First time...

I want to inform myself about Gamescon and I guess that there might be people here who have been to it once or so. What can I expect and also would it be possible to get with "press" privileges or something? (maybe even, towards the admis/owners if I could possibly go in name of "GTANET?").

 

I know Rockstar (well, atleast the latest info I had on it) won't be representing there but still. Maybe even any tips on how I could go as press on my own ("indie press" or something along those lines).

 

(sidenote: I will go on Saturday).

I'm pretty sure press credentials are issued a fair amount of time before the event. I think you may be out of luck and just have to go to the event as a normal person.

 

Still cool though. Fun time for sure I'm guessing.

Well when I wanted to buy a ticket online I could sign up as press or something (or representative from somekind of website/... whatever). And I figured I'd be able to get some exclusive hands on certain things then.

It sucks how Gamescom started right after I left Germany.

 

Anyways, what privileges do you get if you go as press?

I've had press passes to music award shows with international and local artists. It's cool because in the press area there was free food and you could meet some famous people. I got a pass as a photographer for a local radio station. Basically as Trip said, companies apply for these months in advance. You'd need to show some sort of credentials. A company will be limited to so many. You then go to the press area to collect your pass.

I'll be there as well, but I think in order to get the press pass card, you'll require a valid press card of a newspaper/magazine, or you have to present an application. It ain't that easy.
