Ok guys. Take this with a grain of salt because it means nothing, more than likely. But it could make some good discussion.

 

So yesterday i was picking up sleeping dogs and i was talking to the manager about GTA V. He was saying he doesnt know anything, like us. But he was hoping to get some sort of info at a convention in texas, were he said they meet with publishers, maybe to make preorder exclusives? I have never heard of this meeting or convention so if some could enlighten me. And he also said to check in after the madden release as the convention should be over sometime after the release.

Rockstar could to show something to retail partners or even provide a release window to the gamestop bosses.

 

Gamestop added a GTA V Mailing list ,"BE THE FIRST TO KNOW!"(release date of course), three weeks ago or so.

As you guys know the big retailers usually know the release date with some anticipation to common fans.

 

What gamestop said so far (by early March) is that GTAV is not factored into the retailer's 2012 forecast. "In terms of GTAV, we don't have followed information that we can share at this point so we have not put that into our forecast. We would adjust our estimate if we had knowledge that GTA was coming out [in 2012]."

 

If you look at european affiliates from gamestop, for example you can see,3/1/2013 from Ireland gamestop or 11/16/2012 from Spain gamestop.

I'm done with dates of events that have hope of leading to GTAV news. Why? Because they won't. There are 2 things that R* have said that we really need to focus on, that I feel we're disregarding.

 

1. They want GTAV to be as much as a surprise as possible (i.e. they don't want to give too much away).

 

2. "Keep an eye on the newswire for future GTAV news". Sound familiar? I'm sure we're all numb to this statement by now, but the meaning remains the same. We won't hear about GTAV in some magazine reveal or some gaming event. We'll hear it from yours truly, R* games themselves on the newswire.

 

This means that not only is a 2012 release still possible, but we need to have regard only for the Newswire, nothing more.

 

 

Now can we just accept these terms and wait for some info?

During the TTWO conference call it was explained that giving retailers early info about a game's release was a courtesy and not necessary. I'm not sure how far in advance retailers need release info, but it's probably not much time.

 

This is why I don't trust any retailer sh*t anymore.
