I seriously believe this. ok after looking at best selling video games on wiki, I really do know NOTHING lol. It will still sell an absurd amount. If at all then you underestimate the game by a lot. I think it could easily make 4 times more than you're guessing. GTA V could probably sell.. 3-4 million units the first day or two. GTA games has a very long shelf life. In total GTA V would probably sell 30 - 40 million, but that's over a very long period of time. Maybe 8 - 12 years time.

Gtaghost22
More than Black Ops 2. GTA IV sold 24m copies, and it was released 4 years ago, back when the install base for consoles was very small (45-50m), almost 50% of console games bought it back then, the install base now is 3.5x as big as it was in 2008 (143m consoles available) and crappy MW3 only outsold IV by 5 million haha, if 50% of console owners bought GTA V (just like what happened with IV) it will sell more than 70m copies which is obviously too much, but it will without a doubt sell more than 35-40 million copies at least, which is enough to crush CoD. My prediction: Day 1: 10-13 Million Copies. First 2 Months: 25-30 Miliion Copies. After 2 Years: 40-45 Million Copies. Not more than Black Ops 2, I guarantee. LOL. You're just kidding, right? ExtremoMania
GTA V will presumably have 6-8 million copies sold in a week, that's about like $550-600 million in opening week sales alone. In the first 24 hours, GTA V may have 4-5 million copies worldwide. In UK, GTA V will surpass GTA IV as the fastest-selling game within 24 hours period, presumably hitting 700,000-800,000 copies. The title might also make 2-3 million more sales in 7th generation consoles than GTA IV alone in the 1st 5 days. In 2-3 years, 25-30 million copies is expected to be sold worlwide. Those are my views of the sales for this upcoming game. I'm sure this game would definitely surpass Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. RockStarNiko
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2007 360 = 8.7m PS3 = 6.17m Grand Theft Auto IV 2008 360 = 9.8m PS3 = 9.3m Call of Duty: World at War 2008 360 = 6.77m PS3 = 4.89 Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 2009 360 = 12.87m PS3 = 10.02m Call of Duty: Black Ops 2010 360 = 13.55m PS3 = 11.53m Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 2011 360 = 14.51m PS3 = 12.36m Grand Theft Auto V 2013 360 = ? PS3 = ? It will definitely sell more than 10m copies on each console. I think if its a great game and gets great reviews and the buzz and marketing is crazy, then it will break 15m copies on each console and smash records

Andreas
Sorry for bump and double-post at the same time! Anyway I often saw here discussions about how well games sell on each platform. I have made the calculation with the following games: Bioshock 2, The Darkness II, NBA 2K12, GTA IV, Borderlands 2, Spec Ops: The Line, Duke Nukem Forever, L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3; NOTE: These numbers are without the digitally sales on PC but they don't change much in any case. All these titles together sold 40 million copies. 17.9 million times on Playstation 3, 20.18 million times on XBox 360 and 2.02 million times on PC. Game2048
It's hard to predict. It also depends on how long the game will be actual(how long before the next GTA) I'd say, somewhere around 27 - 35 mln Edited October 9, 2012 by Game2048
Andreas
Activision has shared their new numbers with us. Call Of Duty: Black Ops II made 500 million dollar in 24 hours. Just for comparison: Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, the past sequel of the CoD series made about 400 million dollar in 24 hours and sold so about 6.5 million copies. So that means BOII sold nearly 8.5 million copies in the first 24 hours after the release. That's a ridiculously high ammount of money that Activision is earning. Now I think it's even more interesting to see how well GTA V will sell. What do you think, guys? Will GTA V blow Call Of Duty out of water if it comes to the sales or not? hubert101010
Pretty sure its going to set a record for "Biggest Entertainment Launch Ever" which was set with GTA 4, then broken by Modern Warfare 2, Black Ops then Modern Warfare 3. I think this will appeal to an even larger audience than GTA 4, plus more people have 360s and PS3s now. So I think a sizable increase over GTA 4, and maybe even topping San Andreas after a year or two of sales.

Space Cowboy
GTA V will easily beat IV's sales and maybe Black Ops II too. Why people buy CoD anyway? Any GTA is much better.

Take-Two's finance report usually calculate a bit more than $80 per copy of each game but it can vary. Let's say they would calculate about $85 per copy then GTA V would have to sell 11-12 million copies in the first 24 hours after the release. That's very unlikely. That would be about 30% more sold copies than CoD Black Ops II did and I doubt this pretty much.
