Well I've played since GTA 3 and I loved GTA IV (especially TBOGT). I own all of the game on PC but I can't run GTA IV... and I don't have enough money to upgrade it. Good news I recently got a job so I could upgrade in the future.

I've played GTA IV on pc (at my cousins place) and I did not like it very much... the controls ruined it for me... and the crashes too. So I am leaning towards the Xbox 360 version because I enjoyed GTA IV so much more on it.

Note: I don't own a PS3 and don't plan on getting one

Since you don't own a PS3 I say PC. What I heard is for the xbox that you will have to download the game to the hard drive to play it.

Well, if your computer can handle it, just grab yourself a decent controller and your good to go. Personally, I prefer the Xbox version, though I hoping it wont be on multiple disks. Pain the the ass.

PC always dude... I may get a good one myself instead of buying a PS4 / X720

This is mainly supported by assumption (and a likely assumption at this), GTA V's expectations for a system are probably far beyond your reach if you can't even run GTA IV; considering you can see major improvements in most of the footage/screens shown. So, essentially, you're better off getting an Xbox 360 version for a better experience without emptying out your pocket. But that's just my opinion.

By the way, you misplaced GTA V and GTA IV.

@redx165 (sorry quote got screwed up)

Well is the PS3 worth it? I mean I have never played on one much. I don't want to invest in a new console just for one game confused.gif

As for the hard drive thing its not that big of a deal to me because I have a 120GB hard drive (black Friday ^_^) and plenty of space. My Xbox is a pro (white case w/silver disc drive plate).

Hope to god no "PC wins consoles suck" losers come and start flamewars.

OT: I would say PC for modding and maybe better performance, I don't know, always get my GTA's for PS3, just like it that way.

Nvidia GeForce GT 430 (weak... need to upgrade that)

For one game. No but the good things about PS3 now is:

Free online

Developers are using PS3 as a lead consoles now ( Besides for COD that comes to my mind )

Great Exclusives

Blue ray Discs

These four come to my mine right now.

I don't know why these rumors persist as much as they do... Games on 360 are not allowed to require any hard drive space to play. There have only been a couple of exceptions, and they are mostly only for online play or better textures only.

That said, PC is the better option of the two for a few reasons:

  • Modding option
  • Better quality
  • Cheaper
  • Can use either keyboard and mouse OR an xbox 360 controller (negating the OPs control complaint)
  • Free online play

360 really only has one real advantage, pop it in and play. No dealing with installing, configuring, etc.

PS3 installing isn't even long. Maybe 5 minutes. But I do think GTA V will have to be downloaded to the hard drive to be played on Xbox 360. We already know it's going be more than 1 disc.

I love the PS3 for having those four options. But for me though, even if you have to pay to go online; it's a premium service. Besides, it got Minecraft!.

You don't need to install it. It runs better installed however. Besides, I heard that for the PS3, you have to download it from the shop, then download it onto your PS3. Sounds like a pain.

Well Minecraft is good but it doesn't look good on Xbox then on PC. But for me PS3 if your talking about buying games online than you buy the game and download it to the ps3 than install it which would take another couple minutes.

Free online, PC has it too.

Can you provide proof on the lead console thing? From what I've seen, most devs are using PC as the development system and then porting the underlying engines independently to each console. (Meaning there is no lead console)

360 has great exclusives, PC has great exclusives, Wii has great exclusives, Atari 2600 has great exclusives....(Was there a point to this subjective point?)

Blu-Ray Disc is the only true, non suggestive, non biased advantage to games on the PS3, however, developers don't and can't use this to their advantage that often because of time constraints and other bottlenecks in the system. So most games that do fill the disc are full of uncompressed data and audio instead of real extra content or stuff. Plus, as the PS3's Blu-Ray drive is slower than the DVD drive in most other systems, it actually causes another bottleneck in situations.

Proof? If you are using LA Noire as an example, know that that example is flawed because of the different technology it uses. I have prescience saying that it will not have to be installed. There has never been an open world Rockstar game that needed more than one disc on 360, and I'm willing to bet GTA V will be no different.

Not sure how quickly qualify mods would come out for V. I'd say, if money is an issue: buy the Xbox version, get the job, save up funds to upgrade your pc, and maybe by that time, you'll also have enough cash to buy the PC version.

