End to end of map in real time

Just to speculate how long it might take to cross the map end to end in a car in real time. I'd say San Andreas took around 8 to 10 minutes by car from Los Santos to Bayside or the desert airstrip, without crashing ( or stopping to mess about on the way for the hell of it ) but obviously the new map will be far bigger so I'm hoping for at 30 minutes this time round or maybe even more, that would mean even a jet would take 10 minutes at least to cross the map.

You must be kidding. 30 minutes? That's like Just Cause 2 if not longer. I don't know. I don't have this game. tounge.gif But there is no way that it'll take 30 minutes to cross the map in GTA V. You'll have to deal with big disappointment, my friend.

I forgot how long it took in Red Dead from the top right of the map (or Tall Trees) to the bottom right of Mexico.. but if I had a guess I'll say double that time

I hope it will take 48 hours to cross the map by car (in-game time). I don't know how much 1 in-game hour in GTA IV corresponds to real time but if you know you can make the calculation.

I think 30 minutes is a bit too long. I think maybe 15-20 minutes. I'm not 100% sure though. I can't remember how long it took to get from Grove St to San Fierro in San Andreas so I can't really compare.

I think a good 15-20 minutes would be perfect. People complaining about not wanting to travel long distances, remember the cabs in GTA IV? Enter destination and skip journey, easy.

i think its too much....20 minutes driving??? i dont believe....

Fuel took me 2 and a half hours from the north-west corner to the south-east corner.

C´mon, most of the map it´s empty... turn.gif

3 min flying in a jet from corner to corner would be good. That ought to be something like 20 minutes in the car.

I remember reading somewhere that in Just Cause 2 it took around 10 minutes to get from one side of the map to the other in the fastest jet in the game.

I'd, more than anyone, enjoy a huge map, without suffering of discomfort by the big journeys , but i just don't think it's realistic...

Probably around 15 - 20 mins IMO.

First San Andreas ever took me 10 minutes to drive across. I have to say I'd like the map to be 36square miles. That would take a while.

I know for a fact that even though the V map may not be as big as some Just Cause crap or Fuel, it will be many times better because of the level of detail and it's actually going to look interesting. Games that usually have incredibly huge maps most of the times have a lot of repetition and/or low level of detail.

Time isn't important as in-game immersion, like space feeling, landscapes "wow", good draw distance, etc.

Even RDR has a huge map and lots of space with nothing ... I prefer a map with high quality and large (SA)-filled spaces of vegetation, rocks and the odd tree wow.gif

30 minutes? Nah, not that.

Like others have said, 10 minutes is enough. For example Red Dead Redemption from say Blackwater to Chuparosa took a while. Personally, a bit longer then that would be fine.

Maybe about 20 minutes as it would get boring going back and forth between places.

I don't think 30 minutes corner to corner is unreasonable. Ever time yourself in GTA 4 from corner to corner took over 15 in average traffic in a car.

They already said this one was three times bigger. I think 30 minutes would be about right. I want enough space to fly so that means a massive map. Flying for three minutes and turning around ins't my idea of fun when it come to Hydra flying.

Taxi travel if you don't like the distance, I can find civilians to run over and police chases to get into on a long drive it makes it entertaining.

I think 30-40 minutes is about right.

When you say "nothing" do you mean "no buildings"? RDR was filled with detail.

I'm sorry, I don't understand-uh are you saying SA was a more detailed map than RDR? whatsthat.gif I don't see how.

In IV I just drove from Faustin's house to the abandoned casino. Stopping for the toll it took me 3:57. 10 minutes feels pretty good to me now. If IV is about 6 Sq.mi including water then that gives us about 14 Sq.mi of highly detailed play area. That's about the same as San Andreas but I can't really expect too much more given the detail and time needed for a map such as this one.

ten minutes? nah, dude. i have the game and i'm pretty sure it does not take that long using the dragonfly or whatever

to get across... probably 3 minutes

while watching the trailer i realized either the Draw Distance is gonna be amazing in GTA V or the map is short as hell

user posted image

Now in this pic notice that the Hills back there seem very close to the Pier its either an illusion on the games Engine or the map is really small or moderate.

P.S. i don't know how to resize pics in this forum
