I played with Ultimate Starter Save File and here is the result: - played on PC version - played non-stop - 4 times mission failed - skipped all cutscenes possible - didn't save a single time - visited safehouse 3 times for equipment - busted not a single time - wasted 3 times - didn't cheat - Staunton lift bridge slowed me down 3 times - sealed some missions I failed 3 times in missions: - 2x in a row in Paparazzi Purge (running downstairs to the boat blew me right into water ) - 1x in Bait, because the stupid AI Colombians get off the car right before the secluded place on the road... - 1x in Waka-Gashira Wipeout, well I wasn't fast enough and my car exploded... I visited Staunton safehouse 3 times, everytime I get wasted in mission, I was more lucky with the police, not a single time busted. Missions I have sealed: Luigi: Pump-Action Pimp, The Fuzz Ball Joey: Dead Skunk in the Trunk, The Getaway Asuka: Two-faced Tanner Kenji: Kanbu Bust-Out, Grand Theft Auto, Deal Steal, Shima, Smack Down Ray: Gone Fishing, Plaster Blaster, Marked Man Donald: Escort Service, Decoy, Love's Disappaerance And here's my time: 02:07:03 I think it's a good time since I haven't played this game about half a year or so, 6 days passed in my savefile. 00:40:59 - Passed Last Request 01:30:32 - Passed Grand Theft Aero 02:07:03 - Passed The Exchange I stopped the timer after the heli falls down in the lake and screen fades off. And here are times for each part of Liberty City: Portland - 00:40:59 Staunton Island - 00:49:33 Shoreside Vale - 00:36:30 Last thing: I was very surprised after the subtitles fades off and Claude spawned in Wichita Gardens, there were still mission icons for Ray and Donald, is it normal? Of course it's normal. Donald's and Ray's missions, as well as Marty's, El Burro's, King Courtney's and D-Ice's phone missions, don't get locked off by completing "The Exchange". So you could return to complete them at your will. Congratulations on your magnificent result, man! You certainly got the grip of the game. I guess you are a professional player, just like me. You prove yourself worthy of this title. I was going to do my second Speed Run today, seeing as I got myself 5 hours of free time, but unfortunately once I started playing and got to Salvatore's missions, my Left Analog Stick on the Joypad broke, so I couldn't carry on. Although it was possible to use the D-pad, the Left Analog Stick got jammed, so I couldn't coordinate any movements. I like to enjoy the game's story first, then do all side-stuff and then do some challenges like this for fun. To your problem: Why not play on PC? Arsen Vitiuk Posted September 16, 2012 Share Posted September 16, 2012 The keyboard is not really my style, to be honest. I get my fingers in a bundle pretty soon when moving around with WASD keys. Especially in a vehicle. Much easier to do with a D-pad or Left Analog Stick, and with and left for acceleration and break. Gives me "hand freedom". I guess you catch my drift... Even on PC, I play with the 'Classic' controls scheme and the Joypad rather than the 'Standart' controls scheme and the Keyboard & Mouse. I might try it though, once I have time again. I skipped all unnecessary cutscenes and after about 2:40 of real time I was doing Espresso to go - and that's where I failed miserably- I failed 5 times that mission so I lost my patience and turned it off . I guess speedruns are not very good thing for beginners..I plan to complete game again soon ( not a speedrun, regular 100%, since I haven't done it yet) and then I will certainly try it again it's good challenge. My time is 2:48 which is pretty bad, but next time I'll try to make it better . But I can't provide proof, because my laptop restarted during ending credits, so I don't know if that counts . Absolutely sure about that?? 'Cause I played GTA SA on PS2 once and after Changing the hairstyle to Afro the game crashed and the console stopped, had to restart it. Anything can crash, Windows PC, Macintosh, Linux, XBOX, XBOBX360, PS, PS2, PS3, etc... It's just the Console/Computer that is more resistant to crashes. I like both PS2 and PC version of GTA III, except that I am still new to playing with Joypads. Anyway, congratulate. Also, Arsen, how much times did you save during your run? Space Cowboy Posted September 29, 2012 Share Posted September 29, 2012 So I died in The Exchange only (I died almost in few other missions too, but I just get lucky) I rushed that mission maybe a bit too much I thought I can make it to that place with Maria without many kills almost had it, but ....About mission fails :1. Paparazzi Purge- that cost me a bit time, 2.Waka Gashira Wipe-out- I just wasn't fast enough, so I let it fail because collecting weapons would cost me quite a lot time. 3.S.A.M-again stupid mistake which professional players like you and Arsen would not do I tried to use technique which was used in this speedrun: I don't know if it's faster, but 2nd attempt I did it with good old way ,4. If you look at that video he has certainly impressive flying skill, just the way he did Espresso 2 go is incredible. Yeah I took maybe too much risk, but I was lucky too, if I failed then I wouldn't risk that much . Still my time is pretty bad, but these days I'm getting into GTA III much more than before so in future I'll go for better time . Do you mind telling me how long have you been playing or how many times have you completed GTA III. From your posts you seems to be very experienced player.