I'd go with PC dude, Xbox will literally have more than 1 disk I can tell (if not then good for them but PC has better performance and judging by the latest ports by R* I'm sure it'll be a better port than GTA IV)

You do know I'm not talking bad about PC right??? Assassins Creed 3, Far Cry 3 are being lead on development for PS3. ( I also hear PS3 is being in the lead and xbox will get the port for GTA V. Don't know if it's true or not. ) Xbox exclusives you made me laugh. Halo is becoming Call of Duty and Gears of War is it. I would say get GTA V as long as it gets a good port to pc. DVD drive is way to old. M$ use it to get on the market first. Also are you dumb?? GTA V will have more than one disc.

And you do know I'm not talking down about the PS3 right? The point being that you are putting one system up on a pedestal where it doesn't belong. Each system has its own weaknesses and advantages, but you are using opinion as an advantage for one system and opinion as an disadvantage for another.

(Btw: FPS's aren't the only exclusives. Ever heard of Viva Pinata or Ratchet and Clank Nuts and Bolts?)

As far as the DVD drive, yeah, its outdated now, but so is the slow version of the Blu-Ray drive in the PS3. Yes MS used the DVD to come out first, but they also did it to keep prices down, and because they knew games wouldn't need the extra space at the expense of the load times and price for a while.

And no, I have no issues with vocal speaking, so I am not "dumb", thank you for asking. However, I don't see what that has to do with the number of discs GTA V will have. Perhaps you are ignorant to the true meaning of "dumb" and decided to use it as an insult to my intelligence? If so, I shall indulge. Until GTA V is release, we do not have any way of knowing how large the game will be, thus we have no way of knowing how many discs it will take. Thus, trying to call me stupid for using past precedence as a likely example verses listening to rumor and hear-say has more to say about you than me.

Then why are you attacking me like a fanboy would??? I'm telling him what GTA V would be best for. PC would be it but IDK if his PC can run it. GTA V is going have atleast 2 discs for Xbox 360. I would take the longer load time which isn't even that long. I got xbox and ps3 and they are about the same. Just to have it on one disc.

Like I said My order:

PC - If your PC can run it.

PS3 - If it's true it's the lead console also that it has one disc.

360 - Cause your have more discs.

I am pointing out where your argument is only brought on by fanboyism. I am showing how you are being the fanboy. (Plus the fact that the OP asked which of 360 or PC, and you brought in PS3 with him specifically saying he didn't want it.)

You are using baseless arguments and speculation to make it seem like you are right, while I point out that there is no way to know yet, and yet you take it as an attack.

You know what they say about those that feel guilty...

How about this, show me proof that isn't rumor that GTA V on 360 is going to be on more than one disc, and I will admit that I am a fanboy of whatever console you want me to be.

Honestly, just get it for what ever system you feel comfortable with. From what you wrote, it sounds like you would be more comfortable with the Xbox 360 version. You always want to get the bang for your buck, so just buy it for whatever system YOU prefer. Hope I helped. smile.gif

Ok look at it like this. GTA V suppose to be the BIGGEST OPEN WORLD GAME TO DATE for them. Rockstar loves to put as much detail as possible into GTA. Also if it true V will have alot of fun features like SA than why wouldn't be take up more than one disc. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a xbox disc 8 GB???

Since the game doesn't seem to be releasing for a while yet, I'd say get the money to upgrade your PC and get yourself a wired 360 controller to play with, just plug it in and play smile.gif I'm upgrading my PC, mainly because I want to be able to run V and IV really well. The PC version will be able to have better graphics and FPS and a huge plus at least for me is modding. A really good computer isn't actually that expensive. I'm planning on selling mine + the monitor and getting like $450 dollars for it, and then using that toward the computer I'm buying, which also includes a monitor.

jnzooger and redx165: Why are you arguing over discs?! I don't mind having to insert a separate disc its not that big of a deal -.- as for platform I am probably going to get the Xbox 360 version (assuming it comes out on the 360) because GTA IV was much better imo. Controls were great, game play/story was awesome, the city was alive, and many other things. Hopefully GTA V will be great too.

@everyone saying upgrade my pc: I will in the future (depending on the job pay and what not) but I am going for the 360 version for now anyway. REMEMBER graphics and FPS are not everything tounge.gif - I played GTA IV on a large CRT TV and dealt with jaggies for a while but then I got a small HDTV but I enjoyed both equally I still like to play on the CRT TV (you know the fat ones that can crush you with ease) for the bigger screen.

I'm buying me a PC next year to start gaming. This PC, imma upgrade to a better processor and get windows 64bit. It's so i can play GTA IV for right now, because I'm sick of modding SA.

Still will get V on PS3 also. icon14.gif
