    • Very important. Rockstar does a great job choosing songs for GTA series.

I don't give a sh*t about music and I often turn off the radio while driving.. I rather listen to the sound effects.

And I can't believe that I am the only one who voted for the third option..

Sometimes music can be too loud. So just turn it down in settings.

Very important to a lot of fans. Music is only unimportant to players who don't play with sounds.. smile.gif

I hope they do a better job. IV music sucked. VC and SA had the best Music in there. I could just drive around hearing some good music. Not in IV.

Agreed, I wish Radio LS, K-dst and Playback FM return. With good music ofcourse. Not the sh*t they gave in IV. Even OG locs raps were better. jk

Music in GTA has been meh since San Andreas. GTA isn't really Final Fantasy so its not really a huge necessity to have an awesome soundtrack.

It's very important for me, I hope they include some great songs just like they did with Vice City and San Andreas. Throw on 10-15 not well known songs by well known bands and 2 - 5 hits on each radio station that would be great.

The music in GTAV won't make or break the game for me, if all other aspects of it are good, I'll still enjoy it. With that said, the music is still somewhat important because it's what I'll be listening to almost half of the game. Rockstar have never disappointed me with their choices, though.

well...i'll use my own MP3 station anyway most likely, so it doesn't bother me as well (i'm PC user)...i'd rather rely on my own taste, than trust someone else's tastes and listen to the stuff they impose...

Of course music plays a huge role in every GTA, especially in building and offering that very specific ambiance and atmosphere that R* wants us to feel.

The music has to be fully connect with the city atmosphere and with the time line of the game.

So yeah, I truly trust in R* when it comes to the soundtrack they choose for every GTA. They know what to do about it, and they don't go around choosing some random sh*t which doesn't suits the game's atmosphere and vibe.

I've never had any problems with any soundtrack of any GTA I've played until today. But there's always this or that radio station which I don't like to listen that much, but that depends on the musical tastes of every gamer, it's not R* fault if you don't like the music.

So, we're going to hear more skrillex, lil wayne, eminem and rihanna. Let's just hope we aren't.

Why?

If there is one radio station with crap mainstream music it does not mean all radio stations are bad.

There always has to be some crap radio station for some individuals out there.

Those individuals also like to play GTA.

...problem is that those "INDIVIDUALS" are the majority bud...thats why we must deal with 80% of that stuff...WE ARE individuals here i'm afraid...as for me i personally listen to only good old stuff 60's, 70's, 80's and somewhat 90's, i can't stay music that is produced after millenium hit...my favorite singers are Billy Joel, Chris Rea, Joe Cocker and such, so you could figure i'm in minority...

Ok, I'd say 60% though.

Still, shame really..

...like i said at the top of this page here thats not big problem for me since there will most likely be an MP3 station anyway and i will play it on PC, so i'll place my own tracks in my MP3 folder, launch game, select MP3 station and will be glad i don't have to deal with those mainstream sh*tty teenage stuff down my throat...and i encourage everyone else who's going to play it on PC to follow my example, much less to complain...though i wish DJs would acknowledge tracks i uploaded for my MP3 player, but i understand how its impossible... biggrin.gif

Gold Standard

Good to know I'm with the majority. Sometimes I just feel like staying in a parked car and listening to the various radio stations.

GTA V needs to allow custom music from the hard drive on the ps3 and xbox 360 ports.

I do it all the time. Love listening to the ranting and raving and the awesome tunes. Sometimes in a mission I'll park about a meter away from the marker so I can finish listening to whatever it is I'm listening to at the time.

The music is as much a part of GTA as jacking cars and picking up prostitutes. While the music in GTAIV was good, it didn't have as much impact as it's predecessors. The music really set the mood in Vice City and San Andreas because they were period pieces set in very specific eras. GTAIV was a modern setting, so the music didn't really invoke any feeling of nostalgia. It looks like GTAV will also be in a modern setting, so i don't really expect the music to have the same impact as in previous gen installments.

I have to respectfully disagree with your prediction of GTA 5, but i think the rest of it is fairly true, except i think GTA 4 were base to much off of trends, and not solidly good music. Were as I think they will base GTA 5 off a west coast theme.

What is a "west coast" theme, in today's world? I don't think the QUALITY of music in GTAIV had as much to do with it's disconnection, as the modern setting. Great music is a matter of opinion. Vice City had some songs i loved, and some i didn't. However, the REAL impact was the feeling of nostalgia that came from the music. Nostalgia doesn't exist in a modern setting, so regardless of how "great" the music is, you aren't being taken back in time to anything, and THAT was a huge reason why people remember Vice City and San Andreas so fondly.

I've always loved listening to the radio in GTA whenever I got bored. My favorites in IV were Liberty Rock, Beat 102.7, and Vladivostok FM. I hope the great en-thriving radio returns in V.
