36Chambers
A year after it comes out, I expect it to sell at least 25 million copies. GTA V is slowly starting to shape up into something more than just a game. I know some of you have your opinions about the tone of the game but I'm expecting a near cinematic experience. It's always been the games that took ideas from movies, but I think this might just be the game to turn that around. In 2023, people will be playing this game and they'll talk about how it changed not only the game industry, but the whole entire entertainment industry as a whole. Sorry if I'm over thinking this, I'm just too damn excited.
goh13
CoD isn't even in the top 3 in pre-order charts this year, that is the first time since CoD 4, people are losing interesting in that sh*tty series. GTA V will destroy everything in it's way next year It is... 1. Halo 4 2. Call of Duty: Black Ops II 3. Assassin's Creed III Top 3 pre-ordered games so far, 2012. That wasn't the case last month, but whatever that's still sh*t compared to past years (28% down) getting beat in pre-order numbers by an exclusive tells us that CoD ain't the king of sales anymore. I still stand by my prediction. GTA V will sell more than Halo 4 and BO2 combined, just wait and see. No it won’t. Halo took BO2 place, right? By that logic, both Halo AND BO2 will sell a lot. Not even GTA OR CoD itself can do what you are talking about. GTA V WILL sell by the sh*tload, it may or may not beat GTA IV and that is about it. That is all I can say for now without seeing normal sales or pre-orders of GTA V. Fany boys level in this thread is over 9000
theworldfamous
|----------------------------------------------------------| that much... anyway, it's not interesting. Day one or first month sales are gonna be big, obviously. But where GTA stands out is in shelf life. It keeps on selling well for years. IV is still selling well. They dropped the price to 20 euros now, and it's back in the charts. The game is 4 years old! A lot of stores still stock San Andreas too. That's what's gonna be interesting about V sales, not the actual numbers..
Frantz Fuchs
It will sell 30 Million.

Andreas
40 Million or more. 40 million copies? Holy f*ck, that's a little bit too much. Don't you think? Just to make it clear: Microsoft had released 68 million XBox 360s (September 2012) and Sony had released 62 million Playstation 3's (February 2012) until today. Johan
Not more than Black Ops 2, I guarantee. At least 25 million copies in the first year
Cyfa
35 million. This game will surprise even us. I honestly believe it will be considered among the greatest games of all time. It's Rockstar, they put work and quality into their games.

It's Rockstar, they put work and quality into their games. I agree This is Rockstar we are talking about I bet they will make a game that has that much impact as san andreas did. Take a look, san andreas was released in 2004-2005, that's about 7-8 years from now, and it's a game i still play on a daily basis. (thanks to the multiplayer(samp) and the possibilty to mod.) the game will hopefully be something revolutionary and keep us playing for years and years. Im aiming for 20/30 million sales in about two years...

But both will have around 30 million-ish sales. It will be considered The Game of the Generation by many.

Frantz Fuchs
PC has no where near as good sales as consoles. IV had 0.7 million on PC, 10 million on xbox.
rdfdsv
I seriously do not know why there's so much interest in the general crowd to purchase another call of duty game. If presented with the chance... say you only have 70$ (unless you are a hardcore call of duty game) on that month would you buy gta v or black ops 2? (rhetorical question since we are in a gta community). I don't know why one would buy a game that looks like past experiences with one or two more features and better graphics over a grand theft auto re-invention, that will probably break all the boundaries we know in this generation. Just a little bit of rant i'll post here, read it if you want, I hate how some individuals still doubt gta v will pass gta iv, when it has been FOUR years! since gta iv was released. The time lapse between san andreas and iv was also four years, and it was a huge leap. V will surely be a huge leap aswell.
Andreas
So I guess people forgot about PC. What is going on? PC's are a very important platform for the gaming companies but the sales aren't as good as on the consoles. I'll buy GTA V for PC so this is 1. Audiophile will play the game on his Notebook so this are already 2. Shreddy Krueger
Well if there's no major crap-ups upon release (i.e. unplayable, broken multiplayer a la Max Payne 3), and the single player is innovative and as "big" as R* is seemingly making it out to be, than given the amount of consoles that are currently owned by the public, I can easily see a target of 15-20 million copies being sold within the first 30 days. I think the PC launch will be held off by a couple of months, not because I'm a console fanboy, but because I believe, and I feel R* knows, that there will be a number of die-hard fans who will purchase a console version, and then another PC version upon release. It's sneaky, but they can get away with it because some consumers will pay twice.
GeorgeLopez
Well if a Call Of Duty comes out every year and still manages to sell 6.5 million copies in it's first 24 hours (MW3) I'd say V would do 7 million easily. When IV was out the consoles were still relatively new, now they've been out for 6 or 7 years so, yeah.

Casual gamer don't give a f*ck about it. More than 90% of the sales are from casual gamer. Algonquin Assassin
I am guessing not very good everyone is boycotting gta v because lack of info Half of the idiots who say they'll boycott it don't even know what it means. Most say they wont buy it on release, but pre-owned even though that goes against a boycott. Anyone remember Joan Crawford? She (he ) was notorious for that. GTA V will sell just fine. Most people talk sh*t when they say they wont buy it.
significantother
I'm kind of sadistic, because last night I had a dream that Grand Theft Auto V came out but received really negative reviews, and didn't sell well and everybody on the gta forums was raging about how bad the game was... lol

I Luke
Hopefully V will be my new favorite GTA, and by the sounds of everyone else on the forums and other places, It might well do a good job of replacing the classic SA. No idea on sales, more than any other GTA though, that's for sure.

TreyCrll
I predict that if they release it early like they did with IV, then they will still break a sales record, but also break a "return for store credit" record, but If they take their time, then they will break sales records for the game on both consoles, plus their Multiplayer Servers will crash due to over population lol. Just a wild prediction though....No pressure.
