Oatmeal's badass Tesla Comic.

I've added this as a direct link in the original post.

Out of curiosity, did his wireless free energy work? Did the ever run tests, small scale and on the tower? Or even in theroy?

Just seems that if it worked, why in the last x amount of years has it not been futher researched?

But yeah, hats off to the visionaries.

Yes, google wireless electricity, they developed it some years ago, they are working on it.

I still don't know how much of this crap posted above I should believe.

Sounds like they're doing now what Edison was doing back then.

Without Nikola Tesla I would hate to think what Red Alert would use instead of Tesla coils.

Tesla was very eccentric and, in my opinion, the epitome of a mad scientist. He also became actually crazy later in his life. The man was cookey is ehat I'm trying to say lol but he was a damn genius. Edison was a hack who tried to discredit Tesla's ideas by using them in ways that would make people assume his discovery was dangerous (killing things/people).

Believe what you will, but Edison didn't even invent the light bulb.

adam broke it.

Tesla is on my toplist of Heroes, along with Benjamin Franklin.

Amazing that there is no Tesla museum where he did his most phenomenal work...

I've been to Edison's joint. Sad that the entire compound of the one who said “I have not failed - I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work” is preserved for posterity, while the Genius who created our modern power distribution method goes unrecognized. I say we buy Edison's "lab" and replace IT with a Tesla museum colgate.gif

*****

Edison:

“Genius is 1 percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration.”

Tesla:

“The future will show whether my foresight is as accurate now as it has proved heretofore.”

Hmmm... ironic, isn't it?

I am actually very pleasantly surprised that so many Americans respect Tesla more than Thomas Edison.

That looks about right.

He was, after all, an American...

...the papers, which thirty years ago conferred upon me the honor of American citizenship, are always kept in a safe, while my orders, diplomas, degrees, gold medals and other distinctions are packed away in old trunks.” - Nikola Tesla, “My Inventions V – The Magnifying Transmitter” (Electrical Experimenter, June, 1919)

(a great article by the way... clicky!)

Yeah, but Thomas was a dick. Tesla was a God amongst Men.

Serbian-American, you might want to add that before a thousand screaming Balkans come in this topic and tear the place apart.

We can just distract them by saying how one of the former Yugoslavian republics is better than the other.

Or just merely mention the nation of Macedonia, that seemed to set them off pretty good the other day. Like a red rag in front of a bull.

The waitress at a restaurant near me is Macedonian.

I'm glad this thing is getting the love it deserves, though I was surprised someone went for the 33k option.

The sad thing is, it would probably work on 80% of people from former Yugoslavia.

You have to love ethnic nationalism.

On-topic: I just saw from The Oatmeal's Facebook page that they've reached their target goal. In fact, they're just over $870,000.
