OXM UK: GTA V Lead Character COULD Be a FBI Agent

I can't believe this is actually an article.

The idea of playing as an FBI agent in a GTA game, where you can go on rampages against people of the city, is plain dumb. I'm sorry, but it is.

And what about a kind of karma system? if you do bad things your karma turns you evil, if you do good things it turns you into a cop. Bold new direction

Having the game give me bad karma for every person I run over would be like a racing game trying to make me feel guilty for speeding!

Who wants to bet this article is going to appear in the next issue of OXM, probably with a disclaimer promising new GTA V details on the cover?

Exclusive info of course. Just exclusive enough to warrant a half inch stamp in the corner of the cover.

Seems plausible tbh

I think it would be too cliched for R* to make a game about a former criminal trying to live an honest life.

It's been done hundreds of times already.

Well, for those that skipped the article because of my summary: they later talk about one of those casting call rumors too. One of the old ones that contained FBI agents. If you know those you missed nothing.

f*cking love the colorscheme.

That being said they had some pretty stupid reasons "They kicked down doors while in disguise...that's pretty coordinated." Yeah of course, no criminals could ever think of that, it's PURE genius, Enstein level brilliance!

Bold new direction anyone?

Not sure would work but I don't doubt rockstar, the only stumbling block is the everyday GTA street crime hit and runs, going on 6* running sprees etc, surely not if your an FIB agent...

Does anyone recall this information ever being leaked?

"It's possible to put names to what we glimpse of those faces. Three "FBI" agents number among the characters listed on a Telsey & Company casting call from early 2011, allegedly conducted on Rockstar's behalf. There's the "annoying, wise cracking, highly successful" Mitch Hayes, a sound bet for comic relief, the somewhat faceless Miguel Gonzalez, "a young Mexican American", and last but not least Calvin North, a "clapped out FBI agent who now mostly works offering advice on TV shows"."

Yep, this is news that is more than a year old now.

I'm just glad this time that "speculations" of FBI Agent didn't come from here in the forums.. Things just getting ridiculous without no information.

And it COULD be a cow!

If we list possible protagonists it'll be a sh*tstorm of threads

Can see it now, will be a case of 1000 theories/leaks out there and eventually when we get it one will end up being a lucky guess and 10% accurate and take the credit for being in the know. Will be....fun

Haven't read it all yet but credit where it's due, this is so f*cking stupid it could have come right from GTAForums. And I'm not talking about the general idea of playing as an FBI/FIB man but their arguments for that being likely:

Watch the sequence where three men - one the smart, graying white guy subtly framed as the speaking voice elsewhere - leap from a truck in identical pest control disguises brandishing suppressed automatic weapons, and kick their way into a glass lobby. Seems rather too scientific and coordinated for a mafia operation, doesn't it?

Yeah, sure. The Mafia (and other big criminal organizations) are all just a bunch of unorganized retards who could never come up with a solution as scientific as kicking a door.

EDIT: Excuse me, forgot to post in my new "look at me, I'm special" color scheme. Fixed it now.

Thanks for this post. Saves me a read on the article. More bullsh*t speculation that is so far-reachnig there's no sense to it.

Man R* really has to break the silence sometime soon.

Me too, I'm with you on that icon14.gif

I like the idea of being an FBI agent and being undercover. It's different from the past "anti-hero" protags and open's up new situation's within the storyline arc's of V. It's all speculation of cause, but i like the idea.

And te cop can say I need to commandeer your vehicle as he throws the woman out! That would be cool a crooked cop like officer tenpenny

Eh, I don't want the playable character to be an undercover officer/agent. It just doesn't feel right. That's more of a true crime/sleeping dogs kind of thing. I want to be a criminal sociopath with just a hint of humility.

I don't know about this whole undercover government agent thing, but it would be cool to play as a corrupt cop.

I say GTA Vs protagonist is a male prostitute.

I mean, it is a dirty line of work.

It could work if he starts as a police officer and then something happens that causes him to be fired from the force.

Also isn't it weird that the casting calls listed 3 FBI agents, one being a young hispanic guy, and this being the same makeup of 3 men doing the heist? I agree with what they said about it being a weird mission -- yes the mafia is good, and so are street gangs, but are they really known for having such an elaborate getup (the truck, the outfits and gear,) with silenced weapons? I could see how someone would consider this to be more of a "planned job with behind-the-scenes government involvement"

How about Rockstar just tells us who the main character is. Am I suppose to be dumb enough to think they don't already know who the main protaganist is?! I'm staring to think R*'s marketing techniques are a little out of of touch.

Theyve kind of already done that with vic, he was in the army then goy kicked out. Dont think they would do something similar. I would not like it anyway, vic was a wimp and wanted to be a good guy. I dont wanna be a good guy in GTA, im already a good guy in real life, we all are. Would be better if we get a psycho like tommy

@mvega0422 like I said it already happens in VCS, doubt theyll do it again icon14.gif

the idea is OK. my storyline of the game would be to have the protagonist's wife and kids kidnapped by some dude. and then somehow the protagonist gets them back by killing so many people. it should be like the movie "7 rounds"

Well if anything, it looks like an ex FBI agent turned crook. But I'd love to see them do this. Playing as the baddie is getting a bit stale at this point. Especially the whole start from the bottom and work your way up bit.

@ mvega0422

The idea is a trifle silly and nonsense.

An ex-cop fired from the police force that decides to make an extreme opposite career change and become a big-time, criminal gangster on the rampage. How dumb and unrealistic that is. Don't you stop to think that as his former employers, the police will know who exactly who he is, his habits and where to look and find him ?? As an ex-cop gone bad, they would wanna go after him even more. In these circumstances, how could he possibly expect to get away from the police all the time and continue to be on the run as a career criminal or gangster ?? It just would not make any kind of sense at all when playing a GTA game like that. No, it just don't fit at all.

Duh duh sarcasm.gif

@ BlackLightning

What exactly do you mean by "playing as a baddie is getting a bit stale at this point" ?? What the f**k does GTA stand for ?? Have you forgotten why people play GTA and love it so much in the first place ?? Man, get the f**K outta here.

There are open-world games like LA Noire for gamers like you who wish to play as a cop or the good guy. If that's not enough then go and promote your stupid ideas somewhere else.

The amount of thick skulls in this place is rising so fast in numbers, it's unreal. Rockstar, look what you are doing, you are turning people's brains into mush. Give us some info soon, before too many people on here lose half their brain cells.

What about getting arrested and waking up 12 hours later in front of the police station time after after time? The police wouldn't get to know your habits, want to bust you badly, etc and put you away for life?

We have threads about female and gay protagonists, yet an ex-cop is far-fetched?

Anyway, like someone said, they did similar in VCS and Sleeping Dogs appears to have that type of storyline covered.

EDIT: The only qualities a GTA protagonist must have are being ruthless, mean, and motivated. Anything else is fair game.

I like man dragon's argument. A former FIB going to the criminal underworld cause he has no cash to do jack. It's plausible, not likely tho. yawn.gif
