Over the past months, and since the trailer, so many people have justified their thoughts and opinions, and mostly their predictions with the simple phrase "The Perfect Time." Most notably things like the Game Informer cover, The June issue would have been "the perfect time" for a GTA cover. No wait, the same thing was said about July, and August. Wait again... No, September will be "the perfect time" to make the cover. See what I mean? SHowing GTA trailer 2 the day before E3 would have been "the perfect time," as with right after, and then the week after, and also the month after. How many "Perfect Times" have there been? How many more will there be? Gamscom was going to be "the perfect time". Literally every day of any minor significance has been labeled "The Perfect Time" for Rockstar to release trailer 2, or GTA info by at least someone in this community. But they haven't yet. Think of all the past times we all have thought that, and then think of how they all didn't turn out to be true (with the exception of the 2 screen shots in the Asked and Answered, but that's not really what I am going at). There have been a lot of missed "perfect times", and will probably be a lot more. Either Rockstar doesn't know what they are doing, or we just want the soonest possible time for info, and try to justify it. In reality, there should only be one perfect time, and I am sure Rockstar is smart enough to know when. But what do you all think? The ones I talk about generally have to do with the real world, not some date of significance from GTA/rockstar history. In marketing, timing is just as important as the message and in the entertainment industry release dates are important. Release a movie at the wrong time and it'll flop. Before or during E3? Perfect time. Before or during GamesCom? Perfect time. Release in the fall? Perfect time. 9 months after the trailer released? BlackNoise Posted August 15, 2012 Share Posted August 15, 2012 I think this says more about the GTA franchise than the fans who make the predictions. Anytime is "the perfect time" for GTA V. So many people talk about the importance of marketing for every game regardless of popularity, but in reality R* could release GTA V after a two day ad campaign, and they would still sell 5 million+ copies in the first week. And it doesn't even matter how much they sell in the first week anyways, because unlike other games, GTA sales continue long after the game is released. It doesn't take much time to reveal at least a little bit of the game. In the past, they did everything good and fast without big waiting and they had more than just a trailer and 2 screenshots. It's just how interesting it is that when all of us have any shred of hope for when new info will be, and it happens to coincide with some other minor date, we consider it the perfect time disregarding everything else. August 2nd was considered the perfect time for trailer 2, and so was the week before, and that week after the Take2 Conference Call. Months ago would have been the perfect time for marketing to start for an October release... But still today, in mid August, folks still say that now is the perfect time to start marketing for the game to be out Oct. Because it's one of the biggest game franchises in the world. They decide when the "Perfect Time" is, which for us, is always when we're unaware. This helps promote their game more so, because the little shreds of information provided will go viral in no time, sending the internet users into a frenzy. They know exactly what they're doing, and they know the power of viral marketing over the internet. This is why they never turn up to any game events with GTA to show, because they'd be showing their game off among the competition. R* do not need to do this, and therefore show it in isolation, making it look a whole lot better as there is nothing to compare/compete with. Actually, scientists found a another mayan calender. The world ends in the year 4500 now.
