In game Gran turismo is miles better than Forza 4 but that just proves it even more. These graphics are not nex gen. I can't believe people think that when the screenshots don't look that good graphics wise. That's not what gta is about, never has been

The reason why I didn't post a GT pic is because I wanted to point out games on both consoles that hold the flag up graphics-wise.

For those who haven't played the game here's a pic from GT of my Mclaren F1 (custom track,Toscana)

More graphics comparisons? confused.gif

There is barely a comparison to be made - you cannot compare the graphics in a game like GTA with the graphics of - for instance - a racing game. An open-world sandbox game like GTA has, computationally, much more things to do other than drawing pretty graphics. It needs to handle AI for tens of pedestrians and vehicles, and it needs to be able to cope when everything goes to hell and there are explosions and gun-fire left, right, and centre. It needs to handle a much larger, and much more detailed map which can load dynamically. The list goes on. You can't realistically expect GTA to compete graphically with the prettiest games out there because under the hood it is much more complex than those games. You can't have it all.

And, for what it's worth, I think V looks amazing anyway.

This. Not to mention that the game isn't finished yet (?) and GTA screenshots always look a little blurred and less detailed compared to the real game. I think the graphics look top notch anyway.

When people start criticising graphics and images, it is a clear indication that they are pissed off cause of the wait and are frustrated.

I'm annoyed cause of the wait too, but that doesn't mean we should be bagging them all the time. Quality takes time!

Over the moon when I saw the comment on newswire that said "more to come this week".

Huh?What?Where?Who? orly.gif I must have missed it whatsthat.gif

Ohhh....you mean my post?

I don't understand why people think the graphics are so "astonishing" and "next gen".

Forza 4?

*Snip*

Uncharted 3 ?

*Snip*

Both of these games are current gen and they are truly breathtaking.

The whole point of my post was to smack those who said the graphics are "next gen because the screenshots look too good" with proof of the current gen's capabilities (of which GTA V is part of). dozingoff.gif

To all the people who say the graphics look somewhat clunky: GTA graphics have never really been up-to-date. But that's pretty normal for a sandbox game. So no need to complain, really.

Gameplay > Graphics.

I really don't see the big fuss...they graphics are amazing for a game like GTA running on ~6 year old hardware.

There's no need because for a sandbox game it looks "amazing",to quote Barguast.Still, saying they're "next gen" is taking it to far.

I can´t agree more,GTA is not about the graphics, never was and never will be.

GTA is about freedom, about fun, about discover new things, about build a lively and massive world, full of things to do (activities,minigames..whatever you want).

Dan Houser;“The key idea of the game was about freedom”.This is GTA

Anyways, the screenshots looks great for me.I play San Andreas yet,and graphics are really bad compared with today´s standar.

I think the graphics are a tad bit better. I like how the game is much more vibrant than IV, it was just too dreary.

even if the graphics will be like from san andreas... i will play the game wink.gif

This is a great attitude to have, man.

A lot of people are expecting far too much from this game and have forgotten what GTA truly is at it's core. It's an experience. For some, it's tearing apart the countryside in your favourite vehicle and that feeling you get when you manage to perfectly drift around a dust-spouting corner. For others it's admiring this beautiful city that has been painstakingly created by people who just want you to have the best. It's a new world for you to escape from the real world. Clearly, the graphics are impressive but that reflects nothing of the gameplay, the factor which many of us should value far higher.

Personally, I think the new screens look stunning and I have no doubt that the next batch will be just as visually pleasing.

Nonsense, GTA IV was pretty cutting edge graphics for a sandbox game, came out 4 years ago, cars and water look amazing for console graphics. Also look at Just Cause 2's environment for graphics.

This...

but to be honest I think V is one of the prettiest games coming out. I'm not impressed anymore when a game pushes more polys and pixels or has Image Based Lighting on the cars.. that's just advances in technology. What makes a game pretty to me is originality, design, scope, small touches that tell you someone has put some extra love into their work. Sure, it's somewhat limited in detail, but uses it to maximum effect.

A screenshot is the worst possible way to look at GTA V. The real beauty is in seeing it all move together, or in taking a drive from downtown to the countryside and watch the scenery change in an utterly believable way and then being able to steal a cropduster, fly back and crash land it in the middle of town, walk away without a scratch and have a hamburger.

And really in boring terms of pixels and polys.. what we've seen so far, looks pretty damn amazing anyway. This'll be the prettiest sandbox at least until the next generation arrives.

Original Light

I'd say tomarrow or Friday. Since those days are the end of the week.

Once they release the next screens, they may say "New trailer coming next week", just like they said "More coming later this week". Just my guess.

I say we made out pretty well this summer guys, we got 5 new screenshots, and 3 more coming up, making a total of 8. We are also more certain that it may release in October. smile.gif

Hey everyone, great to see still so much excitement about these screens.

Polite reminder: we will not tolerate spamming, arguing and other off-topic nonsense in this or any other thread, so please keep it civil and we look forward to bringing you more screens this week.
