A Trailer has been shown 9 months ago. The R* marketing usually lasts 6 months....the release date 90% is in march/april....so info and other stuff will come out in late September. With IV it was a couple of trailers, a couple of screenshots and a site, that was it right up to release. There is never going to be a motherload of info, just a couple of teasers. I uploaded a chapter of my fan fic, justice in flames, a day or two before the trailer, yet the story was only 5% written, if that. If that chapter got bad reception, I would have been crushed. The story would have suffered. My point? When you make something and show it off, if it's not finished it's delicate and can easily be damaged by feedback. So, you release a little bit an work on the rest. If you released too much, the creative process would be ruined and you'd end up with no drive. I disagree with the lack of information R* are giving us but as someone who has created things, I can see it from their point of view. They gave us what was ready for us and what we were ready for. The demand was high and we got a trailer but so many people are bitching about the lack of info - are you really that spoilt? Get over it because newsflash, rockstar are it going speed it up for you The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. For one, if you think that trailer was "incomplete as f*ck" then you're hoping for a game R* wont provide. And what buildings and landmarks didn't have textures? Did you even watch the trailer? Still keeps them insdide the last Quarter of financial year 2012. And could boost the end of T2s year end profit prediction. I can't see them boasting such a massive fiscal year over MP3, and Bioshock Infinite. I'm willing to bet MP3 hasn't even broken even yet, and Bioshock wouldn't cary enough weight to make up for that, It's not that popular of a series. I think they are holding their card deck until they put out a GI cover, and I'm sure they do not want to give out a release date, after the bad rep they got for having to change release dates for both GTA IV, and MP3. we might even get to see a gameplay trailer launch at the same time as a gameinformer cover if we get lucky. and we may well see a GTAV A&A in September, where I'm sure they will explain some part of the lack of info. Even if they put the trailer out ahead to get attention to MP3 (which worked) and where going to market GTA after MP3 and some of the DLC was done, but then hit a snag with MP3 being delayed, so they probably had to change up their marketing to move around the MP3 delay. which is why we saw a later then expected MP3 A&A, with a little bit of GTA info + the two sceenshots to appease the angry GTA fans, I would have liked them to give some sort of reasoning for the way they acted, but I don't see them announcing info like that. No part of the trailer has gameplay, its all cut scenes. There are so many aspects to building a game that no one seems to realise. When rockstar said its going to be a while then people should take it for what it is. Play GTA4 again if you can't wait. Do something to occupy your time. They were adding minigames in june 2011 so they were able to show a virtually complete game in november 2011. There has been a huge amount of testing, fettling, optimizing, porting going on and they are adding the final touches now. They will give us a second trailer and release date sometime between now and mid september for a november release. Keep an eye on the newswire, especially thursday. The Epsilon thing is f*cking retarded. If they legitimately just simply don't have much of the game created to show us, at this stage since the reveal, then whoever came up with the idea to announce GTAV back in October should be smashed in the face with a golf club 30 or 40 times. If that's the case, then 343 Industries might as well announce Halo 6 tomorrow. I mean, it's inevitable that it's going to come out right? 343 says they're working on a new trilogy, which would be inclusive of a "halo 6", so why not just announce halo 4, 5 & 6 officially? Oh, because they haven't started jack sh*t on halo 5 & 6, that's why. And rightly so, it would be ridiculous of them to so announce it to the public when next to nothing is completed of the game. This is where R* loses me. At this rate, all I can assume that happened was R* execs got the idea "hey, let's make another GTA!!!" and then came up with an announcement a week later. It's such a stupid way to conduct business, IMO. If you've got something to say/show us, then fantastic. Let us have it. We just have to wait, it's coming, and there is nothing you can do to speed it up (you could slow it down however, ex. blow up R* North HQ ). If this is true, which I doubt, that would just kill my excitement entirely, as I, along with many of us, expect a release date in the near future. I DO however, have a problem with releasing a trailer, or even acknowledging the development of a game, WAY before it ever see's the light of day. There is NOTHING to gain from letting people know so early. It only fosters resentment, as well as paints you into a corner if problems arise, and they ALWAYS do. This is my single biggest problem with Rockstar. Look at what happened with AGENT. It was exciting to hear about it, but WTF? Nobody knows what happened except for Rockstar. I strongly believe that the lengthy wait for Max Payne 3 is the biggest reason that sales were well below expectations. There really isn't any major reason other than the 8 year delay, for such a great game to flounder financially. The game was critically acclaimed by 99% of proffessional game reviewers, as well as gamers who DID play it. Even if you aren't into linear 3rd person shooters, the game simply cannot be denied it's high quality entertainment value. Why can't they wait until 6 months before they can release a game, to announce ANY project? They ONLY thing i can think of is the company stock. In the end just to say that they will add that amount later on in fiscal 14. That's kind of just delaying on their shareholders and giving them the exact same thing, but they must wait longer. If they pull a move like that than their stock will drain. The last thing I want rockstar to do is rush GTA V. I believe that they would know if they needed more time by then. There surely must be hundreds of possible screens that they could throw out there, without any spoilers etc. I dont have a particular theory on why theyre acting like this. Its a bit bizarre. This is close to what I have been thinking as the months drag on since the Trailer. But, in keeping with the OP's hypothesis that maybe Rockstar really does have nothing else to show, possible explanations are: 1. The Trailer was the final product; Rockstar had a team working day and night for 4 years to create the Trailer, a true work of art. They're done, it's over; there is no game. 2. Rockstar wanted to get a trailer out, but development was so far behind that all they could get together was a bunch of textured facades, no 3D buildings behind them - kind of like the movies. Come to think of it, Sam and Dan really like making movies. Maybe this is the bold new direction - a sandbox game consisting of a series of 2D movie sets strewn across the landscape ... They also said that they will show us assets "soon", but we all know what that mean. Its already been a month. That was in 2007 and in 2009 they gave us first info and a release date for October 2009 was announced. But then something went wrong. Either the game is cancelled or it's a PS4 exclusive now. So the earliest possible start of V's developement in my opinion was fall 2009/very early 2010. I just wanted to make this clear. Anyway for the people who said GTA V trailer looked like incompleted: Please show me some incompleted scenes. The trailer is the evidence that GTA V isn't far away. That was 9 months ago so we can say that GTA V is in one of the very latest development stages. Unless there are some heavy developement problems which I doubt because Rockstar already made GTA IV and Red Dead Redemption which were big open-world games. your right where are the incomplete scenes in the trailer i was looking and loking and watched it over 50 times today and can not see any incomplete parts apart from the buildings with cranes around them lol Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You guys are making it sound like the whole art department has to down tools in order to release info. They dont, thats why there is a dedicated marketing department. All they have to do is grab some jpegs off a server and bang them online. May is the latest possible releasemonth. And maybe also the most plausible one. No matter what they say about their financial situation and that it needs to come out before the end of March.
