    • Ultra Realistic - I want it to be EXACTLY like the real world

GTA IV - a great game in my opinion it had one thing that I loved about it was the physics. Not everything is perfect but they were pretty damn good. Cars had weight and would not reach top speed at the push of a button (*cough* GTA: SA *cough*).

I remember a lot of people complained about the games driving controls (on all platforms). I think that everyone got so used to having weightless cars and then suddenly GTA IV makes everything much more realistic.

Anyway enough about GTA IV... onto the real topic: do you want GTA V to have realistic physics or less realistic physics? what I mean by that is do you want to be able to pull of a drift automatically by just pressing the space bar like in Saints Row OR do you want GTA V to stick with the dark realism feel?

I'd like them to stay the way they are in IV except polished up a bit. They were just about perfect in GTA IV, so they should keep them like that in my opinion and just polish them up.

GTA IV, but most likely improved. I'd like cars that don't bounce every time you make a small turn, you know, harder suspension on some cars. Soft suspension made the Cavalcade looks so stupid when it turned.

GTA IV with some improvements obviously, too realistic is a game killer for me

I voted for ultra realistic. The driving in IV had some realistic aspects, but most cars lacked power, and more specifically torques. The cars did feel like they had weight in IV, but good cars shouldn't feel that way. The supercars felt heavy, sluggish, and they were pretty weak. I don't know the actual speeds, but I bet 0-60 times were pretty bad. I hope R* did a lot more research for V.

I chose the GTA IV option, but they need to improve some on the physics of the characters while walking around. Mostly just smoothing out the overall look and feel, but also not falling off of cars and things that move less than one inch at a time. biggrin.gif

@BlackNoise ya some vehicles speeds felt wrong or underpowered confused.gif

I think this would be the perfect combination: GTA IV gameplay + Midnight Club LA driving

Thing is though if you crashed in real life going as fast as you can, not only would your car be totaled and not run anymore, but you'd be most likely be dead or severly hurt, that's why I wouldn't like the physics to be like real life, it needs to stay the way they are in IV except with improvements in my opinion.

GTA IV's realistic physics, please. I remember Red Dead's was too realistic.

IV's physics were great, but they need some polishing... they lacked SA's "smooth" feel and were quite stiff. I cannot imagine Niko climbing a mountain without set paths...

Cars felt too heavy for me in IV, i enjoyed the driving and it was more life-like but like i said, the weight wasn't quite right, obvious indicator is how much the suspensions moves, the whole car tilts like crazy on corners.

Some tweaking and it should be even better than IV.

Motorbikes however were hopeless, god help us if they don't change that around a lot.

Normal walk around physics were great, i loved them, but i hated how the slightest bump from a car would knock you over and the character would kinda roll around for just a but too long and it starts to get annoying after a while., but again some tweaking is all that is required.

I would like the physics to be in line with the standard model, with three generations of matter. There should be tau neutrinos and gague bosons. I understand if Higgs Boson is not included because the game was under development before that discovery.

The Driving Physics should stay the rest of the world should have ultra realistic behaviors.

A bit less realistic than IV. RDR has mastered the line between realism and fun controls.

I said like GTA4. I want realism for immersion, but I also want to have fun drifting and such.

After playing IV and Mafia II, I can't stand arcadey, weightless driving anymore. However, I don't think something as ultra realistic as Gran Turismo's physics would be much fun with just a standard controller. I think refining and building upon IV's physics is the way to go.

The biggest thing they need to improve on though are the bikes. They're painfully sluggish and unresponsive in IV.

Also, I'm really excited to see how the flight physics turn out in V.

lol...I didn't think of that. I don't crash much, but that could get annoying.

Crap.. I didn't think of that either, but I'd still love the physics to be atleast almost ultra realistic.. but that would get annoying, I don't know what to say anymore.

Getting nudged from the side from someone going 40Km/h (25-30Mph) will dent the sh*t out of your car, it could even mess your wheel up so you can't drive, cars are all about absorbing impact now so it doesn't take much to dent them.

Talked to a policeman actually, he told me colliding with someone head-on at 60Km/h (the other guy going 60 as well) (Take into account you will probably going 80/100 and then slam the brakes on) you will most probably die and your car will be a write-off.

60k's an hour is all.

I know that 60KM/h is pretty high speed when crashing, and yes, it would get annoying in game. Maybe it'd be better if the physics were somewhat like in IV..

Don't fix it if it ain't broken.

Agreed.

The current physics for the current RAGE engine (not the outdated one IV uses) are perfectly fine. Don't go back to primitive physics (III, VC, SA, etc) or cartoony physics (Saints Row).

Maybe it could be more dynamic. I.e. injuries being more consistent. I've not played Max Payne, but I'm sure they have this don't they?

John The Grudge

I'd like the physics to be like Driver: San Francisco's. The vehicle physics were sublime in that game, particularly when played from the dashboard view. GTA IV's were great though.
