My copy of FO3 has broken, gives me the excuse to get the edition with all DLC, considering I only played Broken Steel, The Pitt and Point Lookout, which all were pretty amazing. I'm currently at Big MT. in New Vegas, and it's surprisingly funny.

I love Old World Blues, by far one of my favourite DLC's for F:NV. The second being Honest Hearts, Zion valley was an awesome place to explore in the DLC.

I liked HH DM and LR - only NV DLC I've played

(God Lord, the acronyms!)

First time through I hated HH. Second and third, however, enjoyed it so much more.

LR is the well needed full circle of the couriers story

And DM's felt like an episode of Doctor Who.

Homemade Dynamite

I was thinking about the mods they're implementing on console. Howard said that, apart from nudity and sex mods, he will try to make it as unrestricted as possible. Seeing as how downloading PC mods for console is now being made a possibility, what could this mean for other games in the future? Do think we'll see other console games supporting mod use after this?

I think we will, if it's successful. But that would mean a change for the modding scene, I think. Honestly, it depends on the devs and publishers. There's a couple of things to consider outside of that, though. For instance... (prepare for rambling):

Paid mods would probably be more prevalent, which could mean a number of things. Developers could half-ass a game and rely on mods to bring the experience up to par. So you'd be buying a sh*tty game but you'd be able to get mods that make it better. However, the opposite could be true. Instead of focusing on what they're going to do with DLC, they could focus on making the base game great and making quality DLC later. Paid mods could bring them in enough profits that they wouldn't need to try to screw us over with shady tactics (though I bet some would still try).

But who knows for sure? I'd like to see some more speculation on this, as I believe console mods could change A LOT in the gaming industry if they're successful, for better or for worse.

So mods for consoles could either be the best thing for gaming or the worst?

Devs will NEVER stop DLC. Even if they get revenue from more they'll stl whore out dlc

I'm sceptical because as stated, they could half-ass a game.

Be interesting to see however

Bad DLC hurts DLC sales not community mods.

Clothing packs, weapon skins, etc would probably be effected to a certain degree, but real expansions won't be hurt.

I also don't see half assed games coming out just because mods could fix them, at least not from devs that aren't already putting out half assed games.

The fallout shelter game has lost its novelty with me. Loaded it up earlier to find that while I had been at work, Radroaches had attacked (for no reason) and killed half my dwellers. That's pretty lame.

Basically it appears that, if you don't pay this game constant attention - 24/7, people die. Poor show

In all fairness, as far as DLC goes Bethesda have got it pretty much right with the Fallout series so far.

yeah none of the DLC for Fallout games is cheap or forgettable.

it might get a little weird, ala Mothership Zeta, but every Fallout DLC has given the player large new areas to explore and lots of new items to find.

if they've got anything going for them, it's that Bethesda does DLC better than most games.

The closest thing to cheap was GRA, but I feel like that was geared more towards console players, and it did add a lot of cool things.

To me GRA was a really good way to get bottle caps. Gibson was bugged when she gets around 30k+ bottle caps.

To be honest, I've expressed my opinion about my least favorite Fallout DLC of all time, Dead Money. But that does not mean I hate the DLC. It had a superb atmosphere, and my experience was only hindered by the game mechanics I considered pretty annoying at times.

As far as DLC's for Fallout 3 and New Vegas go in general, they've got it right. Completely new worlds with great views, a lot of story that I really liked (and was also connected), and generally enhancing the lore that I don't know much about, but going to the Divide was really awesome.

If Fallout 4 has anything similar, then I'm sold.

I loved Dead Money, just because of how truly different it felt from the base game, and it gave us the BAR.

Also it's the only time Hardcore Mode actually felt intense.

Cutter De Blanc

First time through Dead Money was a slog-fest, didn't feel the reward was worth the journey. Second time through I did it from memory without a walkthrough, and it was a much more enjoyable experience. The journey was it's own reward. The atmosphere there was unparalleled, and I only wished I could go back after I was done.

I enjoyed Dead Money, but it was my least favourite one. Too damn slow.

Now Honest Hearts, loved that DLC. That Joshua Graham character is just a complete badass. Would like to see more DLC set around the Zion Valley area, and the legend of the burned man.

Yeah, Bethesda does DLC the right way. As in, the way it was intended. DLC was meant to extend the life of a game, not to scam players in the name of making a quick buck.

There is definitely a reason why they refer to the their "DLC" pretty much exclusively as Add-ons because that is exactly what it is. Additional content that takes you to new locations with completely different stories from the main game. You never feel like they cut something out of the main game (Besides maybe.. Broken Steel.) :p

Broken Steel wasn't cut from FO3...

Anyways, when it comes to DLC, I just want something new. Not something that is a reskin of something, but something that wasn't possible without the base game. Case in point, there are 3 weapon types I want to see in FO4 but probably won't be in it. Throwing weapons ala spears and knives, crossbows and bows, and duel wielding.(ok not a weapon type, but meh). If they add them afterwards as just those weapons cause they couldn't complete for vanilla or they figured out a way to do it at a later date, I would buy them. Of course nothing is stopping them from adding them to a DLC or for free, but that is entirely up to them.

Obviously I wasn't saying that it was cut. Just that the regular game had a hard ending and not the return to free roam/side quest wrap up mode that most RPG's and Open world games have. Which should have been built into the main game in my opinion.

True, but it could just as well have been part of the developer's vision. Maybe he had the idea to make it a hard ending to "force" players to go through multiple playthroughs, exploring and experiencing the capital wasteland differently every time. Obviously, it turns out players do prefer to explore as much as they can with their beloved character.

Isn't the ending on New Vegas also a hard ending?

Yep, and I hate it. They gave the excuse that the changes would be too much if they allowed us to continue playing...

At least we have mods to fix that.

I don't imagine there will be a hard ending to Fallout 4. It would be pretty stupid to be able to build a bunch of settlements only to have the game tell you that you can't manage them anymore because you finished the story.

Also, speaking of settlements, wasn't there a mod kind of like this for New Vegas? I remember seeing it on Nexus

Here it is

Maybe they got the idea from this?

I hope this only applies to the consoles and not the PC version. I don't want to be forced to play at 30 fps if I know I can play it at 60.

Of course it wont apply to the PC version, why would Bethesda gimp the platform that's been keeping their games alive?

I think they took inspiration from both RTS and Wasteland Defense. The latter especially, read the list of features and you'll notice it's pretty much identical to the Fallout 4 features they exhibited at E3. Obsidian took a lot of influence from Fallout 3 mods when developing New Vegas, so Bethesda doing the same isn't a huge surprise.

The frame cap won't apply to PC. They'll incorporate Vertical Sync like every other game in existence.

I don't know why people have started panicking about vendors capping frames on PC all of a sudden. We've had years of games with hard-capped frames on console and no frame limiter on PC.
