Fallout 4

The poor faction choices are why I'm still on the same character that I made on the day of release and I've only just recently completed Dangerous Minds. Any time I think about progressing in the main quest, I think about the fact that I'm going to have to pick a faction to reign supreme over the Commonwealth, and I don't want to pick any of them. The Brotherhood is definitely the most developed, but I don't agree with nor support their ideals. The Institute is a tough sell for me, because I would want to change their MO to be less about synths and more about beneficial technology and resource creation for the Commonwealth, but honestly even if the game gave me that option it wouldn't feel genuine since I'm sure they wouldn't actually change and the game would just be like "oh yeah, they'll totally change in the future, don't worry!" The flaws with the Minutemen are obvious. The Railroad is my favorite faction of the four, both in terms of ideals and enjoyment of in-game interaction, but they don't feel like an endgame faction at all; their concern is solely focused on helping synths, not the Commonwealth as a whole. They're more like the Boomers or the Khans in New Vegas, a faction that you can ally with at the end rather than the faction that takes control.

I'll almost definitely go for the Railroad or Minutemen, but it's a tough choice, and not in a good way like NV. Ending choices in NV were tough because between the NCR, House and independent endings, they all had pros and cons, but all three are arguably good choices for the Mojave. 4 is a hard choice because all of the options feel like sh*t and I'm having to decide which is the least sh*t. Maybe I'll go with the Railroad and try to convince myself it's Fallout 4's version of NV's independent ending, which was my favorite.

I finished the game on my first character a long, long time ago, just to get the main achievements for the ending.

Then once survival mode was out, made a character then and stuck with it. Level 100 now, finished all the Nuka World/Far Harbor/Automatron quests, and am just going around building up settlements and doing some sidequests. That SimSettlements mod is really addicting to me. Planning on making some videos showcasing the settlements I built.

But yeah, when it comes to choosing a faction... I'm considering just going with the raiders and f*ck everything else. Got my 8 raider settlements going on in the commonwealth. Now searching for a mod that allows them to share the workbench contents with the regular settlements so that I don't have to worry about food making people unhappy. Many cool settlements built too.

Wish there was a game that was just about the building and populating of the settlements, in first person. Would be uber cool!

Actually Raiders are bitchier than any regular Settlers.

Regular Settlers would work on the farm for food and it makes them happy.

Raiders don't like working in the farm for food. Bunch of f*ckwits. I don't care though. I'm not gonna carry food and spread them around the Raider settlements just to make them happy.

And btw I would end the game with Institute if it unlocks a new set of clean settlement assets. The problem was they wouldn't. No clean shower pod, no go. :p

Yeah, that's mainly what's stopping me from going all raider; the fact that they bitch about having to work for their food. At least they work with the SimSettlements plots, so I'm trying to see if balance can be achieved in having one or two of them producing food for the entire settlement, with the rest working on things to raise happiness and offset the farmers' unhappiness.

I usually assign two of them at the farm. The rest are assigned at shops, watchtowers, and the raider chem stand.

Only Finch Farm as the Raider Supplier. Got many Settlers there to begin with though, so I don't know if they produce more happiness for the Raiders.

Every Happiness stats from 4 Raider spots I have are stagnant at 40-45 until now. The worst Raider settlement I have is at the Nuka World's Red Rocket. Lots of plants, nobody work on it. LOL.

I only started my first nodded game last night on XB1 & everything is working well, except for...Scrap Everything

In sanctuary it let's me get rid of rubble, vines, bushes etc. Except it only works as far as the carport of the workbench house, beyond that point it won't get rid of anything. So from the bridge up to the workbench house, works great, but not at all further up from there & also it won't get rid of any of the mess on the wanderers old house.

Anyone else have that problem? Any suggestions on a fix? Or suggestions for any scrapper mods that are better?

Apart from that, Snap n Build looks great, just played around with it a little fixing up the settlers house, gonna build my characters place later on. I also found a mod called simple scrap...that just focuses on removing skeletons, corpses, molerat holes, and bollards at starlight.

And finally for now, a new radio station called 'American Dream: seasons' it has 4 set of lore/period correct songs which play depending on the time of year it is, so you get some in built change and freshness. Includes the likes of Sinatra, dean martin, bobby darin, Richie valens, buddy holly.

Update:

Now I'm really confused, the problem has shifted. Now I CAN clear bushes, leaves, flat trash from the wanderers old home and the area up past the workbench house, exactly the area where the mod didn't work before

But....it won't work in the area around the bridge, an area where it did work just a couple of days ago

A side issue about the Syringer rifle. I went down to the blood clinic to get it & it wasn't there. I did some searching but couldn't find any mention of other people saying it had gone missing from that location.

Anyone had that problem with the syringer or other weapons that are supposed to be tied to a location?

Wasted a chunk of time last night searching for a distress beacon that appeared in sanctuary. After a while I checked the workbench to see if one was in there and activated, nope. Then I had another idea, the signal maxxed out on the spot I scrap stuff. Did a search and my suspicion was right, its a bug. If you scrap a distress pulser the signal can be left behind.

