Polygon's interview with Pete Hines:

Don't know that too many will be interested due to the length, but I will leave the link here. Some of it you have to wade through to get to the parts about FO4. Was interesting to see him shrug when asked if we will come across older characters in FO4. Probably doesn't mean anything, but meh.

I know it was probably asked pages ago, but I am not about going to go through 50 pages to see if this was already said. Anyway, first time posting in the gaming section. Did anyone else pre-order Fallout 4: Pipboy Edition? I know I did. Though my ass was looking all over the place for it. Amazon sold out, GameStop sold out, and now Best Buy is out. So as far as I am concerned, all major U.S. Retailers are out of copies. I was lucky to find that Bethesda's own online store still had copies. I was surprised as all hell that they ran out of copies that fast. I bet they have less than 50,000 copies worldwide.

I was thinking about the mods they're implementing on console. Howard said that, apart from nudity and sex mods, he will try to make it as unrestricted as possible. Seeing as how downloading PC mods for console is now being made a possibility, what could this mean for other games in the future? Do think we'll see other console games supporting mod use after this?

I think we will, if it's successful. But that would mean a change for the modding scene, I think. Honestly, it depends on the devs and publishers. There's a couple of things to consider outside of that, though. For instance... (prepare for rambling):

Paid mods would probably be more prevalent, which could mean a number of things. Developers could half-ass a game and rely on mods to bring the experience up to par. So you'd be buying a sh*tty game but you'd be able to get mods that make it better. However, the opposite could be true. Instead of focusing on what they're going to do with DLC, they could focus on making the base game great and making quality DLC later. Paid mods could bring them in enough profits that they wouldn't need to try to screw us over with shady tactics (though I bet some would still try).

But who knows for sure? I'd like to see some more speculation on this, as I believe console mods could change A LOT in the gaming industry if they're successful, for better or for worse.

So I tried rushing a room at 31% risk. Radroach infestation followed killing all of my dwellers(most were armed). I now have left one that have been sent out in a last resort, two pregnant women (who are f*cking useless) and 2 children

I have no power and no water and no food/

Sounds like the backstory to a vault in the full games, doesn't it?

So it's been confirmed, there is no MP. And I love this tweet that confirms it.

Me and a friend used to sit in Xbox live parties while we played NV. Was pretty hilarious describing the silly sh*t we'd do and see.

Closest thing I think we'll get to co-op until they finally do the MMO.

I'd rather keep their Fallout games strictly singleplayer until they release an online game only, don't f*ck up a great game because you want to implement online play. Not saying it will ruin the game, but I'd rather them not take the chance and use all resources in making a great singleplayer experience.

I could see some co-op mod making it's way into the franchise, but that's the limit for me. Fallout is just not a game i'd like to see take on the multiplayer genre. While it may look good in paper and even be executed well, I'd prefer if Bethesda would keep it single-player.

I would hate to see multiplayer in Fallout. I really hope they don't join the bandwagon and try to implement any form of multi. Well, co-op is okay.

I was saddened to see R* go the way of GTA: O instead of putting more focus on the SP. I just don't want to see the same happen to FO.

As for Fallout Shelter: my vault (669) is doing pretty well. Have about 38 dwellers and quite a few levels. At the beginning, I expanded a bit too quickly and that caused issues with resources. Now I go slow and as soon as I get the inkling my vault cannot keep up, I build more resource rooms. Merging really helps but the rooms have to be the same level to merge. I think you can only merge three of the same rooms together, too.

I have one dweller that I send out on into the wasteland on a regular basis. She usually comes back with a lot of armour/weapons. A good tactic is to have every dweller on your first level armed because it's annoying when raiders attack and you have to keep pointing your defenders into the right room.

Radroaches are damn annoying, though. If I didn't have so many armed dwellers, I'd probably have been taken out by some long ago. Thus far, I've not lost a single dweller since starting the game. The wasteland dweller has died twice while outside the vault, but I've revived her each time.

I am sure my luck will soon run out.

I've been impressed with the consoles version of Elder Scrolls Online. I was thinking it was going to be more tedious and chaotic than Skyrin, but it hasn't been either. I wouldn't mind a Fallout Online, but keep it seperate from your single player games. Don't take away whats built this franchise, just to do online gaming.

I do give ESO credit for the ability to go do things on your own, without other players. I haven't been forced into teaming up with folks, not yet at least.

I never said it would be bad. To quote myself, I'd prefer, not hate or dislike. But I'm happier knowing that currently they are concentrating on singleplayer only.

I never implied you said it'd be bad, or anything, I'm just letting you know (if you haven't played it for yourself) that ESO is a good sign for a Fallout Online type of MMO thing. I share your relief in Beth purely focusing on single player with FO4, but my confidence in ESO, in the time I've invested in it, should be a good sign for things to come if FO:O was ever to be a thing.

Oh I never implied you saying that I'm saying it's bad, I just shared more of my opinion. But i have not played ESO, so yeah, maybe I should try it out before saying anything.

Fact of the matter - if they don't f*ck it up, and it doesn't hurt the singleplayer, it's good for me.

I've always had my eye on ESO but I could never quite justify getting it. Even with the subscription fee now dropped. I was a part of the beta, and I did enjoy it. It's simply that every time I try MMO's, it ends up being a waste because I quit. It's good to hear that you can go it alone in ESO, though. Part of the reason it's difficult for me to stay with MMO's is the that it is hard to go it alone and in some instances not possible. I don't always have a group to play with.

I would be okay with a similar thing for FO if it were a separate game like ESO. But the thing is, I'd rather they spend that time actually making another SP game.

Don't f*ck with Radroaches yo. They some Triple OG's.

I agree. Gta v suffered so much due to MP. And yoga. And the ocean floor. The story is too short and has no depth. I'm glad FO isn't ding the same

Not that it'd be bad per se, but the SP needs 100% focus.

The only I'm concerned of is the system requirements. As long as I can run it on low with 30FPS, I'm f*cking made.

I reckon it'll be fine on PC. Might conform to the usual Bethesda stereotype of running fantastically on PC and running sh*te on console, but let's hope not for all the console gamers' sakes.

AFAIK, Skyrim wasn't nearly as buggy as Fallout 3 was on consoles, so maybe it'll actually be playable on launch?

Let's hope that's about the only thing they took from Skyrim...though rolling in FO4 wouldn't be unwelcome.

I hope this only applies to the consoles and not the PC version. I don't want to be forced to play at 30 fps if I know I can play it at 60.

I'm the same way, I've never been into MMO's, but ESO has me reeled in. Not even a week of owning it and I'm level 13. That's with essentially doing all quest by myself with the occasional folk doing the same quest. I can imagine there will be some quest that'll be close to impossible to pass without help, but I'll cross that bridge once it comes.

Regardless, I'm glad this less than half a year away... It's almost surreal. I've been playing New Vegas a bit, hopefully I beat it sometime soon.

Yeah, I might look into ESO. I did enjoy the beta, but I was very against the game back then because of the sub fee on top of the actual price of the game.

I've been replaying New Vegas, too. I forgot how good it was. I started FO3 a few days ago but I'm basically just a quest or two into the game after leaving the vault. NV has me sucked in right now. I love the Strip and the level of freedom you have.

EDIT: grammar.
