GTA IV sold 3.6 million copies on the first day, 6 million copies in the first week, 8.5 million copies in the first month and more than 13 million copies in the first year. GTA IV sold 20.02 million copies according to vgchartz between the release and today. We have to assume that a large part sales on PC today are via internet so for example Steam. GTA IV had 6 millions pre-orders. Since the announcement of GTA V the sales of the old sequels like GTA SA and GTA IV has been boosted. Call of Duty 2 was released on November 3rd 2005 and it sold according to vgchartz ~5.94 million copies until today. GTA Liberty City Stories was released on October 24th 2005 and it sold according to vgchartz ~10.98 million copies until today. Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare was released on November 8th 2007 (the fall is a very good quarter to sell games!) and it sold according to vgchartz ~17.01 million copies until today. Today there are 5 times more consoles on the market than at the time when GTA IV was released. So what do you think, guys? How many copies will GTA V sell on the first day, in the first week, in the first month, in the first year etc.? I expect it to have almost the same amount of sales as SA, but that kind of depends on R* getting their thumbs out of their asses and actually start marketing the damn game. I doubt that we'll see San Fierro, Las Venturas and Vice City. Bigger than Just Cause 2? JC2's map is 400 square miles big and the map of GTA SA is 13.6 square miles big so ~30 times smaller. The detail of JC2's map is nothing like Rockstar's handle of details. Dynamic Seasons? That would cost a lot of space and I don't think that current consoles could even handle this. Dynamic weather changes? That was in every GTA if I'm right. A release in 2013 is possible (expect January, that'd be stupid). Of course its name is GTA V but it won't have the first 3 points. Considering that Grand Theft Auto IV cost $100 million to develop, lets just say that V costs $250 Million (over-exaggerated but still) to develop. Rockstar makes a profit of 1.75 Billion US Dollars. If Modern Warfare 3 can sell 13 Million within the first week, why can't GTA V sell 15 Million? And if MW3 can sell 28 Million overall (so far) why cant GTA V sell 35 Million?
