Waiting for the update to download... don't suppose anyone else is making a character for the sole purpose of Survival mode?

I am, actually. For survival mode, Automatron and Far Harbor. Which means that I'm probably going to spend my first week of holiday in the Commonwealth :p

I haven't thought about what kind of build I'll be using but I'm probably going to be a major c*nt and just kill anyone for loot which should be fun since my last character was a really good guy.

More about the mod Skyship Welder by Blary , I thought that the Skyship bunker base was built in the same spot as Recon bunker Theta, but it's more to the north-west on the map with no river around it like Recon bunker Theta has!..

I put together a side by side pipboy map image merged into one to show you, so the BoS quest The Lost Patrol was not compromised by it's home base being in the same world space like I first thought, so it's safe to travel to the ship straight out of Vault 111

You'd better pick your fights... was just swarmed by three raiders at level 2, and one of them shot me once with a .38 pipe pistol and it took away half of my health! The damage is a nice change of pace, anyway, so I think you'll find the gunfights to be pretty fun.

I'm more happy about robot shopkeepers right now lol, gonna save survival for later. Maybe with a winter mod.

I really like how they were lazy enough to not embed the save menu while sleeping. So now I have to leave survival just to make an hard save.

Edit: on the bright side, I do like the massive reduce in AP points for running. It might actually make traveling around less of a nightmare for me.

Once switching to Survival, you cannot switch back to survival later if you decide to change the difficulty to something easier.

So once you pick survival, you're stuck there unless you reload a save to before switching to survival in the first place.

I find that pretty annoying because I want to have the experience of the new Survival mode, but be able to switch back to an easier difficulty for settlement development (mainly fast travel and quick saves while building).

Really hope there's a mod to remove that feature in the future :/

For now, I'm saving survival for another time then

Haven't tried yet, but Survival will branch our save data right?

So basically anything before Survival is still there and playable, while Survival data will act like a different autosave.

In that case, I can just focus and progress on normal and flick The Sims mode just to play crap and let the newer saves overwrite the older ones.

Anyone on PS4 have Far Harbor listed on the main menu Add-Ons? Because I got this and I feel trolled now

Sir Michael

^ I also have Far Harbor on my add-on list.

To answer your first question, yes. It "makes" another character in the menu with a (Survival) tag next to the name. I've been playing with it for a while, I kinda wish there were numbers like in New Vegas that tell me when I'm getting thirsty or hungry, but it's pretty nice for stealth to have a purpose now. Ammo is a lot lighter than I thought.

I'm still waiting until after Far Harbor to start a Survival Mode run. Don't want to get distracted by another save when it's out

Of course, this had to be my first death on Survival... stupid cars, I've given them a wide berth since then.

Bethesda wasn't joking when they said that finding a bed is like winning the lottery... after traveling from Red Rocket to Diamond City, dodging mines, ghouls and super mutants along the way, I couldn't even find a bed for rent there (didn't have enough money for Home Plate) so I had to travel around the map for a good 30 minutes until I stumbled across a town full of Yao Guai and ghouls, cleared it out after nearly an hour of taking pot shots at them and then finally claimed that stupid bedroll as my prize. I really am surprised at how much this game is changed just because of the new save system.

Okay so I finished the main quest and now I have no idea what to do. I spent like a legit 7 hours improving Sanctuary. I made it ridiculously cool (it's still at like 83 happiness smh).

What's some fun stuff to do once the main quest is done, apart from exploring?

Unless you still have side quests to do (not radiant quests... f*ck those), there's not much to do except building up settlements, killing random things, testing guns out, mostly small things. Best bet is to play another game until Far Harbor comes out, or load a save from a while back and finish with the other factions.

So, my brother had somehow lost Strong, who was carrying the Big Boy, Broadsider and a few other weapons....

Should my bro delete his level 56 save to get it all back?

I keep saying that's a bad idea, but idk...

Reload previous save data. That's how we roll.

You don't know how much hard-saves saved me from the mess.

Btw, just in case. Ask your brother to recheck Strong at the tower where he belong. Or at the settlement he was sent into. Or guess the path NPC would walk to his destination.

Just double check it before deciding roll back or even restart..

Well, some people can get hundrets or thousands hours out of a game like this with roleplaying, if that's something for you. You need to really dive into the game though and use a lot of imagination. It's not for everybody and most people won't understand why you would do that.

I for one never roleplay. :p

But I like rebuilding stuff. I also like going on journey for one or two hours.

Fallout is rewarding, I always come back with something new

Playing on survival brings a whole new usage to the BoS Vertibirds. Good lord those things become handy. Now I'm nearing lvl 50, got a nice network of settlements going, and the vertibirds make it so much easier to get around without fast travel. Takes a bit of the danger of it away, but still really nice. Now, if only they'd let you catch a vertibird directly from the Prydwen, instead of having to go all the way to the ground and toss a grenade, it would be perfect.

What if you toss the signal grenade on the Prydwen deck? lol

Does switching to Survival difficulty change difficulty for all my Character save files. Dumb question, but I want to know just in case I screw it up

From what I've been reading around and Sir Michael said above, it will branch your existing save. So you'll have GamingPro saves and GamingPro (Survival) saves. So that will only branch the save of the character you activate the survival mode on. Something like that.

I haven't experienced it myself. I hope other player can confirm this.

Though of doing that, but knowing the game, I'd wager it would glitch somehow or just spawn the vertibird on the airport anyway, forcing me to take another vertibird to go down to it. Lol.

Nah, it just makes a new character so to speak. The saves get separated and don't affect all characters. Here's a pic to confirm it:

The transparent Pip Boy screen is still a thing. WTF Bethesda...

So how hard is the new survival really ?

I'm gonna roll it for my third character whenever I get around to starting that.

I'm level 10 now.

And the whole "I can die any moment" feeling is almost gone, i feel i can finally fight back.

But before this, it was very difficult and the danger felt real.

VcAQwI9.jpg

I recommended finding a place to return every now and then.

I picked Taffington Boathouse as my private home with one settler to grow some food.

Also keep in mind, The game isn't getting any easier, you are just getting better.
