What if GTA V is the last... in a box?

It's the way it's gonna be, you either move on and accept it or start whining. If the only possible way to buy let's say GTA VI is to buy it online without going to the store and getting a box with cool cover art and an awesome map inside, I'll deal with it, nothing big.

I Shot The Sheriff

What worries me about the digital format is that second hand won't be there no more, and the f*cking developers will controll all the market. f*ck capitalism.

It won't be like that next-gen.

Here is my previous post, i already proved next-gen consoles will have optical disk drives like usual:

F*ck EA, nobody gives a f*ck about them.

Sony & Mircrosoft already confirmed next-gen consoles will NOT be download-only like it was rumoured, they will have normal optical disk drives just like this gen:

http://www.vg247.com/2012/05/30/report-son...nload-only-ps4/

AGAIN IN BOLD LETTERS.

SONY & MICROSOFT CONFIRMED THAT NEXT-GEN CONSOLES WILL HAVE OPTICAL DISK DRIVES AS USUAL.

I think it's clear that next-gen won't be digital only. The internet is famous but still not famous enough to let physically disks die out. We're far away from that. VERY FAR.

It won't be, but god I hate digital only games. Once I spent all day downloading one and guess what happens? I play it for a bit, turn my PC off, it installs updates and the updates are corrupted so I have to restore my PC to an earlier date... before I finished the download.

I'm against digital distribution only --> only greedy companies would support this.

1. Not everyone has an extremely fast DL speed required to DL some of these 20+ GB games in a reasonable amount of time.

2. It would totally kill local retail outlets, so you can kiss your local Gamestop Goodbye!

3. There will no longer be a preowned market, meaning your useless digital DLs can't be resold for even 1c.

4. Since the big tycoons like EA, Activision, Ubisoft et Al will now have TOTAL control over the price they charge for each game, expect a highly inflated price that will almost never go down as time flies. I mean, on PSN now there are full games that are years old being sold at 49.99, when in your local retail you can pick it up for less than $15

5. Companies will do everything they can to restrict players as much as possible, especially if they have total control over digital distributions. Online passes are just the beginning folks...

6. Piracy will go haywire, after all, it IS a form of digital distribution

They won't be able to go download only on any big ticket games anywhere in the near future. Simply put, those without internet, no games. When big game goes for sale and crashes servers, no game/disgraceful download time. It may be able to save a few 911 calls at midnight releases, but nothing more. I do however, see hard copies of games supplemented at/near launch with download choice. However, due to the lack of effort required to press "Download Now" I see downloads coming at a slightly higher cost at launch, because of the greedy douches we have for game companies now, and because people would likely buy it that way anyway. As some games are already doing, preordering a download would give you access to the game a few days before retail release. This will likely continue and grow as well. I like box games, as I don't need internet to get them, I have better security with them (no chance to be wiped from console memory), and the fact that it is what I have lived with.
