I've always held the opinion that the only 'realistic' things about GTAIV was the physics. For me, improving the physics, means a more realistic world for me to create unrealistic mayhem in devil.gif I'm not talking about totalling your car in one crash and getting injured, more realistic car handling, improved euphoria animations, npc being shot never felt like the bullets were connecting, they were just being pushed backwards and the transitions between the canned animation and euphoria being smoother.

The biggest thing they need to improve on though are the bikes. They're painfully sluggish and unresponsive in IV.

You're not supposed to go top speed in a corner. To me, they are awesome and I have no trouble winning MP races. Funniest of all is watching NRGs lose to my Zombie lol.gif

Ultra-realistic. I'm surprised more people didn't vote this option. Why wouldn't you want the physics as realistic as possible? The step up from San An to IV with ragdoll was incredible and so much fun. Why wouldn't you want this aspect advanced further? I don't understand people sometimes. confused.gif

For driving, I say go for ultrarealistic physics, that should add contrast between bad cars handling bad & good cars handling good too. unrealistic at IV level would be like MCLA, cause cars are way too easy to drive at such a high speed, but seriously even in MC it is almost impossible to not wreck, so actually that is even a bit realistic. I just realllllly admire the bike controls in MCLA. Im also with one other person that said between MCLA & IV physics. <--Sorry if that contradicts ultrarealistic, i think the physics can be realistic AND the player character can be a good driver, automatically pulling into drifts & stuff depending on your turning.

For crashes, not so realistic, cause all crashes would be fatal as fast as we drive.

For on foot, the player should have more balance & faster recovery when bumped by cars. Being able to ride on cars & in truck beds, in slow & possibly high speeds. For high speeds, not classic SA style, but like the one mission where Niko was climbing on top of that truck, & halo jacked it. Everything else was perfect, falling heights & the certain landings

BONUS EDIT Drunk physics: I want to still be able to function and maneuver on foot, stumbling & swaying camera but no constant falling, maybe it would depend on drunkeness level.

Keep it like it was back in GTA IV, but with some little improvements here and there, and boom: here you have another masterpiece.

Somewhere between GTAVC and GTAIV would suit me, but it's not my biggest concern.

Between VC and IV? So you mean you need San Andreas's physics too? Well then I must say NO!! because it would suck to see a modern game with all that.... dozingoff.gif

GTA IV was an inch from perfection, but some improvements were required. If they keep it as in TBoGT, i'm gonna be a happy man smile.gif

I think the physics are still the same in The Ballad. The only thing new were

Nitro: Cars with nitrous are only available in the triathlons and the online multiplayer races.

Military-grade Weapons: Including the M249, Assault SMG, Explosive Shotgun, and Sticky Bombs.

Parachutes: Base Jumping is introduced as fifteen destinations to jump from (off a building or helicopter) and to parachute safely to a location down below. After the player completes the base jumps, a parachute will spawn at his safehouse. Alternatively, the player can buy one from Armando Torres.

Access to Clubs: Access to Bahama Mamas, Hercules and Maisonette 9.

Mini-Games: Dancing, Drinking and Club Management.

Parma Violet-style Pink/Purple HUD: - Similar to the beta HUD of GTA IV.

Underground Fight Club: The L.C. Cage Fighters is an underground fight club located in Northwood. Luis can go there to make some extra cash. As the levels progress the opponents will start to use Knives and Baseball Bats. After the player wins the championship, he/she will achieve the Bear Fight achievement.

Ability to Replay Missions and Mission Scoring: Mission scoring is similar to Manhunt, with certain objectives that need to be filled.

Golfing: the player will be able to play golf within Golden Pier Swingers Golf Club in Algonquin.

50 Seagulls: 50 more seagulls, just the same as the ones in The Lost and Damned, albeit in different locations.

When a car is on fire, the amount of time it takes to explode is increased by roughly 45 seconds, giving the player more time to exit the burning vehicle.

dozingoff.gif When I say between VC and IV I don't mean chronologically...

I don't want driving to feel as stupid as it was before IV, but I don't want cars to feel quite as heavy and sluggish as they were in IV.

IV had a quite realistic feel to it, but I wouldn't mind lifelike physics (for driving, traffic, crashes, ragdoll, demolition and buildings, asphalt and object realism).

