SHXC
Hey, I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS a week or two ago and had trouble installing driver(s) for a Edimax Nano Wifi USB I bought. So, earlier I finally found a nice little guide on how to do it and it worked. Then I downloaded updates through the OS itself. Comes to reboot and the f*cking OS doesnt pick up any wireless networks anymore. It doesnt even pick up that the USB in plugged in there. Just thought I'd ask here to save registering on an Ubuntu forum. Not sure if I should be supplying more info/computer specs or not, so apologies in advance. X-Seti
I would download ubuntu 11.04 instead with Gnome and stick with it. Reasons are the kernel will support older hardware where 12.04 is for newer hardware. Your also find wine will work better as I have 3dsmax installed. http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/232/viewf2.jpg Edit. I did some research for you. Please open a terminal and do the following sudo apt-get install build-essential linux-headers-generic Then download the driver to your desktop here: http://www.edimax.com/en/support_detail.ph..._id=1&pl2_id=44 If you do not like searching, try here instead. Download the driver from http://www.edimax.com/en/downloadBox.php?p...39.20100726.zip Extract the contents and look in the driver folder for rtl8192CU_linux_v2.0.939.20100726.gz Extract rtl8192CU_linux_v2.0.939.20100726.gz to your desktop and do the following in the terminal. cd Desktop/rtl8192CU_8188CU_linux_v2.0.939.20100726/makesudo make installsudo modprobe 8192cu Job done.
