Has RDR ruined the 'fresh' experience of V?

RDR is set in 1911 and 1914 so it's way different than GTA V. RDR is more about the old west with small towns and a big countryside. GTA V is set in 2008 and is going be more set in Los Santos than the countryside.

I actually think the countryside is going to be quite bigger than Los Santos, and I think the game is going to be set the day it comes out (present day), not 2008.

He means the city will be like it was in 2008, storyline and stuff will be present day! wink.gif

Oh, ok (not a big deal). What about the countryside? This guy says Los Santos will be like the main-focus instead of the countryside like RDR was (my interpretation of his point), do you agree? Because I think both Los Santos and the countryside will be equally as "pampered" by Rockstar.

If that was the case, they wouldnt even put the CS in, it is R* at the end of the day, professional perfectionists.

Both will look immense believe me, never doubt R*.

I haven't played red dead. But I've played NOIRE and i don't think it has spoiled even ten percent of V's setting. On the other hand, i haven't played MP3 either. So, all those RAGE improvements past IV will be totally new to me giving me a whole new feeling.

Cheers for all the input fellas. Been slightly put at ease with some of the comments. I know it will be a completely different feel with the addition of highways, wind farms etc I just hope the feel of the non-industrial side of the country feels completely new from RDR.

I was just thinking about the mission in RDR where you rescue Jack from the bear up on that mountain. After wasting the bear, I couldn't resist the urge to walk to the edge of the peak and take in the breath-taking views, then thinking.....-arrgghhhhh why am I doing this? I promised myself I'd wait till these epic mountains in the V trailer for this moment!!!!

Maybe I'm a little crazy, but for me, the surroundings and enviroment have always been the most important element in GTA.

happy.gif Hell no, I don't see how it could. Texas does not feel like SoCal, and I gurantee that the countryside in V will not look or feel the same.

I envy people who haven't played RDR yet, I'd love to experience my 'Game of this gen' for the first time again. I'm not even a fan of Westerns.

I'm only concerned that the new fresh graphics aren't so fresh now that it's so

Many months since the first trailer. But, it will be beautiful when your flying and the sun is rising in the morning etc. There will be so many new experiences in the game with updated graphics it will all make up for it.

I don't really think that Red Dead has ruined the V experience. In fact, it only excites me even more. RDR and GTA V are 2 completely different free roam games, so I don't think it'll ruin the V experience. Just imagine an urban area with that advanced of a RAGE engine. inlove.gif

I found RDR to be completely forgettable.

You can't be serious, Red Dead Redemption is a f*cking masterpiece, i'm not sure you even played it.

Maybe I'm a little crazy, but for me, the surroundings and enviroment have always been the most important element in GTA.

I put RDR aside for a while and when most recently playing it again, I enjoyed the environment, the nature that is. Walking through the grass, the muddy waters, having this wide view from Rathskeller Fork.

Now GTA V's trailer only gave us a glimpse but it looks like we'll be getting a huge beautiful countryside there as well. In contrast to Los Santos the city itself.

Definitely looking forward to this. I must say, one of the mission from San Andreas I will remember is the one where CJ is in the countryside for the first time, has to go up that mountain and kill some witness.

Loved the whole setting, getting up there, with only a shotgun I stole from a police car, and then chasing that guy down, trying to ram him off the hill.

LC in IV had too little countryside. There are some areas in Alderney but not too much.

RDR hasn't ruined GTA V for me in any way, it even gets me thrilled for it.

@junkpile

Yeah I remember that mission. I also remember how disappointed I was with the sh*tty draw distance in SA. When I first read about Mt Chilliad in a magazine article back in '04, I was so excited. Then we got the 1st screen shot and I couldn't wait to drive up and take in the view. But all you could see was the tips of the trees directly below and clouds. Nothing else. Was definitely one of the few things that disappointed me about San Andreas.

The draw/view distance in RDR was great. You could see one end of the mountains from the other. Hopefully it will be even more sharp and crystal clear in V.

No, because the purpose of a GTA game is to wow you with the scenery and map. The gameplay and story are second nature, but it is the environment that really drives the game (same for RDR).