I would enjoy driving if it had realistic details, like body roll, oversteer, understeer, and etc. but with more arcade precision and fun. Cars need to be more responsive and produce more driving feel as well, though IV does driving better than most driving games.

I'd really like them to use the Euphoria engine again, which I suspect they will do. I expect it will be improved in GTA V from GTA IV after playing RDR and MP3, which also incorporated the engine.

Oh, then OK...I too loved the sluggish feeling of SOME cars in GTA IV. You can feel it mainly when you are taking a turn in full speed. cool.gificon14.gificon14.gificon14.gificon14.gificon14.gif

After playing IV and Mafia II, I can't stand arcadey, weightless driving anymore.  However, I don't think something as ultra realistic as Gran Turismo's physics would be much fun with just a standard controller.  I think refining and building upon IV's physics is the way to go.

The biggest thing they need to improve on though are the bikes.  They're painfully sluggish and unresponsive in IV.

Also, I'm really excited to see how the flight physics turn out in V.

I think the plane handling will be weighty if you know what I mean. You won't be able to make really sharp turns, need ample room

to set up and land. Though that's for bigger planes obviously. The Jet should be fun to fly, looks like it can go pretty fast judging from the trailer though that can change. The Cropduster will probably be capable of stunt like moves like barrel rolls etc. and the skimmer looking plane in the windmill scene will probably fly like a dodo.

I get so excited about V because I keep thinking how IV and RDR were both a great experiment for Rockstar. Now they have all this

tech under their belt and they are using it to their advantage.

If I have to say from the poll, GTA IV. Even though GTA:SA is my favourite, GTA IV is better looking and has good physics.

If I have to say outside the poll, it has to be RDR. Best game R* made so far, IMO.

GTA IV - a great game in my opinion it had one thing that I loved about it was the physics. Not everything is perfect but they were pretty damn good. Cars had weight and would not reach top speed at the push of a button (*cough* GTA: SA *cough*).

I remember a lot of people complained about the games driving controls (on all platforms). I think that everyone got so used to having weightless cars and then suddenly GTA IV makes everything much more realistic.

Anyway enough about GTA IV... onto the real topic: do you want GTA V to have realistic physics or less realistic physics? what I mean by that is do you want to be able to pull of a drift automatically by just pressing the space bar like in Saints Row OR do you want GTA V to stick with the dark realism feel?

Lol. Do you drive, GTAIV was fun but the suspensions were way too soft no car does that in real life, they should tone it down for realism but they might lose the fun, unless if they further tweak the driving. In some aspects the previous generation has better damping physics on the cars.

You do know what Euphoria is, don't you?

Because Euphoria is NOT a physics engine. It's a procedural animation engine. The only tiny bit of physics Euphoria deals with is related to the animation of human figures. That's all.

The main physics engine GTA:IV used is called Bullet which is open source. We don't yet know what GTA:V will use, but it's likely to be a newer version of Bullet.

Almost all Rockstar games have awful physics. Hopefully V will be the first Grand Theft Auto game with good physics and good graphics. I'm not going to vote in this poll because I don't agree with the choices. You lost me when you said GTA IV's physics are realistic.

GTA IV isnt realistic.. its close to realistic but it isnt.. the ragdoll should be decreased because you dont skid on for 200m when getting shot out of the windscreen after a crash.. also light posts should be tougher, the car damage should be increased and when you hit a car too hard with the front side of your car, your engine should stop working (as in real life)..

car handling: cars should have less body roll.. the newer car should be ''stuck'' to the road when cornering instad of losing grip and basicly go straight forward (ABS)

have people react to bullet shots like in max payne 3..

thats all i have right now on the physics..

I'd say GTA IV more realistic than it's competitors. Do you agree? The more realistic the better.

Why the hell do people say that IV is realistic? I don't go outside and see people skidding around corners and smashing it stuff. Nor does the whole car tip to the side when turning.

I hate how cars control in IV. They need to really fix them for V.

This. I never thought the car handling in IV was good. But people say it's the best. I drive and yet when I turn at 15 mph I don't skid.

I also hate how motorcycles drive in GTA IV. They spin on an axis when turning which is just lazy and unrealistic physics. I used to love speeding down the highway on motorcycles on San Andreas but basically all vehicles are undrivable in GTA IV. I think GTA IV's shortcomings were a result of getting used to making games for a new generation of consoles.
