5.VC(hard to finish mission "the driver") Ranking a game lower because you yourself can't pass a mission? wut? I don't think that was the main reason he put the game that low, he was merely pointing out that it is a less favourable game due to it. I can sort of agree, a game gets less boring if your stuck on a mission for ages, although I had no problem with The Driver.

Senex Iunior
Also, [email protected] LCS above anything. What wrong with LCS? I found the game enjoyable, 2nd favourite GTA. Boring and unrelatable characters (I liked Toshiko and Salvatore- and that was it), recycling of the worst 3D map, rehashed and at times incoherent plotline, terrible recycling of the SA engine (still no swimming in Liberty?), worst radio stations by far (Radio Del Mundo: wat is this i dont even...), faceless protagonist, the "major" antagonist that didn't appear until the penultimate mission, generally uninteresting missions (notable exception being the Portland Chainsaw Masquerade)- and that's the short list. The only things that even slightly redeem it are the facts that it was so cheap and that it still has very basic elements of your typical Rockstar sandbox game, but otherwise it completely failed. A rare miss, but a miss nonetheless.
