Anyone else playing with custom music in the background?

Any other playlists you'd recommend? Any specific game soundtracks that would fit roaming the wasteland?

I play with the classic Fallout soundtrack in the background. It usually is a lot more atmospheric, and the default ambience doesn't even come close to the older games.

Gonna give it a go the next time I play. Thanks for the tip! Didn't think of the older games.

I found out, I like some of the calmer tracks from RDR and TLOU to play in the background. It's very atmospheric since my Boston isn't fairytale colorful and sunny anymore and the track just make me stop and gaze at the destoryed world. I'm going to play again tomorrow so I'll make sure to post some of these tracks here!

Skeever, it seems the quick saves work. I can go in and manual save but it just moves all my recent saves to the bottom of my save list.

Skeever, it seems the quick saves work. I can go in and manual save but it just moves all my recent saves to the bottom of my save list.

So your saves aren't being unintentionally deleted anymore, or is that still a problem? If it is, then you may just have to use the same method I used, except use a quicksave in place of a manual save.

For the sake of clarity, the step-by-step method would for that would be:

1). Load desired save

2). Create quicksave

3). Either delete all trace of manual saves, or move them to a separate storage device

4). Create several new manual saves (this is to verify that the manual save system is no longer bugged)

If the deletion problem went away, however, then saves being located on the very bottom of your list sounds like an issue with the time and date of your console resetting to the default settings (e.g. January 1st, 2005 instead of June 1st, 2017), in which case it's understandable why a Fallout 4 save supposedly made in 2005 would appear below all of your other saves. That tends to happen when you turn on a console that's been disconnected from the Internet.

Went on a modding spree yesterday, and stumbled upon Sim Settlements.

You guys ever heard of it? All you settlement building people should look at it. It implements plots that you place on your settlements that the settlers will use to build their own homes/farming spots/factories/stores.

Very dynamic, so you end up with a lot of variety. Takes some of the micromanaging off your hands.

Really good stuff!

Yeah, I've been using Similar Settlements with various packs of buildings for a whole now. Much better than just building normally.

Now the season pass has been cut on PSN, can someone tell me whether it's worth it or not? I keep seeing mixed reviews and I don't know whether to pull the trigger or not.

3/6 DLC are really worth it. The other half are settlement DLCs, so it's up to you.

Settlement DLCs:

Wasteland workshop is kinda broken. Contraption has armor and weapon racks but the rest is lame unless you can come up with something advanced in settlement mode. Vault Tec DLC is the best of the three. You gain an incredibly large settlement space and can build your dream vault. Also has a few quests.

Story DLC:

Far Harbor is the best part of Fallout 4. Hands down.

Nuka World is really awesome as well.

Automatron's quests can be a littlw frustrating but building your own robots became an essential part.

I'd say it's worth it. Even if you're not the settlement kind of guy, it gives you a bunch of new toys to play around with. The story DLCs are a must have.

To each of their own. Therefore don't read reviews.

Watch Youtube gameplay to preview them for yourself. Input Far Harbor, Nuka World for Story DLC. Automatron, Vault Tec Workshop for Short Story DLC. Contraption, Wasteland Workshop for Workshop-focused DLC.

In short:

- Far Harbor, Nuka World: gives new landmasses, interiors, and workshop assets

- Automatron, Vault Tec WOrkshop: modify existing areas and add new interiors, new settlement zone, and new workshop assets

- Contraption, Wasteland Workshop: new workshop assets. Not exactly new; some of them have been used in the game.

I've seen this really cool mod that allows Nora not to die and become a companion. This allows full dialog and the necessary story changes. I'm really excited to try it out, for some time I wanted to replay the game with some mods and so far this one's the only one that really made me curious about. Nexus Mods

I'll just need to get my PC cleaned and the thermal paste replaced. 2 years of dust in a lappy, temps are still on the 70s but 5ºC about the regular max temps. Better safe than sorry, though.

Strange place to ask, but are there any modders here? Particularly anyone that has experience scripting with Papyrus?

I'm trying to update and recompile the source code of a mod through the CK and also possibly make it compatible with another mod I've got.

Does it work the other way round?

Shame I'll never play it!

I decided to go ahead and upload my personal sound replacer for Deadpool's Assault Carbine, which uses sounds that Magmacow on GB made for a G36C set. I thought they were a perfect fit for an AR15, and they helped me learn how to make looping sound files (which actually turned out to be a very simple process).

Here's the Nexus link for anyone interested in them.

I miss the ww1 style ncr armor

You referring to the Ranger one on the cover, right? probably the coolest piece in recent Fallout games.

I agree. Fallout 4's FH marine armor is among my favorites as well. Power Armor in generally looks badass too, but I don't like using it a lot. I barely used to wear it until F4.

What are some good PS4 mods? I know that because of Sony's NO EXTERNAL ASSETS stance, there won't be very fun mods to play with on the PS4. Are there PS4 mods that basically act like the console commands that you see on the pc version? What about the "Better Darkness" mod (or whatever it's called) that makes night time darker. Is that mod available for the PS4?

I can recommend many of a PS4 mod try better darkness. All of the UCO mods from AndrewCX. If you enjoy quest mods the Kelly house is a awesome mod. There are tons what do you want in a mod?

Check out the weather effect mods and combine them, playing which one to put first in the LO. Some results are awesome if they don't overwrite each other.

Be careful with new enemy spawns: Install too many and your game turns into a massive crashfest.

For crafting mods, save every single f*cking time before approaching a workbench. No matter if chemistry, PE or settlement mode, depending on the mods. I almost ripped my hair out after 1 hour of survival progress, trying to purify some water only to crash my game. Survival and PS4 don't go hand in hand because you crash more often than you can die. Make sure to install a survival save mod otherwise there's no point.

Minutemen are the worst written main faction in the entire Fallout universe. Most of the side factions are better than them, if not all of them. They're random, they're stupid and they're basically two people, you and Preston.

Of the four main factions, The Minutemen are easily the most lacking in terms of development; Their storyline is essentially made up of radiant side quests, the chain of command is pretty much non-existent (you're immediately promoted to General and get bossed around by everyone else), you get stuck with over a dozen settlements that you couldn't care less about, their gear is some of the worst in the game, etc..

If you decide you like them best, then I'd definitely get an overhaul mod for them. Personally, I just steer clear of Concord every time I make a new save. Most characters assume The Minutemen have been wiped out if you do, which is fine by me.

As for the Brotherhood of Steel, I feel they're the best of the four. The storyline seems the most developed, you're given a lot of choice throughout said storyline, the characters are interesting, their gear is some of the best in the game, etc.. Easily the funnest faction to join, especially when you install mods like FCOM (which allows you to lead squads, call in Vertibird air support, etc.).

Ohhh thanks for namedropping that mod! Didn't know it was a thing! Installing it as soon as I get home!

Still, it's a contradiction if you want to have Valentine, Hancock or the supermutant follow you around while being pro-brotherhood. Brotherhood doesn't seem to react on it when normally they shoot on sight. The three companions maybe give yoh a dislike here or there but that's it. Fallout 4 is missing a lot of these details and the main factions are all incomplete. Every faction has it's own plotholes. The Brotherhood is the most well done of them all.

Even with PS4 mods, I can't bring myself to do another full playthrough.

That's because there really is no faction system, or at least not compared to New Vegas, where your faction choices actually mattered.

Destroy Institute, start a war with both Railroad and BOS, join Raiders and get hated by Minutemen, kill the Raiders faction.