After missing a couple of settlement attacks and having them cost me a couple of people in each location & 20-30% happiness, I found out some nice person has made a mod to fix the problem. It puts a standard notification in the middle if the screen about the attack & it stays up until you click OK, so there's no chance of missing future attacks, just hope its also on Xbox.

Update:

that better settlement alerts mod isn't available for the standalone game anymore, you need to have ALL the dlc.

I don't want all the dlc, I learned years ago that while I love the fallout games, the dlc's for them tend to be crap. I tried a bunch of different search's and couldn't find a single other mod that fixed the crappy 'blink and you'll miss it' attack alerts.

I'm still wondering whether special NPC including companions can have dismemberment. I'm talking about in the original version, not with mods.

I know X6 and Danse can have dismemberment. Father's model can have dismemberment as well.

I tried wreaking havoc in Railroad HQ a few times, I found Deacon and Desdemona never had one, while other Railroad staff NPC had some.

Whoa man, triple post.

Yeah I know, over a few days though & I thought I should update info like problems with mods, the fact that attack alert is only available if you have all dlc etc, just in case people were looking for mods along those lines.

I don't know what to say, but it's ridiculous and I somehow lose respect with the song, despite of how nice it is.

Just remove the song from the trailer and even better, from the game, and pay the singer.

Had the terms of the licensing agreement been adhered to, the lawsuit contends, DiMucci could have used his right to refuse consent to persuade ZeniMax “to change the scripts so that, for instance, they instead told the story of a post-apocalyptic struggle for survival without craven violence.

Yeah, this one song from this one artist is somehow so important to the game that said artist somehow has enough say-so or clout to influence a publisher to demand their developer to completely rewrite a longstanding gaming franchise.

This is just a cash-grab from a no-longer relevant singer. The game is almost 2 years old at this point, and the song was in just about every pre-release trailer/snippet/commerical for the game and he JUST now noticed that his material was being used somewhat without his consent. Not saying he doesn't have a case, but that's only if Zenimax didn't try to separately negotiate/bargain with Dion himself.

It'll either go nowhere or they'll settle it by paying the guy an X amount of money. Either way, I think it's ridiculous. He should have sued them when the game was still new not wait almost two years to do it. As someone already said, this is more of a cash grab than anything.

"Alternately, he could have priced into his fee adequate compensation to safeguard himself against the potential loss of goodwill from being associated with the immoral images in Defendants script"

Translation: he seen how successful fallout 4 was and wishes he negotiated a higher fee.

"I'm morally opposed to this, so pay me"

Literally deleting this song off my phone now.

I'm going the opposite way. Whenever the song comes on, it will trigger my character to start committing mass murder and whatnot. Just to increase the immorality of it all.

Better yet, his excuse was that the game incited violence and the " killings and physical violence were not to protect innocent life, but instead were repugnant and morally indefensible images designed to appeal to young consumers". Well, anyone that makes the smallest investigation about the game knows it never took that approach to violence, neither such thing is portrayed on the trailer Dion's song appears (again, attacking Super Mutants which, if anyone makes the quickest investigation, will know in the game they attack on sight).

He claims [two years after the game release, it really took him quite some time to get to know the situation] that it might give him a negative association [even though #1 before FO4 release, nobody really knew the song or Dion as he was long forgotten; #2 take your time to listen to the lyrics of "The Wanderer", I don't think a song about a dude hitting on all the ladies he comes across can get much more negative association...], yet he doesn't really mind continuing to have said "negative association" with such a violent and imoral videogame as long as they pay him an higher fee.

Conclusion: he's broke and came up with a way to make an extra buck and get his name on the news once more since the 60s. Go home old man, you're drunk...

I knew of dion long before this game. Sounds like your assuming everyone that played this was the first time they heard it. I will agree that he is looking for a quick cash boost by saying the trailer is a negative impact on his song.

@Vaulttec: I'm not saying Dion was an absolute unknown, don't take my words as if I gave him no credit or respect (I do enjoy the song in question, too, I really like FO OST in general), I'm just saying he/his song wasn't as popular as it became due to the live-action trailer as it was... in a long time. That doesn't mean he became forgotten to everyone, that's obviously not the case.

Yeah. One thing that annoys me the most from this issue is that he's not okay with the context of a survivor defending themselves in a hostile post-apocalyptic world, while his song tells about a man who sleeps with different women all the time which may spread STD and even unwanted pregnancies.

So either he's looking to roll in some pocket money or he actually has a slanted moral.

I found this family of skeletons having a summer bbq. I think it's from the wild wasteland mod because I don't remember this being in vanilla.

The skeletons aren't vanilla. I wish a dumbed down version of the mod woud come to PS4, it looks like it would be compatible to add little things like that.

Skeletons like that sometimes just creeps me out and feel pity to them.

It feels like they were like "wahahaha, bombs gonna drop, we can't get in the Vault, so let's just BBQ for one last time" and then poof. Their bodies melt. Of course they won't be standing like that, but, well...
